My son Who is 31 years old and works as an auto mechanic likes to sleep on his bare mattress with no sheets. He works as an auto mechanic so he gets pretty dirty. I’ve been looking for something to cover the mattress that’s machine washable and would protect it. This product seems to fit the bill. I like the fact that it comes in a color I got it in the gray color. It is silky and slippery and soft and feels great against your body when you’re sleeping. I highly recommend us for people who do not like to use a top or bottom sheet. Or you can put a sheet on top of it and it will definitely protect your mattress and make you more comfortable. My husband and I bought a new bedroom suit, upgrading our mattress size to king. We opted for a cheap mattress since we were buying the suit, with plans to replace the mattress at a later date. The mattress we purchased was memory foam. Memory foam can make you sweat, and our mattress does just that. So much so that we will likely wind up having to replace it sooner than later, not saving anything in the long run. I purchased this cover for two reasons. First, to try to cut down on the sweating. Second, I can’t wash the mattress, so I always add a mattress pad or protector that can be washed if needed. My review of this pad is that it’s sort of like a thick, fluffy comforter. It’s kind of squishy. I am not sure what I was expecting but I was going for the feel of a pillow top. It doesn’t feel like that but it doesn’t feel like you just tucked a comforter under your sheet either. All I can say is that it made the mattress a lot softer. Whether that is a good thing or not is a matter of opinion. My husband doesn’t sleep well on it but didn’t sleep well on the mattress. He still sweats but not as much (didn’t on our old pillow top - it’s the mattress). I wouldn’t say that this would resolve that issue/cool you down that much. He also says it is too soft in comparison to our daughter’s (doesn’t have the pad on her bed). I tend to think that his issues can’t be resolved without replacing the mattress and am not going to blame them on the pad. The fact is, I doubt there is a pad on the market that would make him like our current mattress any more than he does. As for me? I like it. Our old pillow top had gotten too soft for me (your core changes quite a bit when you have twins!) and I was having trouble getting in and out of bed at night to check on the kids. My hips were hurting constantly and my back spasms made it more efficient for me to just sleep on the couch. The new mattress was a bit uncomfortable for me, and this pad improved my quality of sleep tremendously. It is soft enough that my hips don’t kill me when I lay on my side at night, my back spasms have mostly stopped so that I’m better able to get in and out of bed with the kids, and I just feel comfortable when I’m laying in it. I am not someone that has ever owned an expensive mattress and this is an improvement over the egg crates we used to use when I was a kid. My mom and sister liked it enough to get one for their beds and have liked using them so far (they have the same mattress and found it uncomfortable as well.... I have not laundered mine but my sister washes hers weekly and has not complained). At the end of the day, this mattress cover is not going to make your mattress feel like a pillow top or high end mattress if it isn’t. It also isn’t going to make your mattress feel like you crammed a comforter under your sheets. It doesn’t slide around or bunch up. It is not going to solve any problems with night sweats, and it is probably going to be too soft if you like a firm mattress. What it is likely to do is add some cushion to an otherwise too firm mattress. If your mattress is so unsupportive that your hips hurt when you lay on your side at night, it might help. If you’re tossing and turning and not sleeping well because of that sort of thing, it may help. If you just want to add a little cushion, it might help. If you just want a mattress cover you can launder, it would work (I don’t believe it is waterproof but we didn’t need that). As for us, it is an okay purchase. Didn’t solve my husband’s problems but solved mine and I’m grateful for that. I’m sure that we will soon be replacing the mattress with a better quality, non memory foam one, and when we do, we won’t be using this any longer. For now, I think it was worth the money. I don’t have any complaints so I’m giving it 5 stars. That doesn’t mean it upgraded our mattress - it just means that it does what I believe it was advertised to do and I got what I expected from it. ... show more

I needed more custion on an old queen set. I love my bed but it is old. My hips go numb sleeping on my side. I flip side to side all night. I picked this topper based on all the good reviews. So far I've only taken a nap on it. It was so comfortable! It's the first time in about a year i woke up with no pain. If you are looking for the most inexpensive upgrade to an old mattress I would definetely recommend. ... show more

I have a foam mattress that was supposed to be medium but it is very firm. I was starting to experience some back pain. I read quite a few reviews before purchasing this mattress pad. Once I received it, I threw it in the washer then dryer. I dried it about 3 cycles to get it as fluffy as possible. Once satisfied, I put it on my bed and I have to say it has helped so much. I bought this to use on a new memory foam mattress. This pad is just a thick mattress pad. It makes no difference in the feel of the new mattress. The pad is very nice but it does nothing that a regular good quality pad will not do. I think it is a bit pricey for a mattress pad. I have washed it and used it so I will keep it but I do not recommend it over a regular mattress pad. ... show more

I was stuck on this or a foam topper, but didn't want to spend the money on one. Since this is for me when I sleep in my infant room, eventually she will sleep on this. And I didn't want something that was gonna slide around for her to get under and possibly trapped. This fit well, easy to put on. It's not fluffy and full, more like a thin duvet you'd use in the Summer time. It works for the price to help this hard twin mattress. I had to wash it a few times with vinegar and fabric softener in separate washes to get rid of the smellm I also let it air out in the laundry room for almost another whole day. And dried it on delicate with a sock with tennis balls to help fluff it ( I do this with my comforters and duvets too). ... show more

This, by far, is the most comfortable mattress pad I've ever owned. It feels like I'm sleeping on a cloud. I washed it right away out of the box. Some reviewers said they let it fill out first, but the instructions said the dryer has the same effect. And, they didn't lie. It fluffed up wonderfully in the dryer after washing. Now, the only misleading part is the "cooling" effect. I have a cooling mattress from Ashley furniture. The mattress is always cold. This pad doesn't have cooling properties. It doesn't let the cold come up from the mattress. That being said, it doesn't really hold in heat either. It's very comfortable. Even in Florida summers! (You still need to run your AC though!) ... show more

I love it. My mattress is pretty deep; it can fit a deeper one. This will obliterate any lumpiness in your mattress, lol. It is a deep charcoal, very nice. I didn't buy it for waterproofing or anything like that and I will assume it doesn't do that anyway. I have a half pint washer dryer, it will in no way wash this. Go double size at a laundromat.
