After seemingly MONTHS of research and watching the prices of ebikes, I 'landed' on Ecotric! And I'm glad I did! I had some criteria going in: bike had to have a robust battery/motor e.g. 48v 12ah and at least 500w motor; a reasonable warranty period and little to no shipping cost. With the Ecotric Cheetah Fat20, I got all I wanted and a few pluses: the company is in Oakland CA (I'm in Santa Barbara) and the tech/service people proved to be top notch. Another plus: bike is fold-able which is always good in case the bike 'dies' while out and about and you need to get home using alternative transport! As to cost: at 699.00 w/free shipping and a 1 year warranty plus all my wants as to performance this was an easy choice to make. So I ordered on like the 16th and received it about 1 week later. Now....All I gotta do is put it together! So I am not a mechanic but I have 'house tools' and basic abilities: 'righty tighty, lefty loosie.' LOL. De-boxing was easy, removing all the packing stuff...easy. Building was kinda easy but I did have some issues with annoyingly minor stuff: Seat just would not go into the seat post...Solution: Vaseline. Getting one side of the LCD display screwed down...Solution: Use my 'house tool' socket set to get better leverage and power. Front fender aligned just right so as to not rub the tire...Solution: Patience plus trial and error. OK done and done! Charge the Battery...took about 4 hours...and off we go. First impression: very capable PAS and the power throttle is great...bike is fast (still 20mph) and shifting was somewhat easy but had issues...more on that later. All in all very good first ride. However, there were some problems and did require a visit to my local bike shop to fix. But the folks at Ecotric were very helpful and even paid the 'repair' bill as partial refund to my credit card account. So Problems: Shifter and Derailleur were 'out of sync' meaning shifter says I'm on 5th gear, chain says I'm on 4th. I was never able to get 7th gear then because of this. Turns out that I did need to have a local tech adjust the derailleur. Also, the derailleur 'hanger' was bent causing the chain to rub a bit and prevent the chain from moving. Tech says this is common with shipped ebikes as the 'hanger' gets crushed and bent even though there is a 'cage' around the derailleur. All fixable...and again, Ecotric PAID the shop bill. How cool is that! I will recommend this bike to anyone that wants/needs an ebike and is on a budget. Great eBike at a great price point and super good company to deal with. Ride ON!!

I orderd this for my wife's birthday. Her last ebike was a 20 inch "folder" that, after 5 years of good use, the electronics no longer work. So I came across this and ordered it. It came within the time frame and I assembled it in about an hour without any issues at all. It came with all the necessary tools. An Allen wrench and two other wrenches. This is a well engineered bike, everything fits perfectly and there were no missing parts. the finish is also very good. Once assembled, it was a magnificient ebike waiting to be ridden....except its way to big for my 5' 2" wife. The fat tires are a lot "fatter" than expected and contribute to the extra height of the bike. ( I admit I did not notice that it had fat tires that the time of ordering) My wife declined to even try to mount it ....so unfortunately it will be returned. Ecotric do have another (2-20) 20 inch folding step-through bike and we are ordering that and staying with Ecotric because of their impressive build quality. The bike was never ridden because we wanted to retun it in new condition. However we did charge the battery and after inserting the key (it comes with 2) to the correct position, it powered on and everything seemed to work just as it should. The minimum seat height is about 34 inches, bearing that in mind, I strongly recommend this bike for anyone over 5' 7" tall, if you are shorter than that, you will could problems mounting and unmounting. Still, it's a great well-built ebike that should last for years....

Okay so I bought this a few weeks ago, and I've been using it for the past 2 weeks as my daily commuter to work in a major city. It's about 5km each way from my house to work. The good: -Decently fast and strong - gets up to 20MPH (32km/h) easily. That's where it is limited, and I'm sure if I wanted to unlock it it would go much faster. -OK battery life. Battery lasts for 16 miles (28km) with combination of throttle and pedal. Mostly throttle. -Comfortable. -Screen and controls are good. -Nice quality grips made of faux leather with sewn edges. -Great, big tires. -Inexpensive compared to most similar E-Bikes. The not so good: -Pedaling without assist is incredibly hard. It's basically impossible to use if the battery is dead, unless it's an emergency. -Battery is JUST ok, not as good as I hoped. -No front suspension - makes it a bit rigid and at high speeds a bit bumpy. -Came with absolutely no instructions so assembly took a bit (you'll figure it out, it's not crazy, but it would have been nice if there was instructions). Conclusion: I've had multiple e-bikes and I've used them as my primary mode of transpiration for the last 3 years. If you live in a city and need to get to work, I'd recommend them as the best way to do it. This e-bike is a pretty good deal, especially if you live in the US. It offers good value for money, and decent battery life that should get you to and from almost any commute on a single charge (if you live in a city). It would have been nice to have instructions as I'm not the most handy. 4/5.
