I love that this item was far less expensive on Amazon than in stores (like $20 difference). Well made and doesn't really get too hot, but it's lightweight and perfect for smaller pattern pieces. I haven't let it run to test the auto shut off, but I did notice that the light will turn on if it's plugged in, though this does not mean that it is turned on.     • Great for Applique and Small Sewing Projects
I have one of the little metal irons and have rarely used it because I'm afraid of burning myself as I tend to get up close and personal with my applique and sewing projects. I saw this iron in a video by Simple Bird Studios where she had her fingers right up against the top of the iron, exactly where I kept wanting to put mine. I immediately found it for less on Amazon. I've only done a couple of projects with this little iron but I love it. The temperatures work for the kind of sewing and applique I do. The little built in metal stand doesn't work so well but I copied from Simple Bird by putting it in a flan ramekin (a roughly 3 to 4 inch across dish with straight sides approx 1 in high) so the iron head hangs out and the rest hangs across the top of the dish with the stand in the closed position and it works perfectly. A friend repurposed an old ashtray. There are four heat settings and I use #3 for my cottons and have no problem getting the seam to set. For applique I "paint" on some starch with a small brush and then iron the seam - works perfectly. Thank you for a really nifty little gadget that works perfectly for me. ... show more

Totally good product. Com isn’t. Not a lot of heat to bu n your fingers. Light weight and you can have it at your craft table. I use an ironing wool mat and it’s just right. No leaking lightweight

    • Works great for quilting seams
I used it on level 2. My material I was using was dry weave Wicking shirts. I'm making at shirt quilt. My big iron on the polyester setting burned the pieces, needed to use a protective cloth. This one I could use straight on the fabric. It didn't maybe press it quite as flat, but it worked and it was easy to get the seams. I think I could try it hotter... but.. I like not using a protective cloth. The iron surface itself is about 1"wide × 1.5" long or so. There's no weight to the iron, so you have to press it yourself which can get a little tiring but... for what I'm doing it's great. ... show more

I bought this item to use in pressing handmade Barbie clothes and possessing antique baby dresses. I had read a couple of reviews that it didn't heat well enough. The temperature setting goes from 1-4. I set it to 2 and pressed a cotton doll dress. It pressed out the wrinkles beautifully on the moderate setting. I bought this because I haven't used my real iron in years (maybe decades?), and when I went to use it to iron on a patch, I found that my husband had used it for one of his projects, leaving some sort of sticky black goop all over it. I'm not cleaning that. So instead, I bought this. It's perfect for tiny projects, it is small so it stores easily, it gets plenty hot, it's light, and it has its own built-in stand. It's very easy to maneuver and control. It'd be perfect for any sort of spot-ironing you have to do, like cuffs and seams and crafts. I was surprised at the quality of it. ... show more

    • Has Good Features but Fall Over
I bought this for when I make bias tapes and pressing/creasing other such small items. I really was disappointed that it keeps falling over. It's holder is not a holder at all because the cord weight just knocks it over and it holds nothing. Every time I need to put it down I have to pull the cord so it goes straight out behind it which means I have to use both hands, one to hold the iron and the other to straighten the cord straight out behind, not to the right or left, not even a little or over it goes. The cord is not long enough either so being able to iron directly in front of a plug is the only way to use it with any kind of ease but realistically, it isn't going to happen here. The plugs are either to the right or left of the open places to put an ironing surface. I even bought one of those little iron surfaces (cutting surface on the other side) and tried using it on my kitchen counter but ended up with the same results. I do like the small size, it is perfect for tapes and small areas. I also like that once I plug it in, it beeps and there is a light to show it has power. It has a digital display so it is easy to see what number it is on. The tilt feature is good although I rarely use it but still nice so if I need it, it is there.
