I spent months researching which big girl bed I wanted to get my five-year-old. I kept coming back to this one, but some concerns I had made me hesitate. First, I was a bit worried about the ladder. My daughter is not an adept climber. But now that’s it’s here and built, I realize that I was concerned for nothing. She gets up and down just fine. It’s a low loft. The height is perfect. Standing up, I can lean in and kiss my daughter goodnight with no problem and I’m only 5’4.” I also don’t need to worry about her safety if she has to get down in the dark to pee in the middle of the night. My second concern was that the description here on Amazon has the bed listed as “cappuccino/zebra” while the photo shows a white bed. I wanted the white, and the reviews weren’t giving me a solid answer on whether or not I would receive the bed in the description or the one in the photo. I rolled the dice, ordered the “cappuccino/zebra,” and thankfully, a white bed arrived! Hooray! My daughter LOVES this bed, so much that the past few nights, she’s asked to go to sleep at 6PM and actually did, never once coming out of her room. Overall, It took my husband and son about 5 hours to put together. No problems arose. All parts were there. No nicks or damage. Paint job is beautiful. So far, the bed is sturdy and exactly as described. I moved the dresser across the room to make a little fort underneath. We put up Christmas lights and my daughter is in heaven. It’s her new favorite place to hang out. If I had this bed when I was little kid, my parents would’ve had to drag me out from under it. It really is cool and surprisingly spacious. I was able to sit up comfortably underneath. The dresser is small but the drawers are roomy and held the same amount of clothing that her previous did, and it was twice the size on the outside. The desk itself is sturdy but does move too much on its wheels since it’s meant to slide in and out. My husband is going to just anchor it in place, an easy fix. I’m so glad I decided on this bed. I’ma Jet engine mechanic and it still took me 3 days to put this together. I was by myself and the instructions are limited, but it was the total lack of labeling on the ACTUAL PIECES that made this more challenging than it should have been. It’s also A LOT of work and with arounds like using props and doing different things with both hands (and a foot, and a nose, at times LOL) for one person. But just like eating an elephant (what a weird phrase) take it one bite at a time, and it CAN be done. It’s just more frustrating than it needs to be. Manufacturer: please label the boards and build purses and solve a lot of the headaches of trying to puzzle this out. The screws to the chest of drawer knobs totally stripped out the wood and it’s only been put together for 3 weeks, but that’s an easy enough fix, and the desk barely comes out from the bed and chest enough to fit a very small cheap desk chair in the knee space,, much less the kid’s legs, but it works for now. A few pieces missing but I have lots of hardware “in stock” in my garage so we made due just fine. All that said, we really like the size, all in one functionality and how it makes the most of a small room to keep more are clear for play and recording his videos, so we are enjoying it. A lot of it seems like the usual build it yourself Crap materials with lower longevity (I doubt this will make it into 2030, or part two kids’ worth before falling apart) but it is really great right now and I would have spent at least as much getting him ask the things separately that it offers all in one: bed frame with storage, small chest of drawers, working desk and small bookshelf (one on the desk and on the end of the bed makes one small stand-alone one IMO), Abs this takes up so much less room , so I consider this worth the money, just don’t expect it to last forever like fine furniture made of real solid wood. Sure, everyone wants the best furniture in their house constructed of solid wood. Yet, throwing $2-3k for a bedroom set for our toddler was just not possible or really even smart. Plus, with our upcoming need to make room to add a crib in the same room we knew we needed to save as much space as possible. After reading over all the reviews on the Donco kids low loft bed we knew this was the right product for us, even if there was some concern on the holes not lining up properly. The bed arrived in multiple heavy boxes (you'll definitely want some help to get them inside and into the bedroom you're building this in). The instructions provided were clear and easy to understand and the hardware was always connected to each box via highly visible red rape. Oh, if you still have that second person handy I recommend you keep the around to help you build the bed frame portion of the build as it can be tricky to get everything to balance. The dresser and bookself portion of the build are easy enough to put together yourself. All in all, it took two of us about four hours to assemble it all. Every predrilled hole lined up perfectly and we had no missing hardware of any kind. Now, the real plus of this product. We were able to get rid of a dresser, a bookcase, a toy bin, and a daybed and replace it with just this one piece of furniture. I can't believe just how much of a space saver this low lofted bed is. Oh, and our daughter loves it. Note, we have not yet installed the desk portion yet so that's the only thing I cannot yet review. Yet, with how smoothly the rest of the build went and the quality behind it I have no concerns! In the end, this bed set exceeded my expectations and I've recommended it to our friends. ... show more
