The seat seems solid except for bar sticking in your back. Not comfortable at all, as is, unless you're very short or wearing a life vest, or strap it on the back, maybe. A huge problem is that installing the back support is moronic. The bars were not wide enough to get thru both long screws with the black plastic/rubber support. At least on mine. The only way to do it is without them or you can't possibly get both thru the rungs. And even then, it takes at least 3-4 hands. Then you have to hand tighten the washer and hope it holds. Will need to check it's tightness after every use. Why they couldn't ship this with the back support already installed is beyond my comprehension. I guess it saved them 2 inches on the box. Edit: I figured out that I installed the seat back backwards. Switching it made a huge difference in comfort. So I upgraded my review to 4 stars. My other criticisms remain true. If you find it's jabbing you in the back, you need to switch it.

Have tried a few different seats for my SUP, and this one still doesn't work that great. It looks alright, and seems to be made OK, but it's not all that comfortable to sit in, and really, the biggest issue is that the seat sits multiple inches above the board. That might not sound like a big deal, but it REALLY changes the center of gravity, making the board top heavy, severely reducing the stability of the board. I understand that having it sit flat on the deck might not work either as your legs would be straight out, but I don't think this really helps at all anyways.

Love to kayak and my husband does even more than me. We both hate how there is no real back support. We find we feel back fatigue and in the in kayak seating, there can be some along spots of lower back. When saw this seat, we were looking forward to setting it up and using. We had just gotten some mounting rails, D-rings and this seat looked doable on our kayak and standup paddle board (SUP). We tested how comfortable the seat and back would feel if just sitting on the floor and it was great. What we realized in moving this seat around is that it does not fold flat against itself. We decided if we did have to go flat, it was easy enough to disassemble the back from the seat and have two parts. Or the seat can go flat laying back, but it is a larger piece. For those occasions, I am thinking about checking some of my carry-on soft bags or making one myself so I can sling a shoulder strap on and carry this seat, which I might do anyway so I can move it around quickly and easily. I haven't tipped over in this, so not sure how the fabric will be when wet and how long it will take to dry if wet. Also concerned how the aluminum framework will do in saltwater: if it is marine grade that will be durable and sturdy. I've read that aluminum can get pitted by saltwater, but this also has a painted layer which should impede that providing you don't scrape or scratch to aluminum level: repaint right away if you do. Washing off after any use around saltwater is essential and the fabric may get white tracks if not rinsed thoroughly. There is a 1-year manufacturer's warranty, so worth giving it a try, though I don't see if there are any exclusions.

Arriving in two main pieces, the seat assembles quickly with the included tools. With a variety of straps to adjust the angle and firmness of the seat and back, this is a very comfortable seat that can be setup to the user. The kit includes straps to attach the seat to a paddleboard deck or a flat space in a kayak, and it also includes feet to insert into kayak tracks - though there are no kayaks listed which may be compatible. My one complaint, and it's a big one, is that the seat does not fold flat for transport - it folds to about 45 degrees, so it becomes awkward if you're not actually sitting in it. Otherwise, it's a nice, comfortable seat for a kayak or paddleboard.
