Top Amazon Reviews

  • I am an old school "Audiophile" and these speakers have some of the best sound I have ever heard!
Color: Black
I can tell you, if you are looking for smaller speakers with a MASSIVE sound, with insane volume - at no distortion either (I could only ever cause distortion on purpose by pushing EQ settings too far etc) - these things are AMAZING for hardcore Music loving, or just chilling and watching some Amazon Prime Video - no matter what you do - they will sound great! I have done a TON of research before buying, I almost went with Klipsch's R15PM set - but EVERY audio magazine I compared the reviews directly between the R2000DB and the R15PMs - on the same outlets, EVERY reviewer was taken aback by the R2000DB's sound and ability to fill an enormous space, and how crisp and clear the soundstage was! Meanwhile the R15PM got good reviews, but none of the reviewers seemed half as enthusiastic about the performance of the product, with summaries of "R15PM sounds great, and will suit a small listening space well." When the SAME reviewer said (paraphrasing) "The R200DBs shocked us with their clarity and the sound stage is immense, every note is crisp and well placed - the volume of the sound was so great that it could comfortably fill even a decent sized venue with plenty of music" And that was the same reviewer talking about the R200DB and its priced competitor from a MUCH more well known brand, a brand that has been in the upper Echelons of Audio for the better part of 100 years - and by every metric I can find, Edifier who actually got some AMAZING talent from audio engineers from big names across the globe - managed to beat out the best in the space with just the ~10 or so years that Edifier has existed as an International HiFi Audio brand! It is really inspiring to think, the man who started Edifier started out by selling cheap PC speakers to mainland China, but his passion was always making the best Audio Equipment possible - and after he put out an open call to Audio Engineers, quite a few BIG names in the Acoustic Research community checked out Edifier, and the CEO/Owner's plans and QUICKLY joined the company! The rest, as they say, is history - and that means affordable TOP TIER AUDIO! (5/11/21 UPDATE:) (I have now been using these speakers for well over a month, and whilst my initial review will stand as all of it is true, I have ONE MINOR GRIPE - I wish Edifier had given the Bass Drivers a little more headroom, either a higher max wattage and/or a driver that can throw a little further and withstand more power. It is by NO MEANS a huge design flaw - as Bass only starts to distort when the volume is up significantly on a song with heavy bass notes. The SOUND is still PERFECT! I just wish I could say that no matter what abuse I try to throw at these speakers it would always sound just as perfect. And I want to reiterate the FACT that the Bass sound is AMAZING for the size - it is only when you really push the drivers that they distort a bit on heavy bass, which is a shame. - This, and the lack of a dedicated Sub Out are the reasons I have downgraded to a 4 out of 5 star, but on a 100 scale, I would still rate them a solid 90!m If the bass drivers could NOT distort, and there was also a Sub out on this unit - like there is on the R1850DB - those 2 tings would have meant a PERFECT 100 out of 100!) Well, now that I know Edifier is truly Amazing, maybe I will eventually upgrade to the S2000 MkII - as that has basically everything I could want, and I KNOW the sound will be UNPARALLELED! These little things punch EVERY BIT AS HARD as the OLD BIG BOYS! Read below, I am a 90s kid and was an audiophile ever since the days of GIANT Stereo systems cause so is my dad - and he hooked me up way back in the day too. Use the Optical Input for best sound, if you can! And they have PLENTY of volume to fill a relatively large room, should be perfectly at home in a room with about 12' by 12' of space - stereo separation is PERFECT - and sound is CRYSTAL clear - especially using the Optical Audio for input! First of all, I have been someone who can easily hear distortions and bad mixes, ever since I was 5 and my dad's giant Carver stereo with 4 HUGE Altec Speakers (which acted as corner tables they were that big) I have ALWAYS been an Audiophile since I was a little kid, back in the good old 90s of MASSIVE full stereo systems - he gave me his old Technics receiver to use in my stereo system - it was a SWEET piece for a 10 year old kid too! I had some Pioneer's with a 12" woofer, with 5" mids and 2" tweeters - it was 60 watts RMS per channel as well - I even bought upgraded speakers for the cabinets as they were old when I got them, I overbuilt them. Anyway TL:DR This sound BETTER than my old GIANT stereo, and ALMOST as loud and as booming as pop's old Carver + Altecs - and mind you, the entire cabinet for one of these speakers takes up less space than the 14" woofers on Dad's old Altecs! ALL THAT - and the Bass is ALMOST as loud, basically EVERY BIT AS DEEP - and handles the mids and highs even better from what I can recall! And that is not hyperbole - those old Giant Alties had a rated response of 40 Hz to 20 KHz at +/-3 Db - ALL high end audio is rated MUCH more tightly, with not more than 3db of pop or dropoff allowed to make the spec - and these little beauties have a 5.25' Woofer - STILL manage 54 Hz to 20 KHz response within said +/- 3db rating - and that is no joke! Music is best when I can not only hear every single little nuance and note - and loud enough that I can feel it in my chest when the bass swells, and I can hear the spatial positioning of every single note no matter how soft - the "Stereo Imaging" as it is called - that these R2000DBs provide is BEYOND Excellent! For me, the louder the music, the more I FEEL the song, and the easier it is to hear defects - but a good track on these speakers sounds FLAWLESS even at basically MAX volume which is so loud, I can scream at the top of my lungs and not hear a PEEP! My bro was pounding the wall really hard to get my attention as he needed to make a phone call and I was testing these SWEET SPEAKERS out! I am honestly not able to describe how amazing it sounds in person when dialed on on a good EQ from the source. I run Bass at about +1.8 Db and Treble at +4 Db on the back of the speakers, it seems to be the right mix for my uses. My setup does have all sound coming from the built in Audio Circuitry of my ASRock Z370 Gaming K6 motherboard - I use my PC for both gaming, and watching "TV" (I use Xfinity Online for actual TV-TV, and of course the 3 big streaming services) - and listening to Music - I have a WIDE range in taste - which lets me REALLY see how good a speaker system is! Anyway point is - I can REALLY hear quality sound in music, and Optical is the BEST Audio connector to use for up to 5.1 channels not compressed - with 7.1 possible compressed IIRC - Optical is a sort of open standard though, so it all depends on implementation. On these speakers - USE OPTICAL INPUT - If you can! I tried A-B testing against a 3.5mm stereo plug going into the Component Audio on these speakers with the Optical input, and compared to the optical input, in my case at least - the 3.5mm audio sounded muddied and compressed compared to the PERFECTLY crisp Optical input! Anyway I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS! 9.5 out of 10! Only thing I MIGHT ask for still, is a Sub-out (luckily my PC has one) and for the R2000DB to be updated to use HDMI audio in as well as the current connectivity - as HDMI audio is supposedly the cleanest - but I probably would use Optical anyway. And MAYBE just a little more overhead in the Amps - I would LOVE for it to be impossible to cause distortion no matter what I do - but that is unreasonable anyway, its not like anything sounds good with the EQ maxed on every slider - as well as the Bass and Treble control on the speakers. You don't QUITE have to max things out to get a little distortion - but this complaint is all but meaningless, as that it already beyond ear damagingly high volumes - so more just a bragging rite than anything I suppose. I looked at the detailed specs, and unless you are NEAR max volume - these speakers register at ~0.03% THD or less! I mean you can crank the volume the whole way and you CANNOT hear any hiss unless you put your ear right next to the tweeter! (FYI if you do not know, ANYTHING below 1% THD - Total Harmonic Distortion, basically means that you cannot hear ANY noise that does not belong there - even top rated UBER expensive amps rarely get to 0.03%) - of course if you are pushing the digital amp circuit too far, you will start getting to 1% and beyond when playing music too loudly. And for me to say a, well - not cheap, but not super expensive, audio device is a 9.5 out of 10 in sound and features, that means I am EXTREMELY IMPRESSED! ... show more

