We have 5 indoor-only cats. One cat loves to explore. Pinball loves to ride in the car but hates getting in the hard-shell cat carrier - pretty sure because he associates it with vet trips, which invokes his inner demons! We have recently had a pool installed and fenced-in, and have started taking Pinball to explore inside the fence. As a middle-aged female with a rotator cuff injury, carrying a 13 pound cat in that cumbersome box is a challenge. So I ordered this backpack, thinking it would help with transporting Pinball to the pool, as well as make vet trips with multiple cats easier. Pinball was very curious as I was unpacking the box. It was thoughtfully packaged, with a thin plastic film covering the inside and outside of the clear plastic dome. At first, I thought the dome was scratched, however, it was just the protective film on the outside. I was made aware of the inside film when I noticed Pinball trying to eat it during his first ride, so be sure to peel that off when you unbox! After a quick adventure in the cardboard shipping box, Pinball crawled into the backpack, so off we went. He didn't freak out, but I wasn't sure he was enjoying the ride either. He seemed very uncomfortable and fidgety. However, when we went back in the house, he did not immediately jump out. I take that as a strong indication that he liked it. As you can see from the video, the backpack seems to sag from Pinball's weight, which makes him sink into a ball. I was thinking, there needs to be a solid support across the bottom. I had been so anxious to try it out, I had not noticed there was actually such a support inside the backpack. It is covered in a soft fabric, and attaches to the backpack via a velcro strip. I also think the straps were not adjusted properly as we rushed through the setup process. Once we were back inside, that's when the real adventure started! I extended the rear extension, which opened up a spacious "lounging" area. Initially, I had the clear dome side unzipped and folded down so the cats could come and go as they pleased, but didn't like the thought of the dome lying down on the floor to be scratched up. It also didn't lie flat, you know, being a dome and all (duh!!), but I couldn't figure out any other way. After referring to the photos on the product page, I figured out there is a zipper in the mesh area of the rear extension that is rather well hidden. When unzipped, it makes for easy entry into the backpack. Our other cats started nosing around, checking it out. It seems Pinball somehow knew it was ordered with him in mind. He was instantly VERY territorial and defensive when the other cats tried to get inside. All but my shyest cat has had their turn inside. Our biggest cat is in the 17-lb range, with a large, tall frame. He LOVES sitting inside. He was fine when I closed the extension and zipped him inside, but he kinda freaked out when I put the pack on my back and started walking. Too soon. I probably should have given him more time to get comfortable with it. I'll try again later. Even if I'm never able to use it for transporting the other cats, I feel my money was well-spent on a quality, well thought out product. It is permanently set up on the living room ottoman and has been constantly occupied by one of my cats, as if it has a revolving door - one comes out, another goes in. I 100% recommend this product, and highly suggest that you pay the extra few bucks for the dual extension version. Even if you think your cat won't go for the ride, it is worth purchasing just for use as a place for your cat to hang out. My cats literally fight over this thing! Note about the color: I purchased the one called "Green", which my husband and I both agree is actually blue. It does look blue in the photos on the product page, so it is true to color based on the photos, just incorrectly called "green". It is exactly the color I wanted, so the discrepancy was not an issue for me. If they made the dual extension in the purple color, I would order that one as well. I would NOT order one without the dual extension. It is the highlight of this product.

Our journey from Atlanta to San Diego to Portland became an unforgettable adventure, thanks to Menace's new cat backpack with a colossal window. As cat owners, we know how much our feline friend adores gazing out of windows, and this backpack took that joy to a whole new level. From the moment we introduced Menace to his cozy travel haven, he fell in love. The oversized window allowed him to take in the breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon, the surreal landscapes of White Sands, the mysterious depths of Carlsbad Caverns, and the ancient wonders of the Petrified Forest. Watching his curiosity and wonder as he explored the world from the safety of his backpack was a priceless experience. One of the standout features of this backpack is its adaptability. The ability to expand it during stops was a game-changer. Menace could stretch his legs, and we could ensure he had plenty of space to move around comfortably. We also appreciated the clever addition of an ice pack compartment, which was a lifesaver during scorching temperatures. Knowing our beloved cat was safe and cool even in 100-degree weather was a huge relief. Training Menace to enjoy the backpack was surprisingly easy, thanks to the cat treats we used as incentives. The backpack's design ensures he felt secure and cozy inside, making him eager to hop in whenever adventure called. In conclusion, this cat backpack has become an essential part of our travels, making Menace's comfort and happiness a top priority. If you have a window-loving feline companion and a thirst for adventure, I can't recommend this product enough. It transformed our cross-country journey into a cherished memory for both us and our beloved Menace. Five stars, paws down!

We have a tall, athletic, 14-pound monster tomcat and two 3-month-old kittens. We first got one of these carriers for our tom because of how stressed out he seemed in his old rectangular mesh carrier. Following our first purchase, trips to the vet got a lot less stressful for our big boy. The large, zippered openings make it easier to get him into the carrier, and the front extension gives him enough space to turn around and get comfortable. I think the ample headspace in the carrier and the fact he can see so much through the transparent hard shell has made him feel less enclosed. Overall, he cries less in this carrier and genuinely seems to enjoy looking through the shell at times. A couple months later, we adopted two kittens out of the blue. The carrier was also great for them, and not just for vet trips! They also love sleeping in it, playing in it, and jumping on it. When it was time to get them spayed, we bought a second carrier just like it to separate them and encourage rest while healing. With both front and back extensions open, they have so much room to get comfortable and rest, and they can still engage with the world around them through the transparent shell. Our first carrier has taken quite a beating from the kittens, but all of the mesh is still intact, and it would look like new apart from some claw marks on the base fabric and shell. These carriers have been super useful for us, and I'm so glad we tried them out.

