Description

Ecolution Original Microwave Micro-Pop Popcorn Popper, Borosilicate Glass, 3-in-1 Silicone Lid, Dishwasher Safe, BPA Free, 1.5 Quart - Snack Size, Red. Troubleshoot: HOW MICROWAVES WORK : Microwave ovens heat by producing electromagneticwaves that cause water molecules in food to vibrate. This vibration produces heat. Microwaves do not “see” glass or plastic. Never place the popper in the microwave oven empty. Damage to your oven can occur. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION : Read before use : It is very important to use fresh kernels that have not dried out and to store them in an airtight container to maintain their moisture. Popcorn kernels do not last indefinitely. Do not refrigerate kernels as this can dry them out. Do not use kernels past the manufacture's expiration date. WARNING! Dried out kernels can cause damage to your microwave and in extreme cases, even cause fires. Based on our kitchen tested time of 2½ minutes (without butter), average for most microwaves, popping should begin in 60-90 seconds. Understand your microwave by running a few tests with fresh kernels to establish the amount of time your microwave needs to pop the kernels optimally. Pay attention to the amount of time it takes for kernels to begin to pop. Use this as a guideline for future uses to avoid burning. IF KERNELS HAVE NOT STARTED TO POP WITHIN 2 MINUTES STOP THE OVEN, DISCARD THE KERNELS AND OBTAIN NEW, FRESH KERNELS.

  • I order another one, Love It.

As a popcorn lover, the Ecolution Patented Micro-Pop Microwave Popcorn Popper has been a fantastic find! It's incredibly easy to use and delivers delicious, healthy popcorn without any fuss. The best part is how simple it is: just add kernels to the silicone bowl, put it in the microwave, and in a few minutes, you have perfectly popped corn. No oil needed for popping, which is great for a healthier snack, but you can add butter or seasonings afterwards. It's also super easy to clean, unlike traditional popcorn makers. While it might take a little trial and error to find your microwave's perfect popping time, once you do, it's consistent. It's also a much more eco-friendly option than microwave bags. If you're looking for a convenient, healthy, and easy way to make popcorn at home, I highly recommend the Ecolution Micro-Pop. It's a simple gadget that brings a lot of joy! ... show more

  • It’s all about the popcorn!
Size: 1.5-Quart Snack Size Color: Red
We use “mushroom” popcorn. The name indicates the SIZE of the kernel not where it came from. Our microwave is a cheaper type of unit. 1100 watts and MOST IMPORTANTLY has a rotating platter. I mention that because so many reviews are negative in the use of this popper. I have now used this new popper almost two dozen times and it has performed incredibly well. Each time I use it I get the same wonderful popping experience that I did before. I do understand the negative reviews and may even agree with a bunch of them. Here is what I’m doing every time I make a pot of corn. 1. When using Mushroom Popcorn I allow the kernels to almost cover the bottom of the pot. 2. I always put a good chunk of a stick of butter (3-4 Tbs.) in the lid and then I salt the heck out of the butter. 3. I set the microwave for 3 minutes and I stand by until the popping slows to one pop every 2 seconds. NEVER STOP THE PROCESS! We have NEVER had a bad batch of popcorn. It always looks like I put too much butter and salt on top of the lid but it has always been perfect. Excess butter and salt is distributed on the insides of the globe and if you decide that you want more salt on your popcorn then all you have to do is to swirl the popcorn inside of the globe. Soooo Yummy! Last but not least! DO NOT clean by placing into a dishwasher. HAND WASH ONLY! Putting the popper in the dishwasher could allow other dishes to touch the globe and the pressure of the water in the dishwasher is powerful enough to just vibrate the popper against the pegs of the washer racks, causing the delicate glass rim of popper to crack and chip. The popper is delicate and should be handled in that way. Carefully. I am NOT disappointed in this little popper and with a little attention paid to the delicacy of my popper I expect it to last for a long long time. NOTE: It’s been almost a year since the purchase. We continue to use the heck out of it. Average use has been 2-3 times a week or more since we received it. (We love popcorn) As of today 8-12-22 the popper is in good of as when new. Never have popped a bad batch of corn yet. We LOVE this popper. 2nd NOTE. Now at 3 years old and we still use it quite often and as of today it works as good as it did when brand new. I have noticed a tiny bit of fracturing around the plastic handle area due to repeated use. The unit does get really hot during the popping part and consequently is starting to show signs of cracking BUT ONLY on the plastic surfaces. The minor cracks do not weaken the unit or effect its popping. I’m just a little extra careful about grabbing it out of the microwave so quickly, by just the handle. I now use the handle and I also support the entire thing with a dish towel when removing it from the microwave. Even if the handle were to break off, I would still be able to use the popper, just with a potholder or something similar. I’m pretty stoked about this popper. ALWAYS PERFECTLY POPPED. Update September 28, 2024 We are still using our popper as much as we did when we purchased it back in 2021. It has stood up to the test of time as far as I’m concerned. On my last update I mentioned the cracking of the plastic on the handle. Well, it is doing fine and apparently the micro-cracks have not weakened the plastic and are not getting any worse so I am very happy about that but as always, I like to handle the popper gently just to be safe. I have always placed a big chunk of butter on the top of the lid and then salted the heck out of it before putting it into the microwave. A little tip…… I use only stick butter from the fridge (cold). I don’t get the same results from using the butter in the tubs. I have had some crappy results with popping corn BUT the results were a direct result of trying a different kind of popcorn. My wife purchased a few different types and brands of corn. One type of corn (I can’t remember the name) would just lay in the bottom of the popper and burn with possibly 1% popped. However, that same corn did fantastic in a pot on the stove (98%) popped but then we tried it in our air-popper and it produced approximately 70% popped. Another type of popcorn she bought produced a lousy (20% this popper), (50% stovetop), (90% Air Popped). And another brand of popcorn she bought produced fairly similar results with each of the methods I mentioned above. So in conclusion I find that it isn’t so much a (popper) problem that yields more popped kernels but the actual corn that makes the big difference. We still have our century old 1000 watt turntable style microwave so it isn’t the oven that changes. It’s pretty clear to me that the “magic” is in the kernel not the popper. So if you are experiencing problems with your popper not popping the corn then before you blame the device try and use a different brand of kernel. After all this writing about popcorn and butter and poppers, I am wanting some popcorn RIGHT NOW! I hope this update will help some of you guys with your popper. One last tip; Do as I did and spend some time reading about what popcorn really is and learn from the experts that grow it and make a living doing it. There is an endless stream of information on popcorn available. I actually learned a lot and now that I am aware of just why certain popcorn reacts differently to the various methods of popping it. I learned the proper ways to store it and now understand the differences in water content in the kernels and how that affects the speed, size and texture of the popped kernels. A dry kernel will not pop. Popcorn requires moisture content in each kernel. It’s the moisture that turns into steam inside the kernel that causes it to explode into the popcorn we all love. So check out the world of popcorn and see for yourself. The industry of popcorn is much larger than I ever expected. Learning about popcorn has pretty much eliminated any bad popping experience that we used to get even before purchasing this popper years ago. I expect that this popper will continue to make popcorn for us for quite a long time yet. Yet another update on this story. The date is February 5, 2025. I was darn sure that by date of 2025 that making popcorn was going to be the function of our kitchen robot, like on the Jetsons. But not so. Instead we have Alexa and Seri. Both won’t shut up and they are constantly arguing about something they are not capable of understanding and now my ChatGPT has joined in on my future kitchen. I should have known back in the early 1960’s that the future is not going to be like everyone thought it would be. HOWEVER, I still own a perfectly good corn popper that was never considered back then. Of course, no Radar Ranges to use with the popper. I purchased it back in June of 2021 and we have used it multiple times per week since the day we received it. As of today it is still in perfect shape and still pops a great bowl of popcorn. Still have the same obsolete microwave. Possibly on its last leg. The platter still turns but with a heck of a clunking sound but nonetheless it still works great with the red globe popper. I plan on updating this review later this year on the 4 year anniversary of the purchase of the popper. If I haven’t made myself clear then read this…. BUY IT NOW. BE GENTLE AND IT WILL LAST! Happy popping!! ... show more