  • Great sound and quality. Got these for PC gaming and listening to lossless music
Color: Black
These are my very first pair of bookshelf speakers after wanting to move away from computer speakers from Logitech. My previous speakers were the Logitech X-530 and Z623, and I've been using speakers like those for years. The Edifier R2000DB connected with an optical cable blow those speakers out of the water. I tried going back to my previous speakers after using these for almost a month and don't know how I managed to stand them. I'm not an audiophile but with lossless music I can clearly hear details I've never heard before when it comes to the instruments and vocals. These speakers are powered, so when you connect them with a digital cable (optical or USB. These only accept optical), it bypasses the audio processing on your motherboard. One thing I was worried about when it came to an optical cable is the audio lag. I've read (a couple) cases that optical cables can cause audio delay in games, but I haven't had an issue yet. I've streamed a few times with these speakers connected with an optical cable and have had no issues with my streaming or recordings. The 2 cons I have with these speakers though are the inputs and the remote control. The remote control is mostly fine (as in: the buttons work when I press them), but there were a few cases where I had to take the battery out and put it back in because it wasn't working. If it breaks soon that's going to be a problem because the volume knob is on the back of the speakers. I usually keep the windows volume at 100 and adjust the gain on the speakers using the remote control. I also wish these had a USB connection. I wasn't aware of audio delay lag until after I got these speakers, so being able to use USB while gaming/streaming/recording would be nice for piece of mind. Off the top of my head the G5000 and Airpulse 100 have a USB input, though the latter is pretty expensive (and honestly something I'm shooting for in the future). All-in-all these speakers sound rather great. I got the all piano black look and it matches very well with everything else on my desk. They're very well made and sturdy. One last thing I'd like to mention is that there is no audible hiss for me when my room is completely quiet. I sit 2.5 - 3ft away from the speakers. There *is* hiss (like all speakers), but only if I put my ear next to them. For the times when I'm doing work on the PC when it's quiet makes it a huge plus. If you've never owned a pair of bookshelf speakers before you can't go wrong with these at all. Definitely recommend them. ... show more

  • Amazing speakers
Color: Black
I use these as desktop speakers, and I love them. I also tried out the 1280DB, 1700BT and 1850DB, and these were by far the best. My conclusions were that the other 3 speakers sounded far to ‘boxy’. The 1850DB’s actually had slightly more bass than the 2000DB, but I found that the bass on the 2000DB’s, though not as a strong at its peak than the 1850DB’s, was a lot more ‘punchy’ and ‘precise’. I love a lot of bass, but I actually found I liked the 2000DB’s punchy & precise bass a lot, even more than the 1850DB which may produce more bass overall. The 2000DB was completely different than the other 3. This one sounded very ‘open’ and it was especially noticeable in the highs/vocals. Everything on this speaker sounds so crisp, and I found no ‘boxiness’ with this one at all. They get really loud too. The black looks is also great, and I prefer it to the wooden look of the other model speakers. The speaker has a dynamic and classic mode, with the dynamic mode kicking up the treble and bass slightly. The downside here is if you like to listen in classic mode, each time you turn on the speaker it automatically starts in dynamic mode. So you will have to change to classic each time manually with the remote. For me, I love the dynamic mode though and the preset adds a lot of depth to the music, in my opinion. So this doesn’t matter to me, but it may for you. The Bluetooth is great and sounds just as good as wired. Switching between inputs with the remote is also easy. I love this speaker! Best one I’ve ever heard ... show more
