Description

A MECH KEYS FAVORITE, NOW IN HIGH PROFILE The Drop ALT High-Profile is just like the original ALT, but now it comes with a tall CNC- aluminum case that covers the switches. Machined to have a 6-degree angle, the case is ergonomically crafted for a natural feel. Absent of function keys, the keyboard wastes no space—but it still has a full set of arrows and numerals. Thanks to the hot-swap switch sockets, it allows you to swap switches whenever you want with no soldering required. It’s also fully programmable via QMK, meaning you can assign macros or custom keybinds to every key. With dual USB-C connectors, the ALT High-Profile is outfitted with the latest connections. What’s more, it has customizable RGB backlighting and underlighting. Set it to a single color or light it up with a rainbow wave pattern. To enhance the backlighting, there are shine-through doubleshot PBT keycaps. THICKER, HEAVIER FRAME The ALT High-Profile is made from a large block of anodized aluminum, the keyboard is heavy enough to stay put when you're locked into an intense FPS match or hammering out an essay. RGB BACKLIGHTING Bring a colorful lightshow straight to your fingertips with customizable RGB backlighting and shine-through PBT keycaps. DOUBLESHOT SHINE-THROUGH PBT KEYCAPS Known for their durability, PBT keycaps are built for the long haul—and because the legends are shine-through, not printed, they never fade. SILVER & BLACK CASE COLORWAYS Set the stage for your keycaps. Choose from the sleek silver aluminum case or the stealthy black aluminum case to suit your style. You’ll also have your choice from millions of different colors for every single key. There’s also a built-in translucent LED diffuser to minimize hotspots found in many other keyboards. Worried about flickering? Don’t be. The LEDs operate at a frequency of 100 Hz, so there won't be any visible flicker. THICKER, HEAVIER FRAME & HOT-SWAPPABLE SWITCHES The ALT High-Profile is made from a large block of anodized aluminum, which is known for its toughness and ability to hold a quality surface finish. Nearly twice as heavy as the original ALT, the keyboard is heavy enough to stay put when you're locked into an intense FPS match or hammering out an essay. The Cherry MX Blue has a distinct “click” sound when depressed beyond the tactile point, making it the loudest switch in the Cherry MX family. The separated slider construction also provides the highest tactile feedback. A good blend of typing and gaming. Cherry MX Brown is widely considered to be the best “middle-ground” switch. Its tactile bump, silent travel, and medium actuation force makes it a versatile switch. Primarily typing. The Halo Clear being with a slight preload and a lighter, sharper tactile bump than the Halo True. Halo Clears discourage bottom out, but not as strongly as the Halo True. A good blend of typing and gaming. Medium weight, smooth tactile action, and a purposefully light preload are intended to reduce jarring fingertip impacts during rapid typing. Moderately heavy spring to discourage bottom out. Intended for gaming. Essentially a shortened version of existing MX-style switches allowing for faster actuation. A good blend of typing and gaming. Kaihua Box White switches are IP56 waterproof and dust resistant switches. • Amazing!!!
Color: Black Style: Halo True
The media could not be loaded. I have a ton of customer keyboards and this is one of the best. The build is awesome. The keycaps that come with it are great too. I am not a huge RGB fan but this has a a lot that you can do with the rgb to customize it. if you know how to code then the qmk firmware is fantastic. It will let you do what ever you want with the pcb. If you don't know how to then the software that Drop has will get you about 95% of what qmk can do. Now for the Negatives - The stabilizers are some of the worst ever. extremely noisy and scratchy sounding. If you don't have a lot of experience purchasing aftermarket keycaps It may be hard to find the right set to fit the layout. The Positives. - The build quality is fantastic. Very Solid and heavy. QMK is great. Drops software is pretty good for the board. Large community that own the keyboard. I have added Sa profile keycaps to mine along with some sound damping material and and Gateron ink yellow switches add lubed the stabilizers. ... show more

