  • Better than expected...
For the price, these are solid tools... they not Snap-on or anything but they also won't cost you hundreds of dollars.

  • Great Quality for Value
For the cost, this is a great value. It is a mid-range quality, at a low-mid range price. Nothing in the set has broken so far, so I'd say that the quality is great. The steel is hard enough that it won't round out the hex drivers and sockets, which I've had problems with in the past with some other small screwdriver sets especially. The hex drivers are the weakest part of this set. The things I look for in tools are: 1). Ball heads for hex drivers 2). Tolerances- When tightening, how much slop/play is available between the driver and fastener. This includes the fillet radius at the head of the driver (e.g., the 6 smallest sides on the face of the allen key), which are not great for this set. For shallow heads, this increases the chance the driver will slip off the fastener and round/strip it. Some brands also include laser drilled textures on the heads for better gripping and less chance it will slip out but this is expensive. For a socket, how small the angle is between teeth (how many clicks per rotation) for tightening where little room is available? (This set is about average) 3). Handle - is there an grippy plastic sleeve or a T-handle for easier use? 4). Quality of steel- Might be controversial, but I don't think this matters that much so long as the business end isn't rounding out or deforming. For most household uses, I'm not needing to apply nearly enough force to yield the steel or bend the shaft permanently. That said, I'm not sure about using this kit for frequent (weekly/daily) automotive or machinery use... If you have a specialized use, I recommend Wera (which seem to be the most common in labs and industry that I have seen). They can run $3-$10 per screwdriver/socket, so to get all of the tools for this set I would expect to pay around $600-1000 or so. "Snap-on" brand seems to be regarded as way overpriced and more of a bragging rights thing ("we have enough money for it") than a utility. Some youtubers like AvE (BOLTR videos) have way more experience than me in this and go into more detail for professional use. The higher end tool brands have extra gimmicks (color coded to find the right size easier), which I think usually are not worth it unless the tools will be used with high frequency (e.g. 10-20 times/day, every day). An example of this is an industrial/auto shop use where part holders have a certain fastener and parts are changed out every hour. ... show more

  • This kit "ROCKS!"
I like these "kit" sets because they keep everything organized and make it obvious if anything is missing, and enable mobility (taking the tools to the job). It also encourages the practice of wiping down items before putting them back in the kit. Deep sockets are so important to have when you need them. The plastic case itself Is surprising good quality. Latches are metal and made to last as long as you don't allow them to rust (they are steel and not aluminum). The case is roomy, so that there is less fumbling to get the size you need, and spacious enough for large lettering which is actually legible! The case itself is a tool for getting what you need out of it, and keeping you organized, and for general storage while not in use. Some thought went into this case, as well as the thickness of plastic. Its going to stand up to the rigors that come with mobility. The block lettering on the sockets are legible, clear, and deep enough that the plating does not obscure them. But of course among the smaller sizes, it is easier to reference the markings in the case. The ad says, "surface heat treatment and plating of bright chromium." I don't know if the plating on these will chip if they are used hard or abused, but if they ever do chip, I would expect rust due to no layered protection such as double or triple chrome plating. The finger wheel only fits the 3/8 drive ratchet, but is stored in the case under the 1/4 drive socket for some reason I have not figured out. The 3/8 drive does fit back into the case with the finger wheel left on, but the wheel does not stay up near the head, and flops around between the head and the retaining ball on the shank. The type of plastic used for this finger wheel should be more rigid, too. It's so pliable that you get the sense that it is weak. The finger wheel fits over the shank AND the retaining ball. I would think it should fit the shank snugly, requiring you to push the release button for it to come off or put back on. I'm going to try getting one off an old ratchet and putting it on this one (and tossing the one that came with this set). The one supplied will probably fall off repeatedly during use when switching socket sizes, and just be a general distraction, if not frustrating. So much thought went into designing this kit, but I just don't know what they were thinking with that finger-wheel. Admittedly, it is trivial to a user. I never tried these "push button" ratchet heads before, and wow, are they worth having! The handles are long enough to apply the torque suitable to a 3/8 and 1/4 drive, respectively. If you ever feel a need to put a pipe or extension on these handles, I suggest you go to a 1/2 drive, rather than abuse these beauties and the fine tooth ratchet gear in the head. The fine teeth mean you get more work done when you have limited room to move the handle back and forth. Both the 1/4 and the 3/8 extensions are 3 inches. Having a 6 inch for the 3/8 size is the only thing I found lacking in this set, but minor given you get metric and SAE Allen wrenches and that staggering array of bits. The bits are short shank, and therefore generally not suitable for use in a variable speed drill. However, they do include a female adapter type socket that will marry the bits to the 1/4 ratchet, if the hand driver (similar to a screwdriver) is not getting the job done for you. Among the bits is an adapter that mates the 1/4 sockets to the hand driver; but the nut drivers included in this kit make that adapter redundant, IMO. Nevertheless, if you have a 1/4 drive "hex socket set," you may find that adapter useful for the hand driver. For me, I typically have to use a tool to pry all but the biggest sockets out of travel cases; and this one is no exception to that other than the "snugness" of that secure fit is likely to last longer in this quality case. As you probably know, if the set falls or gets dropped, you will be glad for that fit and not waste time scrambling around to get the right sockets back into the right places. I am well pleased with this product and its value well exceeds that of cheaper socket kits. It is worth the price they set IMO. ... show more

  • Great tool box for every homeowner.
Great toolbox for every homeowner to keep. I am not an experienced handyman but I do repair things here and I didn't realize how much I needed this entire box. It has made my life so much easier. I had to buy each and every tool separately with separate sizes that won't only waste my time but money as well. Whenever I need to fix anything, I just carry the entire box with me and everything is right there. It's a very easy-to-carry, easy-to-store box. It keeps all the tools organized, and doesn't let anything fumble inside the box. Everything stays in place firmly. I am very happy to see that the Allen keys are actually solid metal and not one of those low quality ones that break easily with a little bit of pressure. Overall I am very satisfied with this product and I think every homeowner should keep this in their storage room or garage. ... show more

  • Great starter or travel kit
This kit would make a good start to a basic set of tools or to carry in a vehicle. It's not exhaustive, but has all the basics. The sockets and ratchets work well, and the bit driver has a good selection of bits. Throw in some good pliers and an adjustable wrench and you'd have almost everything you need. ... show more
