  • Amazing instrument for beginners and experienced players
Color: Black
I am not one to rave about a product, but this is a worthy keyboard for my praise. I admit I am not a pianist but I do play guitar. In fact, I first heard of the Donner brand while looking at budget electric guitars on Amazon. I was interested to see so many positive reviews about a brand that I had not heard about. The brand is based in China, where its guitars and keyboards are made. If you research well-known American name brands you'll see that most of their budget instruments are made in China. I am not surprised if Chinese manufacturers are making instruments to sell directly to the consumer following the standards of the foreign (American) brands. I could write pages about this Donner keyboard but to spare the reader I wil condense my comments into bullet points. PLUSES: 1. This keyboard came packaged with exceptional care. The large contained two smaller boxes: one the keyboard, the other the optional stand. Not only were the keys protected by a plastic sheet, the keyboard was in a plastic bag with a cushioned wrap around the instrument. It was all in pristine condition on unwrapping. 2. The sound is extraordinary. I could not wait to try it out so I didn't even plug it in or charge it (it can be powered either way). It turned on immediately and the sound blew me away. Other keyboards of the same size, 61 keys, just don't have a true piano tone. This one does. Another keyboard I have has weak speakers and to hear it I have to attach an external speaker. Not the Donner. Its sound is loud enough to fill a large room. 3. The keys on the Donner are truly full size, nearly as long as those on a standard piano. The touch and sustain are excellent. 4. The demos that are built-in and are high quality and really showcase the instrument. 5. Everything needed is included. Along with the separate stand (which needs simple assembly), there is an excellent user manual complete with chord charts and playing tips. The manual is also in several languages. There is an AC adapter that both powers the keyboard and recharges the built-in lithium battery. A holder for sheet music is also included. 6. The instrument is portable, though it is heavy. The heaviness, though, speaks to the quality of manufacture. I could find no shortcuts in the way it has been produced. 7. The range of simulated instruments including percussion, organs, horns and string is among the best I've seen. Some are more realistic sounding than others, but the ability to loop different sounds is a real asset. 8. The keyboard is a superb learning tool, as the keys light up and can be followed when learning a song. They even flash on the correct keys while playing the demo tunes! MINUSES: 1. It is heavy and although it is portable and can be used with its internal battery, it is not something you can just decide to grab at the last minute. I would recommend buying a well-padded carry case, something not included. I know a suitable one from Donner is available on Amazon. 2. The power cord for the AC adapter is short and you would likely need to plug it into a power strip with a long cord. Because I already have a keyboard that I am happy with as a learning tool, this Donner keyboard will go to a family member who plays keyboard in a local band. I've told him about this instrument and he seems thrilled to have it for its portability and wide range of features like simulated instruments and MIDI connectibility. If I had the room in my house and could play keyboards well, I would certainly keep it for myself! ... show more

  • great keyboard for beginners
Color: White
the app provided is lacking a lot and I do mean a lot. the interface is somewhat cumbersome leaving the impression that the top part is a Touch Bar but in fact is only a guide to a key combo between the option key and the corresponding note. I do hope they improve the app and don't hide it behind a monthly subscription and at least add the option to change the tones via the app since it connects via bluetooth. ... show more

  • Fantastic piano
Color: Black
This is a great beginner's piano, or just for someone who likes to play but doesn't have a lot of room in their home or apartment. That would be me, haha! I love the light up keys that make it more fun for my grandkids to try to play. That makes it really neat. They have a very musical mother and this allows them to do more playing than they could on their own. The piano stand is easy to put together. The manual is great for learning all the ins and outs of the musical device. I love all that it can do! It's super fun. The best thing about electric pianos is that you can plug a lot of things into it, especially headphones, haha! It could be sturdier, but just make sure you have it nicely up against a wall and not just free standing in the middle of a room and you'll be fine. ... show more

  • Most definitely a beginners keyboard.
Color: Black
I have a few keyboards and Pianos I like to play. They are great. This little keyboard is also great and does make me happy in ways and really disappointed in others. This keyboard has a really clean look to it. 1 button and 1 rotory knob total. The keys are the options. If the button is pushed then the options are lit up right in front of the keys and while holding the button can select what key to push. When the button is released and in about 10 sec the options fade away and the trim looks solid black. To me the look is very professional where most keyboards do not have that option and the buttons everywhere just makes the keyboard look and feel very complicated. The stand was easy to assemble following the instructions and does hold the keyboard quite well. It is easy on easy off. Back to the keyboard. Playing the notes I found the keys to light up. It is funny to play in the dark. There are songs already in the keyboard that can be played as a demo or if you were going to try to learn to play. I really don't know how people learn to play the piano just by following the lights. Makes no sense to me. It is not really the way to learn because it is like singing karaoke just by pushing a key and really does not matter what key because any one key equals any one note. So 1 key can be pushed for all the notes then you never know the wrong note was pushed. Mess up and can't go back to correct. Different typs of learning however the song is not really being played. Limited songs on the keyboard and none updated songs so just about any keyboard with the same songs. When finished with the learning of the song it will go to the next song so no option to pick the song wanted. Need to get to a certain song then have to play to the song and then no backup to last song. One thing I did notice that most keyboards do that this one does not. Normally there is a port such as usb port for thumb drive or SD card slot or something that can load files of midi to play on the keyboard and this does not have this option. It does have midi in and midi out but can't really learn a song through those ports yet a pc can send information to the keyboard to play a song automatically and not tough the keyboard. The pc can record midi signals from the keyboard. This keyboard has an option to record noted when playing it. Unfortunately the limit is 386 notes total I think and that is a really short song. So. This is definitely a beginners keyboard. The sound is ok. What to expect for a low budget keyboard. The speakers are on the back. There is an app that suposto work with the keyboard and I have explored this app. It is kind of ok. It talks to the keyboard Bluetooth and can't do anything with the app till it is registered and yet I have problems trying to register it and says try again later. Many times. In order to play a different song on the app the song must be paid for and the free ones, well they are like all others song from the stone age. The price is about normal for this keyboard that is not full size and would expect this amount for this one. If you already know how to play then go elsewhere and if you are willing to try to play and try to learn, this might do you for now. ... show more
