    • This robot is actually intelligent and well designed!
Our very old (10+ years) Blue Diamond robot bit the dust, and I definitely wanted a new upgrade. We live in a desert, so a filtering system for dust is a must. The ultra fine filters really take care of the dust, and are easy to clean since the filter is top loaded in basket form. The ultra fine filters are also very good quality. They have like an embedded mesh reinforment that helps the pleats stay stiff, and they do allow water to flow really well! Don't get the robot with just the ordinary screen filters if dust is a problem. It's behavior was rather satisfying to see. It cleans very thouroughly by always getting towards the center of the pool and "hopping" multiple times to change direction. It does move in reverse a lot, in case you're wondering. Even across the whole pool on occasion. It only climbs up to the water line when moving forward. Our pool is kidney shaped, and thoughout the whole pool it consitently went to the center to hop and change course, and cleaned almost all of it before the 2 hour cycle was finished. I hope this machine gives many years of service. If it does fail soon, I will update accordingly. I looked at the machine for a bit after getting it and found the belts to be really easy to replace! You just take out the top filter basket, and there are 2 gray tab shaped clips on each side of the bottom. They can easily be undone and this takes off the plastic oval panels that the belt spins around, exposing the pulleys. You'll see only 1 screw on each of the 2 smallest pulleys. That's it. Take the 2 screws off and both belts are off. So much more simple than our old machine! The power supply cord is of reasonable length and good quality, and the machine also leaves a larger path cleaned than the old machine. The machine is new, and I really don't got anything bad to say other than it not coming with a caddy. However, the machine did fit pretty well on the old Blue Diamond caddy.     • Unreliable. In less than a year the power pack stopped working.
Absolutely frustrating. Suction is decent but not great. It wanders around the pool with no apparent method to its "pattern" and just BARELY manages to clean a 20 x 40 foot pool with an incline from 4 foot to 8 foot depth in three hours. It doesn't even attempt to clean the steps. This vacuum repeatedly turns off, so I have to go out and restart it every 20 minutes or so which is VERY frustrating. It is certainly NOT worth the many hundreds I paid for it. Update as of 18 Jul 2022: Wrote to Manufacturer and they provided link to video to re-seat the motor. This helped it run for the full three hours. Twice. Today it is getting hung up, repeatedly, on the pool drains. I have watched it hover over the drains and shut off. Then I freed it and watched it go RIGHT BACK to the pool drain and hang up on it again. I freed it again and was astounded to see it move directly to the OTHER pool drain and hang up on IT. So I freed it from that pool drain and watched it for ten more minutes to see that it didn't again hang up on the drains before shutting it off. NOT HAPPY. Updated on 3 Sep 2022: Now runs longer - perhaps an hour at a time before just stopping. Yes - I straighten the power cord after each use and before each use and it is NOT twisted during use. This thing cleans well but it just stops randomly during operation, sometimes over a drain and I have to check on it several times during operation and turn it off and back on to get it to resume operation. There is nothing blocking the impeller. The basket is cleaned after each use. I have the ultra fine filter in it. My pool has very few (let's say SIX) leaves in it and NO pine needles, NO acorns. It cleans well but it just needs babysitting to finish the job. Updated review: The problem was resolved by resettling the motor with help from the company. After that the vacuum worked pretty well for the rest of the season. We got it out again in May 2023 and used it twice. When the power pack was plugged in the THIRD time it did not work. Tried in multiple outlets and had NO power. Contacted Dolphin and was told they would get back to me. That was days ago. So I have an expensive pool vacuum that I have had for LESS THAN A YEAR and that I can no longer use. When I came back to update this review I found that this model has been DISCONTINUED. ... show more

At first I couldn’t get the robot to work for more than a few minutes. Requested a return. But after contacting the tech department thru the app. I received an immediate response with several easy steps to try. With a screwdriver and about 15 minutes it was working great. Now it cleans for hours and does a very good job. We are very happy with our Dolphin. ... show more

    • It works pretty well, but buy the ultra fine filters. Replaced our 12 year old dolphin
I bought this to replace our 12 year old Dolphin that used a cloth bag for filtration. This vacuum picks up debris and leaves like a champ with the regular filter. That said, the regular filter won't cut it for algae removal/cloudy water at the beginning of the season. When switched to the ultra fine filters, it cleaned, (you could see the green in the filter) but not as effectively as the old machine. I expected more for the price. I was able to put our old bag inside the new filter for a few passes. The filter and bag were filthy-it worked. There is a conversion kit available. May be worth buying. Definitely easier to lift and clean then old one. ... show more

    • LOVE this Robot!
We have an older Aquabot with the filter bag in the bottom, and while it clean great, the hassle of taking the bottom off, removing and washing out the bag is a PITA when there is heavy debris or algae present. We took a chance on this robot and I am so glad we did! The top-loading filter is absolutely awesome and so easy to rinse off after each use. I no longer dread dropping the robot in the pool and isn't that the whole point of investing in these things? I don't like the fixed 2 hour run time as we have a fairly large pool and it takes 2 runs to cover the entire floor, but it is what it is. This climbs walls and despite some reports, will climb our stairs and tanning ledge as well. We purchased the extra-fine filters as we have a lot of dust and grass residue land in the pool after yardwork and we've found that it just doesn't catch as much of the fine stuff as the bag, but we can live with it. Our water is crystal clear and this robot has made maintaining the clarity and balance far easier! ... show more