  • Popcorn addiction
Size: 3-Quart Family Size Color: Red
I absolutely love popcorn and this is a game changer. I usually cook my popcorn on the stove, but this is so easy to just put in the microwave with the butter and walk away. It is easy to clean, and uses less butter and oil which makes it a healthy snack option. The speed in which it cooks, and the amount of popcorn it holds is perfect. I would have given it 5 stars, but the only reason it got 4 is because of how hot the glass gets after cooking. ... show more

LOVE this. I purchased the 3 quart and found that my microwave needs 4 minutes, but it's easy to hear when the kernels slow down. The popcorn turned out very nicely and the butter melting feature is nice. So easy to use and clean.

  • Time for Popcorn
Size: 3-Quart Family Size Color: Red
I love popcorn and hate to buy the big bags to keep it on hand. Easy use & clean up. Took way longer to pop in my microwave than it said in the instructions. Play with the timing in your microwave. Popcorn was really good and only a dozen kernels didn't pop.

  • Pretty big and doesn't fit in my microwave.
Size: 3-Quart Family Size Color: Teal
The popcorn this thing produced after I took my turntable out of my microwave to fit it---was subpar. Lots of unpopped kernels and hard popcorn. As if the popcorn wasn't fresh and I thought that was the problem. I put the same popcorn in a frying pan, matter of fact I used the unpopped kernels from this item---NOT ONLY was it better tasting, it was soft. I don't know if soft is the right word for what I'm trying to describe... But yeah, don't buy this. I gave it three stars for construction. Its sturdy. ... show more

  • Highly recommend!
Size: 3-Quart Family Size Color: Red
I agree with other reviewers that you have to play around with time and method. For me, I pour enough kernels to evenly cover the bottom. I add a tablespoon of coconut oil and a tablespoon of butter to the lid. I found that butter, alone, would start to brown at the bottom of the bowl and the addition of the oil helps to contend with the heat. My microwave has a rotating plate, I place my popcorn bowl on the outer edge of the plate and set it to a full 5 minute on high. Doing so yields a full bowl of popcorn with little to no unpopped kernels. I salt at the end in a separate bowl, as the glass bowl obviously gets very hot, as others have noted. Overall, I love the ease of this glass bowl in the microwave. Faster and easier than stovetop; and cheaper and less chemicals than conventional microwave popcorn. ... show more

  • Works great and is easier than stove top!
Size: 1.5-Quart Snack Size Color: Teal
I love popcorn and this makes it so easy to make! A better measuring method for how much popcorn can be made at a time would be helpful because one lid only makes a small amount (probably the appropriate amount for one person, but I like an inappropriate amount at a time). The handle doesn't get hot so it's easy to take out and the smaller size is the perfect size for my microwave. I don't know if the large one would be too tight of a fit. The popcorn pops well but you do have to keep an eye on it because kernels get stuck and burn easier when you don't use anything to cook them with. I used butter flavored coconut oil and it was perfect and I didn't have any issues with it melting through to the kernels. ... show more
