Description

The iCrate folding metal dog crate by MidWest Homes for Pets includes all of the features you will need to provide a convenient, safe & secure pet home for your best friend, from puppy to adulthood. This crate includes a divider panel allowing you to adjust the size of the living area as your puppy grows. The plastic leak-proof pan allows easy clean-up in the event of an accident. A strong plastic carrying handle is included for convenient portability, and rubber feet on the bottom of the crate protect the floors inside your home. We recently enhanced the safety and security of the iCrate crate by adding locking tips on the slide-bolt latches to securely lock the door and patented Paw Block, which prohibits your dog from tampering with the door lock from the inside. MidWest iCrate crates also feature patented rounded side clips that reduce possible sharp points to ensure a safe experience for you and your pet. Every iCrate metal dog crate conveniently folds down flat for travel. The 18" iCrate (model 1518DD) measures 18L x 12W x 14H inches and is suitable for "toy" dog breeds. Please note the term "toy” breed is subjective. For the best fit, we advise that you check the measurements of the dog crate and select a size that will be suitable for your dog's ADULT weight and measurements. We have a 7 month old puppy who developed a fear of her crate. We don't know what caused it, but we weren't able to get passed it, so we bought a new one - THIS one. She's decided she LOVES it. We had no problems with sharp places, no problems with set up... nothing. We let her play in it for a day and that night she slept in it. At this point, I don't even have to tell her to go to bed, I just start turning out the lights and she runs into her kennel and waits to be tucked in - a 1000 degree change from the old one! I'm still trying to find a cover for it though, it seems to be a bit longer than exactly 22 inches and the standard covers aren't fitting. Regardless, if I have a puppy who is happy to go to bed at night, I can deal with a crate cover being a bit big. :) **************************************************************************************************************** Just a side note, my educational blurb... this crate, just like any other crate, is not meant to hold a dog who isn't crate trained. These are not cages, they're more like play-pens you put baby's in. They're just a way to confine your dog while you're not able to supervise them. Please don't put your fearful dog in and expect them to be OK... they WILL try to get out, and as other reviewers have said, they can be terribly hurt. Take the time to train your dog properly. And until you do that, hire a sitter, pay for doggy daycare, or stay home. I wanted to make sure to leave a review and hopefully help any fellow french bulldog parents. We just rescued our boy and were having trouble with house training after his stint in the shelter kennel. This crate is a great quality and value and it worked wonders to solve our problem. However, when ordering I was having trouble choosing a size and everything I read recommended a 30"/medium size crate for this breed. After much consideration I went with the medium and it was definitely too small! At 25 pounds he is considered medium, but this guy JUST BARELY fit. He was miserable and we felt very badly for him. I returned it in exchange for the large size and it was PERFECT. So if you have a french bulldog, don't debate and just go for the large size. ... show more

Being horrible at envisioning dimensions, I judge the size by the dog in the advertisement. While In the past this was a bad method, this time it was beyond what I thought ! I have a 65 lb, 1 year old, GROWING by the minute Belgium Malinois ( cousin to the German Sheppard.). Not only was this case perfect for him with enough room to fit a second his size( sitting OR standing), but it has a front and side door that was very intriguing to my 7 year old who set up a puppy slumber party with the dog AND her AND stuffed animals, AND blankets with more than enough room for it all! She kept calling it the “play house” so it doubled as a crate during the night time and cycled between a vet office, post office, school, or whatever else her beautiful imagination could come up with ! I bought this as a low price deal and did not expect it to be such great quality. The metal is strong and stable. Fits my small toy Poodle perfectly. Having doors on both sides is really helpful because it allows me to move the kennel around my house as needed. There is nice removable tray in the bottom for easy cleaning if needed. Its a little on the heavy side, which is to be expected for the strong metal. It's easily collapsed for condensed storage too. Very happy with this purchase. ... show more

We had a large crate for our cattle dog/pittie mix and while it worked fine to keep our excitable dog away from our granddaughter as needed, it just took up to much space. We got the combo Medium crate w/the cover and pad and our dog love's this one even more. The price was attractive, the size is 6” smaller in virtually every dimension, the cover is practical and not too offensive, and the pad is more plush than the original set. Our dog is 21” nose to base of tail and 19” tall - this crate gives her plenty of turning space. We didn’t need it for potty training so I can’t speak to that although the bottom tray is a nice feature. The crate folds and opens pretty easily. ... show more

This is great! However, if you have a dog who is determined and strong they can bend this. One of my pits have baddd separation anxiety and was doing well with it but one day, within about 20-30 mins, he managed to bend the doors and escape and go crazy lol. He's used to his crate now and loves it but he definitely was able to escape. My dog loves to destroy and chew things up, so if you are getting this for a dog like mine, you should probably add zip ties or something. It's not indestructible but it is still very good quality! I got my dog the biggest size and well it is VERY roomy lol. It does take up a lot of space so definitely make sure you measure the space because I bought 2 of these lol. This thing is so big I could probably sleep in it LOL. ... show more

    • Great for dog with separation anxiety

I work from home so I thought I wouldn't really need a crate for the doggo I adopted, but he would completely wreck my window blinds every time I stepped out. He is much more calm in the crate when I leave the house now and even when he's not in the crate, he no longer jumps up onto the couch to paw aside the blinds so he can see out the window when I go out for a short time to do some yardwork. I live near a downtown stadium so if he gets too worked up over fireworks, he'll calm down a lot when I have him go in the crate. The crate was easy to snap into place and seems perfectly sturdy for a 60 lb pit. I put his bedding and a chew toy in the crate and gave him a rawhide treat every day for a few days so he could get used to being inside it while I was home but in another room. He chooses to chill in his crate about as often as his dog bed. Really glad I got it, and at a good price, too. ... show more
