I enjoy both acoustic and electric guitars, and though I don't have a classical-style guitar, I've thought about picking one up. With a flatter, slightly wider fingerboard, it differs from a typical acoustic or electric, and it typically has a vastly different sound... not to mention it features nylon strings instead of all-steel. That is what initially drew me to this Donner travel guitar, in addition to it being quiet enough to play almost any time, as it is as quiet as my electrics. The quality of this guitar is amazing, with beautiful wood and dark metal trim. It weighs less than half that of most electric guitars, and the lack of a headstock makes it very compact. Though I wasn't sure if I'd like the metal side parts, they are pretty nice and comfortable to play. I reversed the smaller/lower part, so it sits nicely on my left leg as most classical players prefer. The nut and bridge both appear to be bone, and the piezo pickup is super-sensitive, which took a bit of getting used to. This instrument has been a joy to play, and I can't put it down. The rounded frets are amazing, but do need a little polishing. While the strings are not softer than my electrics, they are still easy to play with the added 6mm neck width. The action was very high from the factory, at 3.5mm, but by adjusting the truss rod, I was able to bring it down to 2.9mm by straightening the neck. I might lower it later, after I get a bit more used to it, though it is pretty much on target with classical-style guitars. I should also mention that the case is lovely, being very thick and well-made. It will definitely protect the travel guitar very well.

I own both the hush-c and the hush-x donner travel guitars. Both are great travel guitars and this one is more comfortable to play. That being said it feels like it has an identity crisis.... is it an electric? not really with those nylon strings... is it an acoustic.... not really with no cutout. Even with its identity crisis it is still very confortable and easy to pack up and take traveling. The built-in tuner is a really nice touch. I really appreciate the attention to detail with the removable sides that have specific places to put them in the bag. The tuner knobs are ridiculously difficult to get a grip on to turn, but even that has been accounted for by the cute little hex wrench magentically attached on the back. I've included pictures of both the hush-c and the hush-x both in and out of the bags so that you can see the size differences in the bag for travel in case that matters to anyone. Personally, if the could combine the hush-c and the hush-x you would have a perfect travel guitar. Right now it is an almost perfect travel guitar, which I guess works well for donner because people like me will just have to have both.

Donner, hit me up. I can provide critical reviews BEFORE a product gets mass-manufactured. Because: This is not designed for women or older / disabled people (e.g. arthritis, grip issues, poor vision.) Y'all need diverse product testing. Anyone with normal hearing will need to purchase different earbuds. Even if I got defective ones, QC should have caught because my hearing could have been permanently damaged at first use. The case and instrument are both very high quality but have frustrating issues due to prioritizing form over function. _________ Includes: guitar, 10 ft audio (1/4") cable, polishing cloth, earbuds + extra tips, 9V alkaline battery, 3x picks (S/M/L, frosted grip, plastic), 3x string beads, truss wrench, guitar strap, case strap, and a very nice case. __________ Re: earbuds - - my ears hurt at any volume I can hear signal - if a string snapped during first tuning there would have been real damage to my hearing - the instrument is not audible without the earbuds (that's the point) so providing usable ones is kinda important - at least nearly-deaf people will really enjoy playing again? Re: case - - main compartment seems to have a water-resistant zipper - side compartment unfortunately does not (not great for sheet music) but at least the zippers operate smoothly - single piece, thick aluminum carry handles - very compact - quite light, a kid could carry it easily - has two attachment points on the wide end so it can be worn as a backpack, but only includes one single strap - the strap clips are painful to use for anyone with dexterity issues - the guitar body (they call it the stand) does not fit in the main compartment, but does have a somewhat cumbersome system to secure both pieces in the side compartment--they will get scratched up by whatever else you need to store in there - decent padding in the main compartment--top and bottom padd remove with Velcro and they have attached the correct (loop) side to the case to avoid scratches - wide, non-elastic nylon strap secures the neck with Velcro - you have to slide the instrument into the neck loop--instead of just attaching a flap of neoprene to the bottom strap, they provide a surprisingly thin, easily-rippable piece of felt threaded under the closure (it's fussy af) - I HATE that you have to wrestle the guitar back into the case in a specific order and with some force; it just feels wrong manhandling any instrument this way Re: strap - - it's a seatbelt, but screams "we don't employ or even consult women!"--Fender says women are 50% of your market nowadays - I assume the company has never seen any of the seatbelt covers / cushions marketed to women. Seatbelts actively injure many of us, especially when they're sliding around near the neck, throat, or chest. - ends are relatively inflexible pleather with pre-punched holes that I struggled to get on / off the guitar; the problem isn't screw-on fasteners, it's just poor sizing - extra irritating because you need to remove the strap every time you store the guitar Re: the instrument - - truss rod is great! - neck is way too broad if you have small hands / issues spreading your fingers or holding your wrist at an acute angle - I HATE these tuners. I hate that I need to grip them carefully or else fumble around with a tiny key which requires precise insertion. I hate that an instrument marketed for a specific, practical purpose prioritized form over function. Usability took a back seat to some designer's aesthetic tastes. - They did try to make it better for people who struggle with gripping small round pegs--they included a hex key with handle which can be fit into each tuner. HOWEVER, they also thought it would be a cool design feature to have this key snap into the body magnetically. You have to pluck it out by carefully gripping with your fingertips. This is one of the most elaborate self-defeating design features I have ever seen. - it's a thing to disassemble / reassemble and package each part back into place--don't get it if you play frequently or on a timetable (e.g. a kid using this for half-hour lessons will miss half their play time) - surprisingly good sound quality from what I heard, but I had to put it down almost immediately because of the headphone issue - frets are nice and smooth, won't tear up your hand - 3 knobs - volume, bass, treble - Digital display on the side tells you what note you've just plucked... sort of. The electronics give an approximation of the nearest pitch when you pluck one string with a lot of force, but are otherwise easily confused and take a while to decide. Does have a low battery indicator and tells you whether you're sharp or flat. - I can't find an on / off button. I left mine in the case with the alkaline battery provided, nothing plugged in, and it was dead when I picked it up a week later. The manual says the tuner turns off after 3 mins with no signal, but I guess mine didn't. Kinda bonkers not to have a switch for a purely electric instrument. __________ It's a real pity because they did so many things right and included many thoughtful details. And then there's everything else, which evidently would have been caught by including one (1) woman, disabled, or older person in product testing. Aesthetics should not have been prioritized over usability on a purely functional instrument.

The Donner HUSH C nylon‑string travel guitar has been an awesome addition to my daughter’s collection. It’s super lightweight, easy for her to handle, and the quiet practice design is ideal when she wants to play without making a lot of noise. The headphone jack works great, the built‑in tuner is convenient, and the detachable stand is a nice touch for keeping it set up in her room. Even though it’s compact, it still feels solid and comfortable to play. The black finish looks sharp, and the whole kit — gig bag included — makes it easy for her to take anywhere.

You can see my husband putting the guitar together in the pictures its a self-tune. The small area will light up, telling you to move up or down until it's tuned correctly. It sounds like a guitar. That always surprises me with digital equipment. I had an acoustic guitar and am pleased with this one. Good quality.

Its a smaller size, great for traveling or on the road. Not too big. Will definitely keep the kids entertained. I like how you can easily plug it up as well. Like if your child does just dance. They can pair it with this, so that was neat.
