  • Good product and would buy again
Size: 2 Gallon
I got my project idea from searches and watching videos, so I have never used this product before or any epoxy product before. product came with easy to follow directions I emailed the company asking a question about my project and received a response by next day I like how with this product you also get measuring cups (must have), mixing spoons (must have) and smoothing tools (nice to have, but didn't use). All these are needed tools, so it was nice to get everything with one purchase opposed to having to buy all separate. I did steal a spatula from kitchen and an old water pitcher. nobody has noticed that they are missing yet. I used one measuring cup for resin and the second for hardener and same with mixing spoons. once I filled measuring cups I dumped into my old watcher pitcher and used spatula to mix. I was a little nervous to use this as I've only watched other people online (all different products), but I finally decided to go for it and mixed my first batch. the directions said to mix for 3 minutes, but I think I mixed a little longer to make sure everything was mixed. when the mixture ran clear I felt it was good to go. I don't know if I did everything correctly, but my project turned out good. I made a coffee table that is 32'' X 42''. I poured first mixture in the middle and watched it spread out. I realized I was going to need a lot more, so I made a double batch and again I made sure everything was mixed extremely well. Once I felt it was mixed I started second pour where I could see the first pour ended. it definitely self levels. I watched to match sure it ran into the corners which it did, so I went to opposite corner and continued the second pour. for third pour I used a single batch again and again mixed well. I started third pour in the spots not covered. My goal was for the epoxy to be level with the wooden coffee table edges and they seemed to be. After mixing each of the three batches the mixture ran clean, but seemed to have a lot of air bubbles. Once I completed all 3 pours most of the air bubbles were gone, but there were several I could see, so I used a heat gun to get rid of them. Just to make sure I went over entire area. my project was very level which may be why I did not need to use the smoothing tools, and as I previously mentioned, the product really self levels. Is my project perfect? No. I missed a couple air bubbles, but you only see them if you are looking for them. Most people won't even notice. Is my project perfectly level between epoxy and wooden edges. No, but the difference is minimal and again most people won't even notice. bottom line...its a good product that was fun to see it come together and if I was going to do another project like this or recommend a product to someone else i would recommend this product. ... show more

  • It's pretty good for the price
But it's not as crystal clear as I was hoping. It has a very slight cloudiness to it after it cures. It was in a pressure pot for nearly two days over the course of three pours in the photos with the seed pod. It was in a pressure pot for about 30 hours with the d20. And 24 hours with the Petri dish trial. Everything had a bit of a white smokiness to it. It also didn't have a good reaction to the Petri Dish method. It never cured properly in the very center of the bottom (which would become the top after coming out of the mold), and around the edge on the side where the alcohol inks were introduced (top while still in the mold). I'm sure it would be fine to be colored with alcohol inks, but the excessive amount used to try to make a Petri Dish made it fail just a tiny bit. It's been about a week since I made that, and it is still sticky in those spots. Plus, the inks did not "blorp" like they were supposed to. Though, I have had a problem getting that brand ink to work, I have not had a problem with the excessive amount of alcohol ink making other resins not set up properly. I do like that the jugs have a handle. That makes it easier to pour with control. The mouths on the bottles are very wide, but I'm used to that with the style silicone rubber I use. But they do dribble a bit when you stop pouring. And the price was great. It's the cheapest resin I could find. Literally half the price of what I was using. And 1/3 the price of what I'm going to be buying next. All in all, it will probably work fairly well as long as you don't need it to be crystal clear. It is a slow cure, but it's supposed to be good for deep pours. I was going to do a two inch pour, but the seed pod started to float, so I had to do three smaller pours instead of two. I'm sure it would have been fine if I had been thinking! XD ... show more
