I bought this set as gift for a starter fisherman as a compliment to the Ugly Stick combo that I bought for them. It made a fine gift. The set is not jam packed for the money, but it is a good container, with room for a few additional lures and tackle. It would make a great back packable kit for hiking and survival use. If I ever hiked the Appalachian trail, I would consider stocking this kit heavily and packing it with a collapsible survival fishing rod.

I know some people have dinged this set less than 5* because they believe it should be more than a starter kit. Personally, that's why I'm giving it 5*s. I bought it as a starter kit for my son. The basics are here. There's plenty of pieces to get anybody going for genetic fishing. Should you be after trout, for example, I would suggest the Eagle Claw Trout Kit .

The Plano box is great but the items inside kind of suck. The hooks rust really quick whether you use it fresh water or saltwater. Also some off the hooks are to soft and can bend really easy. Much of the items are to small for my use. I use the plano box to store other fishing lures and so on.

For the price this is pretty good. Box that it comes in is much larger than the amount of gear you get, but that doesnt mean you don't get a decent amount. Either you can fill up the tackle box it comes in, or pare it down to fit in a small plano 5 compartment box like I did. good buy for $10.
