I searched through loads of portable crate listings and this one seems like the best solution for us. It appears to offer another inch of height over some other models. I'm impressed with the quality and features; carrying strap, handles, Velcro pocket, mesh top, pad with zip off cover. I ended up picking this one as it's taller than many other options. My lab is 38 pounds. I wanted something that he could sit up on without crouching. I would not use this as a crating solution for long periods for him, as it's on the small side, but there's just enough room he should be fine to hang out when he waits his turn to run the rally course. And it's super easy to pop up and fold down, so great for bringing to class, which is what we got it for. There aren't any poles in it, you just press down and rotate to flatten it, and secure with the elastic loop. I wish they offered a larger size but this should work OK to have my dog in and out of for short periods. If you have a normal sized adult retriever, the 32" will be too small. The 32" would probably be about perfect for most spaniels, I think.

This kennel is awesome - it pops right up and is easy to collapse back down. It's exactly what I was looking for as I need to crate my dog at night but didn't want to look at a big kennel in my bedroom or living room all the time. It seems well made and pretty durable, but definitely not for a dog who isn't crate trained or who is destructive, because they could easily get out. I did have to return for the larger size so I haven't used it overnight yet.
