The 1460 is the original Dr. Martens Boot. I love my new DM 1460 boots! When I first tried them on they were kinda big but I tried them with thick socks and they're perfect. I've worn them several hours and they haven't hurt my feet at all. Great for me right out of the box. Glad I didn't order a size down cuz I'm not going to go through the agony others describe to break in any boot or shoe. These are plenty roomy and I ordered normal size. Had smaller size years ago and they always hurt my feet. Not these. Beautiful, timeless style and very fast shipping. Just order them!

******Update 6/19/14 - I have, quite literally, worn these every day since I bought them 5 months ago...and they look and feel as great as the day I opened them! Every 2 weeks or so I have treated them to a nice buff of Wonder Balsam and that has keep them water resistant and given a nice sheen to the Napa leather. I really can't tell you how much I love these boots. It would break my heart if they stopped making the Napa leather version, which is why I'm back here looking to buy an identical pair as back-ups lol. These boots are awesome :)******* (Original Review - 1/24/14) I was concerned reading the reviews that the new breed of China-made Doc's would be far inferior to the English made originals. However my stompy-boot-lusting won out and my Amazon order was placed. I opted for the nappa leather and hoped the softer leather would ease the pain of the notorious break-in period. Well, these babies arrived and I was so stoked that I put them on still standing in my doorway. Aaahhh....love! So squishy and smooth, yet tough, thick leather. All stitching is evenly sewn, nice and straight. I am a bit OCD when it comes to this sort of thing and after inspecting these all over I can find no issues whatsoever. I am a womens size 8.5 with a slightly wide foot, so I opted for the men's version of these (UK7/Mens8/Womens9) thinking the extra width in the mens vs. the womens version would be good and I'm very happy I did so....they fit nice. I had bought a pair of insoles here on Amazon with this purchase thinking this would help if they were too big and found I didn't even need them, the fit was good without them. Sure, if they offered half sizes I may have gone a half size down, but it's nothing a thick pair of socks doesn't remedy....so no biggie. So I've been wearing them a week now...everyday....put them on at 5:30 a.m. before I leave for work and don't take them off until around 7:00 p.m. No pain, no drama...just super comfy boots that are breaking in beautifully. I'm already thinking of what color I'll get my next pair in because I can't see myself wanting to wear any other shoes but these for awhile :)

My daughter wears a 7 1/2 women’s & this fit her perfectly. My husband & I wore Dr Marten’s 25 years ago & now our 14 year old is wearing them. Ours were made in England, these are not, but they’re still good quality. We got the nappa leather which is said to be softer and doesn’t need to be broken in. It definitely is a softer leather & they were comfy in a few days.

Ordered these after returning the UK7 women's version due to a tight top seam area. The men's version seems to fit a lot looser at both the top of the boot near the toes and at the ankle. As always, breaking them in takes time but overall they seem alright. So much lighter weight than my old school docs (both sole and leather and very different than they used to be), for sure. I'm not sure how long they'll hold up with moderate wear and tear but given the -under a Benjamin- price, I like them. Revised review: I should add that when I first started wearing these, the soles did a funky squeeking sounds - YouTube's recommendation of some dry lube solved the issue immediately.

Fits as all docs i have ever owned. I typically wear a 10.5us shoe, so in dr martens i wear an 11 (no half sizes). I was previously wearing some "greasy black" 8 holes that had the distinction of being made of soft leather. This is significant, because im too old to suffer the break in period of classic docs. These also share that soft leather, so no break in period! People worry about the shoes not being made in England, but my last pair were manufactured in vietnam & lasted 8 years wearing them everyday. They are still wearable, but the bottom of the soles are completely smooth, almost transparent. Of course i have some MIE steeltoes that are approaching 20years with minimal wear... but good value either way.
