  • Light weight and low priced, but questionable quality
Color: 25QT Dark Blue
I'm a die hard Yeti fan. My wife bought me a $550.00 Yeti 110 for Father's Day 2021 (she got a 20% first responder discount) because my 8 year old and 5 year old sons would sing Chris Janson's song "I wanna buy me a boat." That cooler has seen many camping trips along with trips on our boat and trips to the [Colorado] River. It's our go to and favorite cooler. But... It's big and heavy. I mean really HEAVY when fully loaded up. In fact, I had to buy a special cart on Amazon for $150.00 just to haul it around. I needed a smaller cooler for those times we didn't need the 110. My natural inclination was to just get a Yeti Roadie 24, but that costs over $250.00. I got a post that Amazon was having a prime day deal on the East Oak 25 qt cooler and many reviewers said it was just as good as a Yeti. For about 1/3 the cost and with Amazon's return policy, I decided to give it a try. First off, the actual cooler is well built and extremely light, weighing roughly 16 pounds empty (compared to 50 for the Yeti 110). The packaging was first rate, but the actual exterior of the cooler was less than acceptable. If you look at the pics, it almost seems like the cooler was used and someone spilled stuff on it and tried to wipe it off but it didn't come off. Also, there are production artifacts along the lip that are indicative of poor quality control. So aesthetically, the East Oak loses to the Yeti. I always prechill my coolers, meaning a day or two before I need to use it, I fill it with ice or ice packs and then when I'm ready to really use it, I dump the prechill ice, fill the cooler about 1/3 with fresh ice, then put my COLD items in, then cover the remainder with ice. I also drain the water daily and add additional ice. I'm not one to do long term endurance tests. I usually refill ice daily regardless of the brand of cooler, and the East Oak did just fine. That being said, it excelled with its portability and light weight. Even full of ice and drinks, I could easily carry it out of my Jeep or minivan and up stairs or down to the beach or pool. So for portability, handling and ease of use, the East Oak wins. In high double digit temperatures, it kept my drinks and fruit cool, but the ice melted. Even in my Yeti, that kind of heat just takes its toll. So for keeping things cool, it's a draw. I'm going to Vegas this weekend in my black Jeep and it's supposed to be in the high 110's to 120F. This will be a real world torture test to see how well it keeps my waters cold while we drive around from casino to casino and on our drive to and from Vegas (5-7 hours each way in traffic and hot temps). When those results are in, I'll update my review. For now, the quality, especially for the colored versions, is meh. I'm sure the white coolers don't show the defects like the darker ones. It just looks like my cooler is a couple of years old rather than days old... So for now, advantage Yeti... UPDATE 08/09/23 The East Oak performed flawlessly. Our drinks in Vegas and in Laughlin stayed cool, even when the car was parked in the sun. Ice retention was good and the drinks stayed cool, especially when the water was drained frequently. Is it as good as a Yeti?.. YES! It kept the ice frozen and drinks cool for just as long (the Yeti did have more ice than the East Oak, but for our use, it was a draw). The only downside is that the East Oak is NOT water tight sealed. If there is water and ice in the cooler and you carry the cooler against the front of your body and bounce it around, you WILL GET WET. You need to drain it daily before moving it, especially in the hot sun. I keep this thing in my Jeep, full of ice, daily. I put cold groceries, drinks, waters, etc. in it and it's nice to always have a cold drink or a cold place to put things when I'm driving around or doing errands. I really can't say enough about the portability and size and light weight. It's the most used cooler I've ever had and if I never experienced or heard of a Yeti, it could be my only [small] cooler. ... show more

  • Beautiful cooler
Color: 25QT Arctic White
This is a great cooler and has managed to consistently hold its temperature better than others we own. The shape makes it a bit difficult to fill or store and almost impossible to move if it's loaded simply by a single person carrying it. The rope-style handles are questionable in its ability to support all of the weight for frequent use. But this cooler is incredibly sturdy and a couple of adults (or one larger one) can comfortably sit on top and feel supported. So, the knocks are for the ability to carry fully loaded and questionable handles (but many other coolers also have these, too) and the ability to store items inside if packaged in square or rectangular shapes or in a garage or storage area if there are many other items stored around it. If they improve the design to include attaching a wheeled handle system, this would be a five star review. ... show more

  • Out Performed Our Yeti
Color: 25QT Arctic White
I bought the smaller 25 QT cooler for on the table for our mid-summer party to keep ice on the table. Mid day I went to the cooler with anticipation that I would be draining the water out from the melted ice and adding new ice. To my surprise, I assumed my husband had already done this because there was to what I seen little to no melted ice and I just needed to add a half a bag of ice to fill. I later found out the cooler was actually holding it's own during this hot day. So we tested it out on the following weekend and kept the cooler full with beverages and ice on our patio. The ice lasted 3 full days on our back patio with mid 80 degree temps and warm evenings. This is our new go to cooler and ordered the larger one to replace our larger, very expensive yeti. ... show more

  • Stays cool, looks cool
Color: 45QT Ivory White
Cool false bottom cold water retention system -- keeps cold, but doesn't soak the contents. Easy and sturdy drain/plug action, too. Lid works great, either hinged on one clamp or all the way off. Closed, it's secure and gasketed. Not maneuverable, full -- since we were in bear country and had to stow everything in the truck nightly we just left it in the truck. Otherwise it would make a great footstool/low camp table. A little concerned about the longevity of the rope handles, but otherwise well-made and satisfying. Wonder what the four threaded holes in the bottom are for..?! ... show more

  • It’s doing its job!
Color: Arctic White
I bought this for grocery store trips in hot weather. Although it does take up most of my trunk space, it is working great! Refrigerated and frozen foods keep well until I finish errands and return home. I bought the 45quart size which fits everything perfectly. I don’t use ice, I use the frozen ice packs. Putting them in the cooler in the morning of the day I shop, by the time I am ready to go the cooler is ready too. Even ice cream stayed frozen! I fill reusable bags with my purchases when unloading at home, leaving the cooler undisturbed in my car trunk. It certainly is unique being round, but a rectangular one would probably fit in the trunk better. It is a bit heavy and because of the design, it takes 2 people to carry it around. It’s working a lot better than the insulated bags I used to use. ... show more

  • This thing is amazing
Color: Arctic White
We camped on the beach over the 4th of July. Temps were in the high 90’s and over 100! We put the meats we needed for our meals in this cooler with a couple 8 pound bags of ice. This cooler stayed so cold, we had to actually chip the ice away from the food!

  • This is the perfect cooler
Color: 25QT Arctic White
Reading reviews were great except some said it was awkward to carry by being round. I actually feel opposite of this and think the round design is easier to handle and transport. Holds a lot of beverages and keeps cold for days. Recommend this cooler