  • Great keyboard, really good once you mod it
Color: Black Style: Cherry MX Brown RGB
This keyboard is pretty great stock. Small but hefty, Cherry MX Browns sound decent stock but the stabilizers are buns. I'd recommend Cherry Plate mount stabs, band aid mod and some foam. If you really want to go all out, lube your switches. There are plenty of YouTube tutorials to do this. In terms of the software, yes it's kind of inconvenient. But I don't think changing LEDs is something you do every day (I change LEDs for holidays like Halloween). A lot of people seem to be having trouble so I'm gonna post a short tutorial to make it really easy. 1) Download the applet-mdflash.bin and mdloader_windows.exe from the GitHub(the little card that comes in the box will tell you where to get this). Put both of those downloaded files in a folder called Keyboard Config. 2) Open the folder, right click and create a new text file. Change the extension to .bat. Rename it to whatever you want. 3) Right click your new bat file, click edit and type in this: @echo off set /p ConfigFile=Enter config file path: mdloader_windows.exe --first --download %ConfigFile% --restart pause 4) Go to the Drop keyboard configurator, which will allow you to configure your keyboard. Then compile it and when it asks you where to save it, save it to the Keyboard Configurator folder that you made in step 1. 5) double click your .bat file. It will ask you for the config file you downloaded in step 4. Press Tab until you see that file name. Hit enter and then press the reset button under your keyboard. 6)Your config should be applied. You can save multiple config files, and by running that .bat file you can apply any config in your Keyboard Config folder easily (by pressing Tab to cycle through all the files in the folder), without having to change the file name every time you want to change your config. Hopefully this makes it a bit easier to apply different configs. ... show more

  • An excellent keyboard!
Color: Black Style: Halo True
This keyboard is solid and hefty. The LEDs are quite bright. The keycaps on the the high profile feel more refined from low profile version. The text is cleaner and the keycaps are smoother. Satisfying to use and look great with the Lighting. The board is easy to take a part and lube the stabilizers. I think the weakest link is the stabilizers. My case looked really nice too. No blemishes that I could spot when I inspected it. Very satisfying board. I now own 3 of these and all have been excellent. I love the hot swap as it helped me truly figure out what kind of switch I wanted to use. People like to say make a custom, but good luck finding the parts. These are available and excellent. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • By far the best entry model. Not exactly the End Game material.
Color: Black Style: Barebones
Drop's ALT HP is a fine keyboard. It has many features that the users would appreciate. RGB's great, hotswappable pcb's convenient, and it really has that nice but not too heavy weight. However, let's face it: if you're spending 250+ on a keyboard, then the chances are you're a keyboard enthusiast. You know your switches and probably own a few keycaps. That said, does this keyboard outperform conventional entry models, like KBD and so? By tiny margin. Can it be compared to the end game keyboards? Nope. So if you plan on using this keyboard as a model to try various switches and keycaps, go right ahead. You won't find many alternatives. But if you're going from $150+ keyboard to this thinking that it's the end, you'll be disappointed. Also, OEM stabs are horrendous. Expect to buy new stabs. ... show more

  • An absolute joy to type on
Color: Black Style: Cherry MX Brown RGB
This keyboard is a joy to type on. Compared to the plastic/membrane keyboards, typing on this keyboard feels more fluid and as one other reviewer put it - "typing doesn't feel like a chore." My WPM went from around 60 to an insane 80 WPM because I am more accurate with key presses. The build quality of this keyboard is not even in the same league as the plastic ones. It feels heavy with a solid metal bottom plate and doesn't feel cheap at all. If you've been on the fence about weather or not to buy a solid mechanical keyboard - DO IT! It is well worth the money and you will certainly feel the difference and thank yourself later. ... show more

  • Good gateway into enthusiasts boards
Color: Black Style: Barebones
The media could not be loaded. Here’s my completed build (vinyl wrapped matte white). Overall, id would say this is a quality board and a great gateway into the enthusiast side of mech keyboards. Would high recommend band-aid mod/clipping stabilizers since they’re horrible out the box. Also adding foam to reduce any case ping. One downside would have to be configuring the keyboard with macros + layers. Qmk software/ massdrop configurator really isn’t beginner friendly, but it is not super difficult to learn either. ... show more

  • Quality Keyboard
Color: Gray Style: Barebones
Good quality board. Nice and heavy. Hot swappable switches is a nice feature to have. Two usb c ports gives you the option to have cable on left or right side of board. Just wished it had adjustable feet and better stabs.
