This is a nice unit for heating a dog house or chicken coop. I appreciate that the control panel locks with a key so the temperate gauge cannot be changed, and that there is a safety mechanism that will shut the unit off when the temperature exceeds a certain point. It would be great if there was a timer function so that I could run the heater for a set number of hours a day, but I suppose I can control that with a smart plug that turns the outlet on and off on a schedule. Time will tell how well this works in our harsh Alaskan winters, though for more moderate cold spells it should be just fine. ... show more

Got this for a shed coop currently occupied by outdoor cats. It’s summer now but we had a cool morning so thought we’d turn it on and while it takes some time to warm up, it really puts out a good heat once it gets going. Really like the cord, it’s length (it’s longer than expected) and looks like it is rugged and should survive both human use and animals being around it. The controls are wonderfully simple—just turn it on and dial the temperature you want. Really love the locking control panel—prevents rowdy animals from accidentally making changes or turning it off. This dog house heater is very low profile does not take up much of the space. It seems very well sealed so potentially quite safe for outdoor use. Heats up well can't wait to see how it works this winter
