I purchased this jacket to be my go-to jacket for my daily commute, and so far, I’m really enjoying it. It’s surprisingly warm and lightweight, and it folds up very small to fit in my daily commute backpack. The only downside are the zippers. their quality is ok but not much more than that.

I bought this jacket along with several other brands of the same style. This one was hands down the best fitting and best looking of them all. I also own a far more expensive puffy jacket and I have to say this is every bit the quality and fit for a fraction of the cost. I am very happy with this Eddie Bauer jacket. I tried the North Face Thermoball but it was too tight in a large and too big in an XL, and the zipper was fussy. North Face quality really seems to have declined. So I tried this jacket. It fits perfectly, with room to wear long sleeve heavier shirts underneath. I went for a walk in 40 degree weather and was comfortably warm. What's amazing is that the jacket is so light I was afraid it would not be warm enough, but it's great for those fall and spring days when a parka is too much. And on sale it's a bargain. As to use in the rain, I haven't tried that yet but it claims to be water repellant.

This jacket is amazing, extremely lightweight and comfortable and reasonably water repellant. It is honestly hard to believe how warm this jacket is for how light and thin it is, I can easily say it's warmer than jackets I have had that are 3-4 times as heavy and it is much more comfortable. However, my jacket came with a loose thread. No big deal, I thought, until it started to unravel up the length of the whole jacket almost immediately when I put it on. I have attached a picture of what the thread looked like when I first unpacked the coat so you can see what it might look like when the problem starts. Replacement jacket is on the way, and I am sincerely hoping that I just had bad luck because Eddie Bauer has always sold quality in the past. Basically, I wouldn't hesitate at all to buy this jacket. You'll love it. Just make sure you check your jacket over very carefully when it arrives so you can avoid having the same manufacturing defect that I did. I'm gonna give Eddie Bauer the benefit of the doubt and say this was a fluke, but definitely something to watch out for with yours.

While the coat was warm and lightweight it did start to show filling coming out on the car seats and on my clothes. Not very well made. Bough a competitors jacket which works well for warmth and is also lightweight. So sorry I missed the return deadline as this would certainly have been returned.
