The dimensions posted pertain to the INTERNAL space of the shelter. The full width/depth (including the base plates) is closer to 50 inches. This was great for our needs as it meant we could perfectly fit the VeeHoo XL dog bed (CWC2204, https://a.co/d/0drx5PTj) and it provides plenty of space for our 75lb Husky/Malamute-mix to enter, get on his raised bed, do the obligatory spins, and then relax in the shade. I wanted a shelter that could provide shade and accomodate a cooling-bed in the hot months, while also providing wind/snow protection once Winter returns. So far, I'm pleased with how easily this was to assemble, and how sturdy the frame seems (Two 19/32 plywood pieces cut to 30"x48" - connected with 3x strap hinges at the top, and 4x 1" pipe straps at the bottom edges - form the roof of the tiki hut. Probably could have gone with 11/32 but the 48" barely spans the distance front-to-back and I was worried the roof would bow/crack after adding the faux-thatch roofing). Biggest takeaway is that the footprint of this shelter is bigger than it seems when you're only measuring ~48"x48" on the floor. But it's the only shelter I could find with the removable front/back panels, and it fits the dog bed, so no complaints. I'll try to update if we encounter any issues in the coming year. ... show more

Instructions aren't great just pictures. Don't tell you not to start with bottom bar. When you figure that out the rest is easy til you get to canopy. It is a bear to get on especially if your in your eighths. Once it's set up it's fine. Four stars because the canopy is so hard to put on.

Bought this to have a little shelter from the sun for the dog. We were putting the patio umbrella up during the day and taking it down but that was getting annoying to have to do it all the time. The shelter was easy to assemble and looks nice as well. I kept the back part open a d the front a little down instead of fully closed so it'll provide shade inside during high noon. Gave this to my parents' for their beloved cat who needs shade during this hot summertime. The setup wasn't too bad. The fabric is nice and sturdy enough. The space is wide enough for my little kids to sit underneath there to play with the cat. Assembly took me 15 minutes. However i thought the fabric is a bit to tight. But its well overall. Frame really sturdy. Big shade for my dog! Hope that the fabric can reflect the sunlight so it wont heat up under the shade.

The instructions for this shade tent are… decent… -ish… sort of… They give a general idea of how to put the tent together, but not particularly helpful beyond that general idea. They’re all picture, and despite there being two lengths of poles they all look the same size in the booklet was my biggest irritant. What I was able to decipher what the pictographs in the ‘instructions’ were trying to tell me to do, the shade tent went together fairly smoothly. I had a few problems with the lower side bars, with the canopy blocking full insertion into the socket at first, then metal burrs in the socket not allowing the pole to insert very far, but eventually I was able to get it fully together. I do like the option to attach both, one, or neither of the end walls, depending on needs and desires. I wish that the main canopy had ties for the mid-pole location, since it just sort of flaps around. This is particularly noticeable when the end wall is installed and tied down, while the other side substantially gaps. I will probably be actually installing some myself. I got this for use on camping trips, as many campgrounds don’t have adequate shade and it would give our dog somewhere to rest out of the sun. I’m not honestly sure if this shade tent is going to actually work for that purpose, as it has to be completely disassembled when breaking down, then reassembled at the next stop. It also doesn’t have any sort of carry bag for storing it when not in use, so either keep the box, or plan on finding something to store it in if it’s not going to be a permanent feature somewhere.
