We have a corner lot and I was hoping that this manual tool would help with our yard. It took forever to do a small area. I would not recommend this for a large yard. It gets stuck in the grass if your soil is too wet or too dry.

The Dolibest Lawn Coring Aerator is a well-designed, sturdy tool that makes lawn aeration easy. It features three coring cylinders, which I find more manageable than my boyfriend's four-cylinder device, while a two-cylinder option might sacrifice efficiency. That said, a two-cylinder device might be easier to use with extremely compact clay soil. The corer is made from heavy-gauge stainless steel, offering rust resistance and efficient soil plug removal. The stainless steel basket neatly catches and disposes of plugs away from the holes. The rest of the tool is constructed from steel with a durable powder-coated finish that outlasts conventional paint. The aerator performs best in moist but firm soil, as overly muddy conditions are too liquid for proper core removal. The package includes a 12-inch weeding hand tool, marketed for cleaning the aerator. It’s important to use this tool--or a screwdriver--to clear the three coring cylinders before storage. Otherwise, the dirt inside the cores will harden. I personally used a Philips screwdriver for this task, Additionally, I modified the weeding tool by adding a slight bend to the 12-inch shank for leverage, making it a decent dandelion weeding tool. Assembly was straightforward but requires a larger #3 Phillips screwdriver, which might not be common in standard home toolkits. I initially expected Allen screws with a provided hex wrench, but this was only a minor inconvenience. Overall, the Dolibest aerator is solidly built, featuring grippy, blister-resistant soft rubber handles, and dependable performance, making it a valuable addition to my garden shed.

I'm giving this four stars because the build quality seems good; just think about whether your needs justify the price. It may be perfect for you. I was thrilled at first, with all the little cores popping out like miniature sausages, until I found I had to clear all three passageways with the nice little tool the seller included -- and if I didn't clean them every five or ten pokes, it got harder and harder to clean. Even the earliest cleaning takes some time. It's not exactly as bad as having to change the string in your weed-trimmer, but you get the idea: it pauses your work. I decided after many rounds of this to just let it be, and I aerated about 400 sq feet of yard in about an hour. I hope my efforts were good for the grass, and that my holes don't collapse too quickly since I wasn't removing any dirt anymore. After I was done for the day, the clog was like cement, and I couldn't budge it until I soaked it overnight in a bucket of water. I'm sure it does much better when your sod is good and sandy, like on a putting green, but since the whole purpose is to support the process of improving your soil, I'm probably not the only one who wondered if this would help with a compact clay-based yard. I hope so, even if the plugs don't come out, because it's pretty hard work after awhile. This thing feels sturdy enough, but at six feet tall I had to hunch considerably, and my back was really feeling it by the end. It's not tiny, but I think they should make it taller because the work is really meant for bigger people since your weight is contributing so much.

This arrived well packaged and came in just a few pieces. It was incredibly easy to put together. It is lightweight and comfortable to handle yet feels extremely sturdy and heavy duty. The quality is excellent. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this and discovered the high quality components. It has a bucket to collect plugs that you pull from the ground and three hollow rods to pull the plugs. The rods are spaced an ideal 3.6” apart. If you have a really large lawn it might take a while but this is perfect for my small lawns. I can’t wait to use it when I overseed the front and back lawns this spring. The front lawn especially needs it as the soil has become heavily compacted.

This is a good sturdy aerator, and I especially like that it has three plug holes versus the standard two found on most others I've seen. The assembly couldn't be more simple, with just two large screws holding the pan and cores all together. Seems like it would be easy to remove the pan and just use the core part of it if you want to leave them on the ground. I like that the handle assembly is one piece, and I can really put my weight into it with no flexing or wobbling. I'm 6' and it was a great height for me. I specifically got this to aerate around areas that hold water during rainstorms, and it works GREAT! I would recommend using it when the ground is good and wet. I used it right after a rainstorm recently and it pulled cores with no problem... I barely needed to use the foot stirrup on the saturated ground. I plan to slowly aerate my entire yard over time, just doing 10-15min here and there after workouts and such. I used the included plug clean out tool when I was done to push out the remaining cores. Very handy tool that will earn a permanent spot on my wall.

This is a solidly built aerator tool. It has the punch to knock out the dirt so you can clear them before they harden as you work. It should last many seasons, and does a good job punching aeration holes. My review process: 5*- Blew me away, features that are much better than anticipated (rare). 4*- Product is as expected, and good quality. This is a STRONG review. 3* - Product should function, but has minor flaws. (Average product) 2*- Product may work, but won't last long/cheaply made/major flaws/issues, item failure w/ some remediation from seller. 1* - Poor item/failure during use, or before, no remediation from seller.
