This item is not returnable!!! Do not buy it if you use propane. I bought two of these for my home and I'm unable to return them, it is extremely difficult and time consuming to turn on, the pilot goes out every time after a minute and when the fireplace is finally on after much difficulty, it turns off all on its own after a couple of minutes. This was installed by a contractor and all adjustments were made to the manifolds/valves. I guess I don't have a choice but to just leave these in there as decoration since I can't return them after paying almost $400 for each one. Don't waste your money. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The logs work great as far as functionality. They come on and off with the thermostat as expected. They are nice looking logs also. Now the cons- the fire is tiny. You can hardly see the flames when it is burning. We have checked to make sure it is nothing on our end but it just has small flames. Also, the smell is terrible. We expected a smell with them being new, but now 3 months into burning them and there is still a strong smell when they are burning. The pilot is noisy- it pops and snaps the entire time. We have another set that we ordered at the same time that we have yet to install in our other fireplace. Heavily considering returning them. Also, a remote for the thermostat would be a nice addition. ... show more

    • I could not get the pilot to stay lit.

My plumber installed but could not get the pilot to stay lit, it looks like a good quality unit and just what I needed but after a couple of hours of trying , waiting then trying some more, the pilot would not stay lit. We are used to installing log sets and all other gas appliances and we couldn't get these to work. I will be returning them sadly. It would be good if there was an easy to find way to communicate with the company as we were willing to change the thermocouple if needed. We would have but it was a kind we were not familiar with and didn't have. Duluth Forge---make contact easy if these are things you could advise on. Initial use produced thick black smoke and horrible smell, like paint burning. I took all of the logs and put them in a gas grill at 600 degrees for half an hour to try and burn more off. Second use was almost as bad, producing a lot of smoke. Professional checked to make sure install was correct, and still produces overwhelming smoke smell. This unit did not work and the company that sold it did not respond after they sent instructions to attempt to install 3rd time and it still did not work. They simply did not reply nor did Amazon! Now i am stuck with an expensive non working item that they will not replace!!!
