  • Southern California Fires
Style: 5,500-Watt Dual Fuel
This item works well. We got it because we loose power all the time when it's windy due to the power company turning off power for days due to increased risk of fire. This generater makes life so much more barable for the kids as well as keeps our food cold. It's easy to move so we can just move it out back when the power goes out. It's easy to start. It is a bit noisy but no worse than any other gas powered generators. It can run multiple appliances and electronics at one time. Greatful for this generator. ... show more

  • So far so good
Style: 5,500-Watt Dual Fuel
The generator has a total of 3 hours and runs as expected and am happy with my purchase. While it has few hours, it runs very well. Noise level is OK. A couple of comments are in order. The propane starting instructions on the placard attached to the generator states to turn the fuel lever to on. This is a misprint as It should be in the off position as stated in the operating manual. Could not start the engine with the choke in the closed position. Once I partially opened it, engine started immediately. I sent a note to tech support on a question I had and after 2 weeks I still hadn't received a response. Hopefully I won't need them in the future. Ignoring customers doesn't bode well for their company. For now I'll give a 5 star rating based on engine/generator performance. ... show more

Style: 5,500-Watt Dual Fuel
all i needed was a 5 k generator, i have a fridge/freezer and baseboard gas heat i need to run in an outage. this will do that and my lights, router, cameras and a couple tv's. the shipment got delayed twice, the shipping label had to be replaced twice so i was expecting it to come beat up. it arrived in perfect condition. took no time attaching the legs, wheels and handles. what did take a lot of time was the negative battery cable, now if the mfr only made it an inch longer it would be so much easier (tip, put the screw in backwards so the nut is on the outside). i put in the oil, fuel and it started first try. i am going to run it for 3 1 hour sessions, change the oil, repeat then put in synthetic. i also plan on running it monthly and charging it 1-2 times a year (although the pull start should be a reliable backup, have to try that tonight). overall very happy with the purchase. i would do it again, i might even go bigger, although i have no need to. ... show more

  • A good little machine
Style: 5,500-Watt Dual Fuel
We're pretty sure the one we got was a return, as the tags were all off or torn and there was no funnel. However it looked new at first glance, and we started setting it up. It all went well until we put the oil in, not easy without the funnel which has a tube to get the oil in at an awkward angle. We tipped it and used our own funnel. It is nice and small and easy to move. It started right up and seems to be working fine, our electrician installed the connection and tested everything out. This is the one he recommended and we're happy with it so far. It's enough to power our 1,200 SqFt. cottage except AC and dryer. We mostly need it for the well pump, fridge and freezer. Recently lost power for 2 days and being without water was a real challenge, thank goodness we're on a lake for flushes! But by the second night we needed a hotel for showers and hot breakfast. Edit: The funnel was somewhere inside the machine, we never saw it the whole time we were assembling. Noticed an odor upon running, though it was "burn off", no it was the funnel melting :( We're not stupid, we put stuff together all the time, it 's either poor packing or whoever returned it stuck it in a weird spot! ... show more

  • This is a very good generator.
Style: 5,500-Watt Dual Fuel
This is review is for the XP500HX 1. Amazon delivered this and the box was not damaged. 2. The assembly went smoothly and all the tools that were needed were supplied. 3. It started right away with propane but a half an hour later it stopped. So I tried regular gas and it started running again. So I called the number in the user manual and got an person right away. I told the person what happened and what I did and he sent me a new propane regulator to fix the problem when it runs on propane. 4. Now I have a quiet running generator that works on gas and propane. ... show more

  • Pricey. comes w/ good warranty. Bonus cover upon registration. Splurge fur duel fuel. It's worth it.
Style: 5,500-Watt Dual Fuel
Haven't tried it yet. Our other one was stolen. This one is a 5500 duel fuel. Two yrs ago I bought the 4400 DuroMax Duel Fuel and it was great. Easy to use. Glad I had it last year for hurricane Milton. Love the duel fuel option. I'm sure it's going to be fine. Little more than I wanted to spend especially after looking at the receipt from two yrs ago for the 4400. 300+$ difference. It DOES COME WITH ITS OWN THREE YEAR WARRANTEE parts and service. Save your money. l would t spend for extra warranty unless it started AFTER the manufacturer's expired. Not usually the case. ... show more

  • Sent unusable generator, missing piece not available until FEB 2023!
Style: 5,500-Watt Dual Fuel
3 - SECOND UPDATE: Dec 21 - I'm being told that the missing bracket is not available until Feb 2023 making the generator I bought in Nov 2022 unusable until the end of winter, they are selling generators with missing pieces - this is fraud, and theft by deception, they took my $550 only to knowingly send an unusable product, so IF they are continuing to sell them without this bracket you will get an unusable generator, or if brackets are available they would have a bracket to send to me. DO NOT PURCHASE, you will not have all the necessary pieces to put it together until FEB 2023 at the soonest according to Brandon Bower in their customer service: Hello Heather That is what I mentioned in my last message. The axle bracket was the only piece out of stock and showed an ETA of Feb 2023. We will send it once we receive it, but that would be the soonest I can receive this part. Thank you, Brandon Brower Support Team 1 -Received this generator prior to the first snow storm, unfortunately when I went to put it together it was missing all but two parts. It was missing the screw driver, spanner, spark plug wrench, wheel kit, and plug ends, making it useless while my power was out for a couple days. It is very heavy and almost impossible to move without the wheels. Called Duramax only to get a recording and no call back. I have emailed and still awaiting a response. Very frustrating. I should have gone local with this big purchase so at lease if things were missing I could go and get the items. 2 - UPDATE: after a phone call, this review, and some emails I was sent a package with more parts, unfortunately there is still a part missing, a bracket for the wheel kit, making the generator still unusable because the axel for the wheels would only be attached to one side where the bracket is welded on the rod. I have emailed again and hope to get the parts soon before winter is over. (I tried to find a similar bracket at a big box store to no avail). I have again emailed for parts to be sent ASAP, so we'll see. SEE SECOND UPDATE ABOVE : ( ... show more

  • Worked perfectly
Style: 5,500-Watt Dual Fuel
Used this during Helene and Milton 2024.Only used propane. Runs about 7.5 hours on half load with a 15lb tank. make sure to use the proper gauge extension cords for your products. Choke needs to be about a quarter slide towards on until generator starts then push the slide to open all the way. No issues at all. Though the oil plug to drain the oil is tough to reach if you don't have a proper ratchet and it opens right over a support bar, so it's hard to get a container in there to catch the old oil. Ran a total of 51 hours with absolutely no issues. Yup, it's loud. ... show more
