I've used the metal clips before-- the ones that hang over the top of the installed piece and then point outwards, with a little gap that holds only a small amount of the bottom edge of the next piece to be installed. They work ok, but I didn't like that you have to flex up the installed sheet to be able to remove them. Once a piece is installed, I don't want a lot of outward movement against those nails along the top of the board. So, this type of tool has been out for a while now, but I didn't have another siding job to do until now, and I've been really wanting to try these out. Initially, I expected these would be powder-coated metal. But I see that the majority of the "more affordable" ones are plastic. Of course, this can be a concern, but I decided to test these out. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the product insert describes them as polycarbonate. If that's the case, opaque cast polycarbonate is incredibly durable. These do appear to be solid! Their overall construction appears to be well made and fit for purpose. The clamping surface is a rubber, that won't mar the siding, but will still hold firmly. The clamping pressure is adjustable, but I found the factory-setting to be appropriate for my Hardie siding. A great feature is the adjustment holes. There are three holes along the bottom of the side of the tool, one set of which a steel pin goes through to the other side and is fastened with an acorn nut. The holes are at different distances along the side to accommodate (at least) three different overhangs for the piece being installed. I was able to quickly adjust the tool to the height of my existing siding, so that the replaced siding went up with perfectly matching spacing. (I found on a prior house that the original installer must have used a handmade spacer, as several courses of siding were spaced just slightly differently from other courses.) Overall, very happy with the performance of this pair of siding clamps!

I've wanted the Gecko siding tools my local lumber yard sells for years, but I couldn't ever justify the $80 they wanted for them so I've been making my own out of scrap wood. Then I came across these. For $28. As far as I can tell, other than the color, they're identical and that's great. Most of the hardware seems to be stainless steel and everything is assembled well. Adjusting the tools for your desired reveal is easy and takes only seconds to do. The cam lever operates smoothly and combined with the knurled rubber strap grabs onto the siding firmly. If you've ever installed siding by yourself, you will understand how invaluable these things can be. They increase both your speed and precision. I'm really happy to have found these and looking forward to putting them to work.

I have used homemade wooden installation spacing gauges for many years; however, they do not have clamps to quickly set the gauges in place. When I saw these Drusolell manufactured polycarbonate siding installation tools I decided to upgrade. These installation tools are well made, durable and very functional. The clamping surface is stiff rubber with ribs that firmly grasp the siding, holding firmly without marring freshly painted siding. These tools have an adjustable pin that allows the lap profile/ exposure to be adjusted from 4 inches to 8 inches, in ¼-inch increments. These siding installation tools speeds up lap siding installation, especially when one works alone. These are well worth the price and will pay for themselves the first time they are used.

I have a siding project coming up and decided to pick these up. I've used something similar in the past, as well as made my own jigs and the commercially made ones are the way to go. I'll likely be doing this myself, and having these will cut way down on the frustration factor. They seem solidly made, and adjust quickly and easily. I did a quick test on some Hardie siding pieces that I had around and they worked flawlessly, quick to use and equal spacing. I don't know if anyone really looks forward to siding, but these will make it about as easy as it can be and let me do a good job.

This tool was designed very well. It’s simple to use, and allows for a single person to install siding. Trying to level and nail a 12-foot cement board siding alone is not an easy task. This tool makes installation so much easier. You will still need to plan your layout, and still check level occasionally, but installation is so much easier with this tool. The tool feels well made, and should last a long time.

Easy to use once adjusted to needed size. They would open the piece being installed would slide down beyond the resting notch. Had the tool slide completely out a few times. Managed to complete the job, but took longer than it should of fighting with these .
