  • No comparison to other Edifiers
Color: Dark Wood
Highly recommend theses S880DBs over the QR65 I own both sets now I also owned the 350DBs with Sub. I'm using these with the T5S Slim SUb they sound Fantastic for Music!!! I haven't played a game yet but I know they will be closer to my 350DBs than the QR65s were which were lacking big time for games. I installed my Realtek Drivers on my Z790 to get the most out of the QR65s ran white noise even these blow them away. I'm one of the biggest gamers out there don't be mislead I owned the 350DBs since 2019 no problems. Update: I started using these with my old Zen Dac 2 Amp totally blow away everything sounds good now. Just use the RCA jacks from the Amp to the Speaker and USB to the PC. ... show more

  • Great warm deep sound from.a tiny package!
Color: White
These speakers have been amazing so far and everything I've wanted. The hi-res audio sounds amazing on my Mac Mini and for the price they just sound full and great. I love everything about them, the only minor gripe would be the touch remote can be finicky sometimes but thats a minor issue. High recommended and worth the cost. ... show more

  • A perfect desktop pc speaker option
Color: White
These little speakers are kind of a mixed bag but in a mostly good way. First off, these are compact bookshelf speakers, and for their size and weight, they really sound impressive. The treble is bright and clear, the mids are warm, and the bass is decent well-defined without being overbearing. It’s not going to rattle your walls or give you that deep, chest-shaking experience, but it’s precise and controlled, which works well for music and movies where you want clarity over brute force. The design is nice too. They’ve got a white front baffle with wooden side panels that give them a modern but still classy look. The wood isn’t just cosmetic; it helps keep the sound natural and reduces resonance. They’re definitely nicer-looking than a lot of plastic speakers in this price range. They’re also solidly built. I’ve got the active speaker with all the knobs and the passive one, and they don’t feel cheap at all. Connectivity is where these shine. Bluetooth 5.3 with LDAC support works well and seems stable in my setup. If you want wired, there’s USB-C, optical, coaxial, two line-in ports, and a subwoofer output. I like that it comes with a remote, which actually works well and doesn’t feel like a gimmick, and the auto-dimming OLED display on the active speaker is a nice little touch. You can also use the Edifier ConneX app for EQ adjustments and other settings, which is kind of handy. Of course, they’re not perfect. The bass, while accurate, isn’t huge. If you’re a basshead or want something to really shake a room, you’ll need a separate subwoofer. Bluetooth doesn’t support aptX, which might matter if you’re picky about wireless sound quality. There’s no phono stage, so hooking up a turntable isn’t plug-and-play. They also don’t do native streaming like Spotify Connect or AirPlay, so you have to manually select inputs or stream over Bluetooth, which can be a bit annoying if you switch sources often. The volume knobs and EQ controls are nice, but they don’t offer the same fine-tuned control as a proper receiver or desktop DAC setup. Sound-wise, they handle most types of music really well. Acoustic stuff, jazz, pop, even some electronic tracks all come through clear and detailed. Movies sound good too, though again, if you want full-on home theater immersion with massive low-end impact, you’ll notice the limits. The speakers are Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified, and you can definitely hear the extra detail compared to cheap bookshelf speakers, especially if you’re streaming high-quality files or using the wired inputs. All in all, for around $400, these speakers are a solid pick. They look good, sound very good for their size, and offer flexible connectivity. They’re great for a desktop setup, a small living room, or anywhere you want high-resolution sound without taking over the space. Just don’t expect them to replace a full home theater system or give you the kind of bass that rattles furniture. They’re precise, detailed, and generally enjoyable, but they do have their quirks if you’re picky about streaming options or wireless codecs. ... show more

  • YESSIR !! FANTASTIC NEAR-FIELD SPEAKERS
Color: White
These speakers outperformed my expectations. I spent 90 minutes listening to them over a range of different music and was QUITE PLEASED. -GREAT DETAIL ... more on that below -TIGHT BASS ... more on that below, too -WELL PRESENTED MIDS -NICE HIGHS First, my only negative: I would not call these "bookshelf" speakers because in my world, those disperse all the frequencies into a room at least moderately evenly - sure there is always (and physics demand necessarily so) a sweet spot but there should be a fairly well dispersed high-end, minimally. With these, the treble is really not making me happy unless they are pointed directly at my ears. Maybe I'm spoiled and accustomed to that because I spend most of my time listening in earbuds, headphones, or near-field studio monitors and I've forgotten what normal speakers sound like in the room. In the 80's I had the privilege of living with a very, very nice system featuring ESS Heil AMT-1 speakers that were incredible. One day I was standing on the sidewalk in front of our house and could clearly hear Harry James big band music being blasting in the living room. It sounded like there was an ACTUAL BAND playing in there. It was jaw dropping. Unreal. THESE little Edifier speakers sounded good enough that I double-dared them with that same track. Now, obviously, they didn't sound AS GOOD, but I swear, three feet away with a bit of volume behind them - the detail presented by these little guys were actually IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!!! And the stand-up bass had that tight bottom end but also the detail of all the ascending harmonics, too. You do NOT get that throughout the room, though. These titanium dome tweeters seem pretty directional. Everything I threw at these sounded great. Steely Dan Aja. Linda Ronstadt Nelson Riddle standards. Remastered Frank Sinatra. Soundgarden, Beethoven’s 9th, ELO, Bob Dylan, Tower of Power and a track I'd recently engineered and mixed for an exceptionally talented local band.... and I realized I needed to fix something I hadn't caught - I need to tighten up the bass in one track because the mud I thought was coming from these speakers is coming from MY MIX!! (that's what I get for having mixed this only in headphones so far). So that, to me, is a very good sign of the accuracy of these things when in "monitor" mode. (bass and treble were at 0). So.... I give these a BIG THUMBS UP. It's Amazon. "Try it, you'll like it," as the old Alka Seltzer ad from the 70's used to say. And if you don't, hey, return them! I need more time with them but I think they are going to be a set of speakers I keep at my mixing desk to get a more consumer take on my mixes. But I have to say - the "monitor" setting is pretty decently flat - with a little bit of Edifier saying "oh, please, just a little sauce, you'll like it..." Well, I tried it, and I like it. ... show more
