As far as fans go, I have other floor fans that somehow blow cooler air than the room temperature. This one doesn't do that, but it does have a nice breeze. Even on the highest setting, it's almost like a medium-high for other fans. Since it is an air purifier first, I can see it's limitations. The front display has a real time air quality display which is nice. You can also view this in the app which was easy to setup for me and haven't had any issues with it yet. As a combination device, it works well cleaning and cooling the near vicinity. I would use it more as an air purifier first and fan as just a secondary option this has if you have no other fans. The filter design is unique and replacing them is kinda cool. Filter prices for this are more than the average air purifier filters if you are spending annually. My other air purifier is under $50/filter where as this is calculated to be around $70/filter for the same length of 1 year's use. You can find 2 filters cheaper than the price of one OEM just by searching here on Amazon. Obviously they have made a name for themselves and their design is very influential and noticeable. It's a pretty but odd looking device that somewhat shows money. I think you're paying extra for the brand/design. I love my Dyson vacuums and their air wraps are highly sought after. This on the other hand, I would probably pass on it and go for something a little less... extra. My other air purifier works very well at a fraction of the price and no app. But if you decide to go for the brand and design, it will do it's job well as a purifier, and the fan can be considered 'calmer' in the sense that it's not too loud and it gives off a very steady airflow to cool you down. I'll preface this with saying I've wanted a Dyson fan since I first saw their desk model in a store years ago, but their price point has always intimidated me. After finally getting a Dyson vacuum on sale, I started to understand what the hype about the brand was about. Make no mistake, this is expensive and a luxury item for sure, but it is feature packed. It's lightweight so as soon as I unpacked it I was able to carry it upstairs easily. This is good and bad in my opinion. I'm a little hesitant about longevity because of how light it feels, but I've had great luck with their vacuums so I'm hoping that carries to this. Setup of the unit was a breeze and it comes with a remote control so if you don't want to install the app, you don't have to. With that said, I think you're missing out on a ton by NOT using the app, but I'll get there in a minute. I like that the remote is a rose gold color so it's easily found, but wish the buttons had something to make them stand out more, whether visually or tactilely. In dim light there's no way I can see what's what and by touch it's hard. My husband didn't seem to have much trouble though so YMMV. Apparently you can also control it by voice controls, but I haven't set that up and it's through the app. On to the app. Set up was a breeze and it includes a QR code directly on the unit for downloading the app from both stores. You need an account and it only took a couple of minutes to set it up. If you provide your location (just city, mildly annoying I couldn't search by zip), it'll provide ambient data along with what it senses in the room. Our air quality was listed as "Fair". Without any guidance, I tapped on that and it took me to information. Everything on the screen is explained well as shown in the pics. If you enable history, it'll give you a ln air quality report over time, although it's unclear what will be included in that. Within a couple of hours the room quality went from "Fair" to "Good". At night, we used the fan and it has 360 oscillation. It's surprisingly powerful for how quiet it is and did a great job of cooling the room. It's highly customizable with schedules and such, but you can also just set it to "Auto" and let it do its thing. Overall I'm in love with this with just a couple of minor complaints: - I wish I could see a running history in the app. Another smart humidifier brand has that where I can see the air quality for the past 24hrs and past few days, but this doesn't seem to have that - the remote is too streamlined for me to use so the app is a necessity for me personally. My husband doesn't have that issue and prefers to keep using the remote - PRICE. This is the big kicker for me. It's highly advanced, but super pricey, which is to be expected for a Dyson. It's early, but I wish it felt a little more solid. If it helps with our allergies and asthma though, it'll be worth its weight in gold. If you can afford the splurge, give it a try for sure. I'm not sure if the improvements of this model over the "cheaper" one are gimmicky or not, but I did notice the air smelled cleaner in the room this morning and it absolutely felt cooler. ... show more
