They are simple but that's not a bad thing. Definitely thick enough to protect the back of the seat and the main thing I was looking for (this is something not everyone likes) was a protector with only one pocket at the top. We've had protectors that had several pockets and when you put stuff in those pockets they "sag" and my 3 year old granddaughter could not climb into her seat. One pocket at the top = perfect for us. The product is priced at a place where you dont expect too much - I just needed somethign to protect my seats for a week as my niece and nephew visited. 5 days into it the elastic on one of them broke, which means the pad is now not flush/attached to the seat. I can't complain too much cuz this is a very cheap product, but they kids weren't really kicking it much at all - so that's unfortunate.
