  • When vinyl was KING....
Back when vinyl was king (1960's & 1970's) DUAL turntables were considered "best in class" and were terrific values for the price (which was about 25% of the current posted price). I owned the 1009, the 1019, and (I believe) my last one was a 1229 (not sure on that). Anyhow, they were both designed and made in Germany (in fact, the 1009 was bought in Germany in 1968). I used them, principally, with Shure V-15 (types II and III) cartridges, and I'd still have the last one of those had it not been destroyed in a move across the country. If this turntable is of equal quality, then I guess the price tag (adjusted for inflation) is probably fair...but, alas, I donated all my vinyl to a university library (about 3,000 albums) prior to another move in 1999. ... show more
