Before getting this mattress topper, it was basically impossible to sleep on the couch bed because the mattress was so thin and the spring would poke into your back. This topper is indeed 4" thick, comprised of 2" memory foam and a 2" cloud-like mattress pad together. I'm storing this rolled up in the closet with no problem.
