Read more Edifier’s First Passive Bookshelf Speakers Be a part of a first for Edifier. The P12 is a set of passive bookshelf speakers that give you the freedom to amplify and press the boundaries of sound. An external amplifier or receiver is required. Solid Built MDF Enclosure The P12 passive speakers use market proven MDF enclosures for the classic designed cabinets. These enclosures are engineered to reduce cabinet resonance effectively. The entire speakers are finished in elegant wood accent that fit both contemporary decor as well as setups with a vintage vibe. Silk Dome Tweeters and 4’ Bass Drivers The P12 uses a ¾ - inch silk dome tweeter allowing for more room at the high-end. For bass, a 4-inch driver is used for smooth, rich, low frequency sound. Each speaker also has a bass reflex port that adds emphasis to the woofer. Versatile Placement Options The P12 is designed to fit perfectly on shelfs, desktops and the walls. Complete your home theater with Edifier’s passive speakers. The P12 features a wall-mount bracket built-into each speaker allowing for use as rear channel or surround speakers. • Another Lesson in False Economy...
They were just for an office. Not a cathedral-like space. They just had to sound semi-decent filling a small area. For just over $70, I didn't expect much, but reviews lead me to believe that their performance exceeded the price tag by some margin. It absolutely doesn't. They sound every bit like a pair of $70 speakers. The bass dominates. A muddy, thick wad of unpleasantness. The only good part about the bass is that it takes your mind off of the complete lack of an intelligible mid-range. That's just a soup. And then there's the harsh, sibilant high end. Not an enjoyable listening experience at all. Will continue to plug away to see if they magically break in at all over the next few days, but am suspecting not. On the plus side, they look really nice. Perhaps I'll keep them as bookends? ... show more

  • Sleek looking, convenient size, good sound
These Edifier speakers have a very nice sturdy design. The lighter wood grain along with the gray accents/grille give a nice contemporary look (nice change from the usual black speakers). They are not large and obtrusive but the power they output is decent for their size. They are kinda costly for their size when you compare them to some Polks or other brands that even come with a larger tweeter and woofer. Most of my other speakers are klipsch so my ears are adjusted to their brighter tones. These Edifier speakers prefer the mids and lows. However that means when you crank up the volume on these they won’t make your ears feel like their ringing. What you hear is a powerful, clear, and distortion free sound. Either way I won’t be needing to crank these speakers up too high since they are just for normal listening to in a bedroom. I have them hooked up to a simple 2-Ch Sony Str-dh130 vía 16gauge wire. I made use of the wall mount bracket that’s on there, so it’s a good thing it has a front firing port. The bass is pretty decent for the size, but I don’t notice it shaking up my drywall or windows which is a good thing. Overall pleased with these speakers. 4 stars because they are pricier than some of the competition. ... show more

  • Good bookshelfs for the price............
Was very surprised listening to these speakers for the first time. They're not flimsy for one thing when I opened the package and are quite solid and nice looking. Hooking them up to a mini-amp I ran a connection between the turntable and tape deck to the amp and was rewarded with a beautiful, detailed sound and surprisingly good bass. Even though these are not sitting on a floor for the low sound waves the sound is still good with full but not tubby bass. This is an excellent buy for anyone but they really make my analogue recordings, be they vinyl or tape, come alive again. ... show more

  • Appropriate sound for price. Leaves some quality to be desired. Great look.
These speakers look better than they sound. I recommend pairing with a subwoofer. Although they seemed a bit bass heavy prior to using the subwoofer, it seemed to even everything out sound wise. Beware these are only 25 W per speaker. Although this doesn't matter THAT much, I'm using a 75W per channel receiver and I feel like if I turned them up too much they would be quite distorted. Been looking for a low wattage receiver or amp to pair with these to get their best sound, but they're hard to find with an A/B channel and subwoofer out. In retrospect, I feel I might could have found better speakers for a similar price, but these will do fine until I can afford some audiophile-grade speakers. ... show more

  • Very nice 20 watt speakers (p12)
I purchased a pair of p12s edifier speakers. They are running off of a micro Yamaha receiver. It is 15 watts x 2 the speakers are 20 x2 so I'm not pushing them hard. The sound is clear, no muddle or distortion. My musical taste goes from classical to hard core everthing. They get a sonic work out daily for at least 2 hours at 3\4 volume of better. No issues at all. At low volumes it is still clear and audible. No issues. I've had them for 2 months or so. The cabinets have nice lines and nice finish. Grill covers have nice detail. Overall highly recommend the p12 speakers for sure . ... show more

  • Excellent little quality speakers
Bought these passive speakers for my digital, weighted key Korg piano keyboard. I use an amplifier, but had blown my old speakers (of 25 years), and wanted some decent sound. Didn't need ear-blowing volume, but did want quality sound which reflects the dynamics of the piano and other Keyboard voices. These little ( hefty ) speakers arrived today. Were easy to set up, with quality speaker wires, already stripped and ready to plug in. Sound quality excellent. All round balanced. Definitely worth the price for this purpose. ( No I'm not going on tour any time soon.. ) but for home use, these are just the ticket. ... show more

  • Works for me!
These look good and are just what I was looking for to use with my old-time turntable and receiver.

  • Adequate as surround sound side/rear speakers
I'm very happy with them as side surround sound speakers. I have very high end bookshelf speakers (EPOS ELS3) for front and center and a great subwoofer and in-ceiling rear speakers (set up 5.1.2 for Dolby ATMOS). As side surround speakers they sound great with the whole system at volumes high enough to hurt my ears and vibrate the floors. I was willing to upgrade to high end speakers if they didn't fit in, but they are doing their job so well I will stick with them. ... show more
