  • Great Keyboard
Style: 2.4G
Edit: I've had this thing for about a year and my opinions have not changed. It's a solid mini-keyboard and definitely worth the price, holding up well. Charge lasts 4-6 weeks before having to plug it in. Touchpad has sort of lost its texture from all the use, but still works well enough. Keys are small enough that they're difficult to type on, but finger peckers / typing novices will find it just fine. Charge indicator has never worked, nor has the low battery indicator. It has always just lit up the wireless LED when charger is plugged in. So the only warning it's going to need a charge is when it simply stops working. Not a deal breaker, but hope they fix that in future versions. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've owned this keyboard for about 6 weeks now and it's an absolute gem for a home theater PC. It's proven durable so far, having four kids tends to put handheld devices through quite a torture test. The backlight LEDs are bright and having the three color options is awesome. I've used plenty of expensive brand name keyboards, and the touchpad on this is among the best. I don't like that there's not physical mouse buttons under the touchpad, but thankfully there is a physical left click button (on the left side of the keyboard) that saves the day. Perfectly usable is how I'd describe it. The keys are small and hard to type on, but nothing worse than what I've experienced on any other small form factor HTPC keyboard. They work just fine otherwise. I really love that the F1-F12 keys are the primary button, and you have to hold down the FN to access the secondary media functions. A lot of HTPC keyboards have this backward where you have to hold FN to use F1-F12 keys at the top, and media keys are the default-- I'm a PC user going back a couple decades, so not having native F1-F12 keys is almost impossible to get used to. This keyboard does it right in my opinion. I'm 6 weeks into it and I haven't had to charge it other than when I first got it. My kids and wife are the primary users and they know to switch the keyboard off (it has a power switch on top) when they're done with it. Switching the power on activates it immediately, I've never had to reconnect the transmitter or do any kind of re-pairing. If you leave it set for awhile with power on, the backlight turns off and seems to go to sleep on its own, but wakes right away with any keypress or mouse movement. It just works every time. The only flaw I've noticed is that when I plug it in to charge, the wireless LED turns on. I can see that there is a low battery indicator, and a battery charge indicator, but I haven't seen the charge LED light up, even with the charger connected. If you have the keyboard switched off or on and plug it into a charger, the wireless LED lights up. I've verified the keyboard is taking a charge by connecting a USB load meter to it in between the keyboard and charger. It draws about 300 milliamps anytime the charger is connected, which tells me it's charging just fine. That said, I've never depleted the battery, so I'm not really sure if the low battery indicator works. But the charging LED certainly doesn't, it turns the wireless LED on instead while charging. Why? I'll never know but since it seems to be charging fine, I won't complain. I'll know for sure when it finally runs dead whether the low battery indicator works, and will try to update this review. In conclusion this is an awesome keyboard and works perfectly for this application. My last keyboard was an expensive Logitech and the charger port broke off a few months in. This keyboard works better and using the touchpad is a much better experience. This has a USB tether for charging (that slips inside a plastic cover) which will likely last a long time if not abused. They also include a USB extension cable in the box so you don't have to put any strain on the short USB tether. The fact there's no charger port to break off is a good thing in my opinion. I really feel like buying a couple more of these just to store away in a closet because I'm sure it won't last forever and they will probably stop making these at some point-- this keyboard is that good that a spare or two would be nice to have and the price is right! ... show more

  • Great wireless keyboard, love the backlight. Trackpad very sensitive.
Style: 2.4G
The media could not be loaded. Honestly mostly decent value for the money, being larger than the handheld ones, but not too large (eh), backlit, and a trackpad (kinda crap), not to mention being 2.4GHz based, rather than Bluetooth. (Windows and Bluetooth rarely seem to get along in the long run) One thing that bothers me, is the space bar isn’t completely backlit, as you can see in the photos. Leaves a dark spot there. But that doesn’t present any real issue. Still great key travel for what it is. I might even see about wiring in a larger battery, even though the battery life is generally plenty sufficient. (Edit: I did this cut worked lol). Oh, and I wish the backlight had a white option. Red, green, and blue. If you had the backlight on when you turned the keyboard off, then the moment you turn it on you can even see it light up white for a very split second, before defaulting to the last selected color. (Slomo video included to show this). So the leds are capable of white, but no way to select it. Shame. But not a true issue at all, I just prefer green as it shows best in a dark area. Be easy on the charging cord though. May be tricky to replace if you break it. ***Edit: It's also worth noting that the trackpad, while handy, is….kinda crap. Easy accidental clicks, crappy scrolling (atrocious). Accidental activation of tap-to-click is a very common annoyance. And since Windows/the OS only knows this as a keyboard and a mouse, and doesn't identify this as a trackpad, you really can't disable tap-to-click like you could on a laptop trackpad. Tap-to-click is a nice feature, but this one is way too sensitive. Just keep that in mind, and track carefully. Still got my moneys' worth though, I guess. ... show more

  • Works great!
Style: 2.4G+Bluetooth(New Version)
It behaves exctly as I expected. Yes, the keys are a bit like chiklets, but one becomes acustomed to it. It's groovy that it has it's charging cable built in - all you do is plug it into the now ubiquitous USB charging port and away you go. There's a lot to recommend thios gadget - size, weioght and the wonderful backlight! ... show more

  • Not for light touch typists.
Style: 2.4G
This is a reasonably nice keyboard, but it isn't perfect. The backlit keys are definitely bright enough to see and the colors can change from red to green to blue to off. It has a 3 minute light off timer. There is only one brightness level. The keyboard itself is spongy and doesn't always seem to register every key press making for accuracy problems. Though, I believe I will be able to get used to this in time by pressing with the right amount of force each time. This keyboard also has a multi touch glide pad. I didn't really want a glide pad as I don't use them, it eats more battery and it's easy to move the cursor, but it came along with the keyboard. The primary problem with the glide pad is that you can't disable it. I was hoping there would be a way, but there isn't. You can turn it on if it's off by pressing F5, but you can't turn it off or disable it. The reason I wanted this keyboard is because my Bluetooth is going out and I wanted to replace my K811 keyboard with a similar illuminated 2.4 GHz keyboard with a dongle. Funny enough, Logitech doesn't make one. If I could have gotten a 2.4 GHz keyboard like the K811 BT keyboard, I'd have been all over that. This keyboard was the next best alternative, though it's no where near as well made as Logitech keyboards. I'm debating about going back to an unlit Logitech keyboard to get back the reliability of that kind of keyboard. This keyboard seems to randomly skip characters when typing forcing many corrections. I'm actually typing this review on this keyboard. I'm giving it 3 stars because it works well at the distance I need, but it doesn't have perfect keyboard action and requires a firm press to ensure every key is registered. If you're a light touch typist, this may not be the keyboard for you. The second problem is the glide pad is far too easy to touch, moving the cursor to a different location in the middle of typing. ... show more
