  • It's yuge! (and flies well)
I'm not a fan of foam models, but we're already half-way through flying season and I wanted something I could get into the air fast. That said, it still took me several hours to assemble and prep. I already owned some 6S-5000 batteries, which helped me choose this particular model. I limited the throttle curve to 80%. This isn't necessary, but I like flying in a more scale-like fashion and I get longer flight times per battery. For example, with a 10 min timer and a few go-arounds afterward, I still read 3.8v per cell. Your mileage may vary. Two issues with assembly: First, the metal motor mounting plate was pre-attached to the motor backwards. There are alignment ridges molded into the plastic firewall. The plate is not symmetrical - it only fits within those ridges one way. I had to remove the screws, flip it and re-install. I chose to orient the motor leads to the left side (as you face the nose) because the right-thrust offset of the motor allows more room there. The second issue was with the various allen-head screws. They are metric, but my wrenches were strangely loose in the hexes. I even tried an SAE set just to see if I made the wrong assumption. Nope, they're metric, just poorly sized. At least one screw had to be tightened with pliers when the allen wrench wouldn't bite well enough to turn it. Also, I replaced the two self-tapping screws in the nose because the 1.5mm hex didn't have enough grip to tighten them either. The wheels are hard foam, much like the rest of the model. They only weigh 95 grams each. Compare that to 330 each for the Dubro inflatable 6". I like the Dubro, but that's 16oz more for the pair! I left the foam ones on. Flight - this is where it shines. It's big, smooth, predictable, maneuverable, forgiving and easy to see. Take offs are practically automatic. Landings are just a matter of lining up and getting the flair right. I like to carry just a touch of throttle though, because the prop acts like an air brake if I don't. I did full and mid-flap stalls high up and all it did was mush or porpoise a little bit. Maybe that's the AS3X in action, (can I even turn that off?) but if it was going to drop a wing, I think it would have. The best part is how docile and playful it can be. On the third flight I was doing little figure-8 wing-overs on the other side of the runway with the low points no more than 10 feet and absolutely no nervousness about it. It's one of those models that just goes where my mind points it. I'm pretty happy with it. I wish it was made of wood, but still, happy. ... show more

  • Great flier but needs improvement on quality
Great looking plane however too many bents in foam, decals not attached to the surfaces, and landing gear not glued/attached to fuselage correctly. For $500.00 manufacturing needs to improve on their quality!

  • Love it
Simple, easy build and setup. Flys like it's on rails with power to spare. 5s 5000 lipo gives 10mins of fly time, even when doing aerobatics. Goes with me everytime to the airfield.

  • Eflite Carbon-Z 150 2.1m bnf
Awesome product from Eflite. Make sure you check the contents in the box and that all the servos move freely. The aileron servos in the wing were accidentally glued, preventing them to operate freely and link properly with the Transmitter. Eflite ordered new ones that were on backorder

  • Bad reviews?? This plane is incredible!
I've owned a carbon z Cessna 150 for a few years. I was looking for a new battery and noticed bad reviews on this plane. This airplane is the best RC plane of the 15 or 20 I've owned. It's absolutely gorgeous, it flies like a dream, is super easy to fly, I have the floats and it's great off the water too. If you do somehow get a lemon, just return it, but I'd be shocked if one of these actually would arrive in anything but perfect condition, unless it suffered shipping damage. This plane is a 10 or of 10. It's got the same lights as the real Cessna and the way they designed it, everything connects when you insert the wings. This plane has the best design of any I've ever seen. Worth every cent. ... show more
