  • Fantastic value
I have been playing piano on and off since i was 5, and I was looking for a keyboard that wasn't gonna break the bank. This keyboard hit all my marks. Fully weighted keys are a MUST for me, and for this price point, they did an AMAZING job with that. Feels just like other fully weighted keys i have played. No sticky or stiff keys. Has all the basic functions you could ask for in a keyboard. Very comfortable and easy to play, with a very natural feel. I also need a large range of voices available when playing keys, and this definitely delivers that with over 200 built in sounds. I love that the sustain pedal is the real paino pedal style instead of most other keyboards at this price point that comes with one of those cheap plastic pedals. Also has support for a 3 pedal setup, which is pretty awesome. At this price point, i was prepared to make sacrifices when it came to functionality, but the sacrifices i had to make with this ended up being very minimal. If there was anything i would change about it, it would be that the inputs and outputs are 3.5mm instead of 1/4". Not a huge deal though. I can use adapter cables. Also, the built in speakers are fine. They do their job. Sounds is clear, and the volume can go pretty loud. The speakers just dont sound HIGH quality, just a bit more average quality. Expected at this price point though, and doesnt really affect me, as i will usually have it plugged in via midi or audio out. I was anxious about ordering because of the lower review rating, but im glad i decided to order. Amazing value. ... show more

  • No help with piano repair
Donner customer service has emailed promptly with me multiple times I own a 4 year old. DEP-20 but it no longer will turn on. No damage, just won't turn on. Good product, but Donner can't help with repair. Their policy does't permit sharing a diagram needed by the local repair shop to investigate. They have no contacts to offer to repair the keyboard. Nice while it lasted. But no use now. ... show more

  • Excellent keyboard action rivaling competitors costing thousands more, but…
One of the MOST make-or break features of a keyboard is the action. I have owned and played on literally dozens of different keyboards and I can say that the action on this keyboard is the BEST of them all. The description confuses fully-weighted, weighted, and hammer-action. I assume this keyboard is fully-weighted, not hammer-action but it sure feels like it is. The keyboard is solidly built, relatively heavy, and is a pleasure to play (with the “Touch” button enabled) Combined with an optional double-x stand, the keyboard is rock-solid and stable. The default grand piano sound is excellent, however a few notes have slightly less sustain due to the sample crossover points, but it is NOT a deal breaker. For anyone wanting to keep up their piano chops, this is as close as you can get to playing an upright. The built in sound is adequate for practice, but you can add an external sound system if you want added punch. If the manufacturer stopped at this point, and marketed it solely as a piano, at the new reduced price, it would have rated five stars. However, all of the other extra features fall abysmally short. The standard General Midi sound set is sub-par, with only a handful of usable sounds. The LCD screen is infinitesimally small and practically unreadable. There is no way to access other sounds directly since there are no numeric entry buttons (so forget about using this keyboard for performance). The demo songs and drum patterns are sub-par. There is supposed to be software included which might help with all of the above problems, but downloading it failed. I received no response from the Customer Support email address requesting assistance. Bottom line: If you want a digital piano with excellent piano action and excellent piano sound, then this is the keyboard for you. If the other features are important to you you might be better served looking elsewhere. ... show more

  • Good value for the money
The keys are fully weighted and touch sensitive. This digital piano is much easier to play than my previous keyboard. A (Sonart) with semi-weighted and touch sensitive keys. It does take a little bit of time to get used to the fully weighted keys. The default tone on this piano is set to 430 A. I noticed right away that the tones sounded slightly flat. After some research I discovered that Beethoven tuned his piano to 420-430. And tuning to 432 is easier to listen to and causes less stress than 440. The tones on this piano can be adjusted in 15 Hz increments but you can not adjust it to 440. So far I really like this piano. The speakers on this piano are so nice 15 watts that I no longer have to play the piano thru external speakers. I would like to know which edition of the French Dream Source is in this piano. It is a mystery. Anyway, I have new keys to play on and it didn't break the bank. And the suspend pedal actually works. 3 weeks later. I am really enjoying this piano. The touch sensitive keys are great for someone like me who has a touch of arthritis and carpel tunnel in both wrists. A lighter action but still has the touch sensitivity so the music produced is very expressive. This is a great piano for a aspiring piano student. ... show more

  • beginners dream
My guess is the beginners are rating this higher and the decent players are rating it lower? I am a beginner too. I just like having one around, but I barely ever remember it's there. I plugged it in, turned it on and it plays so I'm am all set. When I press all the keys the work. I'm way out of my depth, but music is fun and so is this keyboard. I won't lie, price-wise it feels a little steep for a beginner, but then again, this is my second keyboard. The first was a different brand. It was about half what this one cost and two keys stopped working in the first four months so I guess i got what I paid for there. Maybe spending a bit more will mean a longer lasting machine here. My rating system breakdown: 1 Star = Safety hazard, gross misrepresentation of product, or flat out doesn't work 2 Stars = Needs improvement 3 Stars = Meh, likely wouldn't buy again. 4 Stars = Meets expectations 5 Stars = Exceeds expectations ... show more
