I'm seriously impressed with this thing. It's exactly like the pictures. Made of actual wood, nicely painted. All the holes are clearly pre-drilled or marked. The hardware is actual metal. The instruction book is in clear English, large print and pictures, and every detail is easy to see. The roof material is real too, and the plastic flaps are glass-clear. There's even little optional rubber caps for the feet to protect them from rot if you put it outside on dirt. It went to together in under ten minutes with a drill to screw things in. I was skeptical about buying this for a winter cat house, as the price was less than half the next cheapest similar house. Having just put it together, I'd say it's a real value. Everything was there, and the instructions are good. The materials and design seem perfectly adequate - mine placed under a wide overhang, so won't be exposed to direct rain/snow. I bought it because it was cheaper than the competitors and was larger. However, not a better value! The wood was poor quality w/ cracks and chips, the pieces did not line up correctly and the roof looked like tar coated in kitty litter. If you life someplace warm it would probably be okay but, in the north it is a definite no. I can't imagine why they would put holes in the floor and back of the house? Take my advice, pay the extra and buy a better quality house. ... show more

This ended up being the perfect design for our cats. Super easy to put together, both our cats easily fit in it with room to spare, sturdy, and I really like the lid that opens so I can easily clean their beds and the house.