2 weeks update: one of the shoulder stripes is breaking off from the backpack. Only 1/3 remains attached. I don't think it would last any longer. We didn't use it often. Five times, about 30 minutes each time. And more than half of the time we sat the backpack down in car. My son is so upset. He really liked this backpack. I wish to get a replacement. Oddly, Amazon didn't offer us the replacement option. And I don't know how to mend it. It's out of my skill set. My son really wanted to have a bubble cat backpack to take our lovely cat out for a walk. When we received the package, we took our cat out in it immediately. And we took our dog with us too. Our cat meowed twice after we walked for like 5 minutes. Then she started to enjoy the walk and view. It's 10 degrees Celsius outside and she looks pretty cozy in there. My son put his hand through the small side door to pet her. She's purring and happy. After 20-30 minutes, we sat her down under the sun and expanded both the front and the back. It's pretty roomy for an 8-9 lbs cat. She is still growing, hopefully she can still fit in it well when she stops growing. Good quality, well made, the clear bubble has a layer of plastic film, all the mesh parts look thick, strong and durable, not the easy to tear apart kind. When the shoulder straps and the chest strap are properly fastened, it doesn't feel heavy even with the cat in it. We normally carry it on the front, so we can interact with our cat a bit during our walk. It came with one pad, no blanket. The pad is a bit odd to use when the front is not expanded. When the front is expanded, then with the Velcro, the pad can be secured on the bottom and provide enough support for my cat to feel secure. Overall, nice bubble cat backpack. We like it. Our cat likes it. She goes in it sometimes at home and just sits there, and she likes us to play whack-a-mole with her through the 9 holes in the backpack. I think she feels pretty comfy and safe in there.

This carrier is amazing. So much so, I had to do a video to show it off (hopefully I attached it correctly). I bought this for my 2 ferrets and it fits perfectly. I like that they removed the front expansion zipper because just like the seller explains, it would bunch up the material which is not ideal for your pet. With that zipper gone, the front "expansion" part stays permanently expanded which is great for ventilation anyway. The material is high quality and the build is solid. The only thing that could make this better would be a detachable long shoulder strap of some kind. I love LOVE that the bubble comes off for easy cleaning AND you can buy replacements and tinted ones if you want ( which of course I did). The zippers are plastic, which I get...most things are these days (even my $300 jacket zipper is plastic) but the little pull things are metal which is nice. The fabric is sturdy, like the stuff outside of soft luggage. The shoulder straps are padded and breathable. Overall I love this thing and am so happy I spent a few days comparing all the ones out there and settled with this one. All the features are great and I am happy to support a company that chooses to make improvements for the pets like removing that bunchy front expansion zipper situation. I'm going to have to watch for other tinted colors of bubbles they mention they plan to release :)

I planned to use this for kittens to find them homes... to get them used to the bag and know it is safe, i have put it on the back of a chair near my futon where they can freely go in and out of it. The most amusing thing I find so far, is that i can cover the bag with a blanket and when i hear rustling, i suddenly lift the blanket and have the most amusing snapshot moments. I also enjoy eating random foods and blowing towards the holes in the bag while kittens are inside sleeping. It is so funny to watch how they react to smells of different foods. I also suspended a tiny mesh gift bag from the top with some catnip in it, so they get a little crazy when they go in, but also know without a doubt, it belongs to kitties. The backpack feels comfortable while wearing. I personally fit 5 kittens approx 9 wks old inside, and they had no problem snuggling and moving around. My 17lb cat fits...but it is hilarious to see him in it, bc he kinda looks like a bodybuilder driving a minicooper, except hes not muscular hes full of fluffy love hahaha!!! I just received it a few days ago, so I cannot speak to the durability just yet, but if it falls apart, I will update this! As of the date of this review, I would say, if you're on the fence, just buy it! I am quite pleased so far!!!

This backpack is comfortable to wear. My cat fits nicely, and she's a pretty long girl - I purchased the one with the front extension so my cat has a little more room when she's in the car or on my back and I'm walking around. This also opens in the back into a carrier of sorts, if you're in one place and want to put kitty down and give her some room to stretch out or walk a bit, but still keep the cat safe and contained. It's perfect for transporting your kitty in the car. I purchased the fan that goes with this. Be sure it's fully charged. Mine kept turning off, but we were in cooler weather so I wasn't too worried. In hot temps though, definitely make sure your fan is charged and stays on. I took my cat for some hikes in the mountains. She even came with us to pick a Christmas tree at a Christmas tree farm. Normally that would not be possible, but put your cat in this backpack and you can pretty much take him or her with you wherever you go. It's cute, convenient, comfortable, every cat owner should get one. People will love seeing your kitty. My cat doesn't love being contained by any means, but she was ok in this. I would start with very short trips to get your cat accustomed to it. Wear it around the house first, or in the backyard. See how your cat reacts. I love mine and I'm glad I purchased it!
