Amazing trickle charger. My car was dead from not being used for more than two weeks (21 yr old car) and this brought it back to life. Clamped the negative and positive on easily and left it for 3 days in the sun and it charged it up. Was able to start the car as if the battery never died. You can easily mount this solar panel on the windshield on the front or you can just have it sit on top of your car. Placing this is very versatile and won't matter as long as you get enough sun on it. Very light too and works very well. Car sits alot; Lot of short trips. Use it one day a week or so? Will come back in few years and see how it affects battery life. Definitely helps car start day after charge compared to day before usually. Love the ODBII connector. Only attached when car sitting still.

I was going to give these a zero and return them because they are not idiot proof. But after two hours of dinking around with a multimeter i figured out why my charge controller wouldn’t work with the panels. I needed a reverse polarity adapter to connect the alligator clips to the solar panel or the red is - and black is +. The SAE connectors are backwards on the cable from the panel and on the alligator clips. If you try to hook this up out of the box to a charge controller you need two reverse polarity sae adapters. One to connect to the panel and one to connect to the charge controller. I ordered two of these panels and they don’t come with reverse polarity adapters. So out of the box these don’t work unless you hook them to your battery backward. It took me dinking around for two hours with a multimeter to figure out why the leds on my charge controller went out when I hooked to my battery since I am not an electrician. Luckily I have three adapters that came with the charge controllers I bought. The directions need to be more clear for people who aren’t electrical engineers. didnt work for me. left it plugged in to my 2018 ford focus OBD port for a couple months. The battery was able to crank the engine at the time i plugged this device in. I went to start up the car recently and it wouldnt turn over. dead battery. the solar panel was exposed to plenty of sun and the green indicator light was on. ... show more

Seems to work although I'm yet to see the indicator flashing green which would indicate battery fully charged, despite brand new battery and multiple days in full sun. Works amazingly. I have an old truck that only gets driven once every 2 weeks. Id have trouble starting it every time. I have this plugged into the obd2 with the panel inside on the dash and haven't had trouble with the car battery since.
