This is one of the better budget reel with quality. Pros: Light weight for the sturdy reel body Med to light weight, good balance for a 10 or 11 for surf casting rod. It will not balance a 12 foot rod, it's boarder line working on an 11' Drag Sound it Amazing (similar to $200 reels). You will hear it on the beach. Handle Length is perfect Handle Arm is solid metal Handle Knob is the perfect shape for Surf casting reels Ease of use with getting the Handle Arm tightened and on a rod Retrieve is very smooth Functionality wise, it does what it is suppose to do Line keeper on Spool has the perfect gap for all mono or braid sizes Cons: Spool Plastic Collar on the Bottom (meant to keep sand out) Design concept with the plastic collar being guided up and down by the Bail housing arms makes no sense. I bought this reel for an anticipated upcoming fishing trip with my son - our fist time surf fishing. My second cast into the surf and the locking nut on the handle fell off and was lost in the surf. It's unfortunate because I think it is a really good reel. Amazon refused to allow a return for replacement because a month had passed since I purchased it. The company is located in China so I thought there was no ability to seek help there but to my amazement Dr. Fish reached out to me and sent me a new handle, locking nut, and two neoprene reel covers to boot. Purchased this reel a year ago and that is about as long as it lasted. It is a very good reel, but I would say it is not for saltwater. I take good care of my equipment including desalting, rinsing, and oiling between uses. This outing, the reel became difficult to reel in and then final froze in the middle of a Cobia fight. Had to pull the line by hand to get the fish to the boat. If I had neglected the reel, not cleaning and maintenance the reel, then it would be on me. But that is not the case.
