My dogs are not considered "aggressive" chewers - you know, the type of dog that destroys all the toys, but they can give a toy a good work out. Although this toy is not one of the dogs favorites, they do chew on it periodically - evidenced by the visible chew marks on it. My dogs mostly prefer toys that have some kind of mental stimulation to it, but do like to just plain CHEW once in a while. This toy would be great for a large breed puppy - that has a strong desire to chew while it is in the teething stage. This dog toy is priced well, and the toy is very sturdy.

My dog went right after this as soon as he got it. I think he likes it because he sure enjoys playing with it or just chewing on it. He is an aggressive chewer and he has not destroyed it yet after several weeks. That is a good thing. I will say, however, the newness wore off and he reverted back to a ball as his favorite toy. That said, this toy does not go far without his knowledge and he is still engaged with it...it is just not number one anymore. A good go-to toy for dogs that destroy normal toys quickly.

When our puppy was just 2 months old, we got him a box of Benebone chew toys, and he absolutely loved them. Being the little land shark that he was, however, he made quick work of chewing down the ends until they were pretty gnarly with sharp edges. Not ideal for his delicate puppy mouth! Fast forward to around 5 months, and our guy started losing his baby teeth. Suddenly, those hard chew toys were causing his gums to bleed quite a bit when he'd really go to town on them. I had to take them away, which definitely left him feeling a little bored and understimulated. That's when I came across this bacon-flavored chew toy. The unique shape and design looked like it might be a bit gentler on his sore gums during the teething process. As soon as I unwrapped it, the bacon aroma had him snatching it right up and excitedly carrying it off to his bed to gnaw away. Several days in, and I'm really impressed by how well this chew is holding up to his persistent puppyhood. Besides some light surface scratching, it's avoided any major gouges or chunks being torn out. And most importantly, doesn't seem to make him bleed! Clearly, the three-pronged design allows his mouth to get a good grip while preventing him from going too hard in any one spot. It's quickly become one of his new favorite go-to toys for safe, satisfying chewing sessions. The bacon flavor probably doesn't hurt either! All around, a great alternative chew for the teething puppy phase when you need something a little easier on those tender gums.

I have two chocolate labradoodles, and they both enjoy this toy. When I unboxed it, they were both right there watching. My younger dog took it as soon as it was unwrapped, and scurried off to his crate with it. He knows his brother won't go in his crate to remove anything. After giving the little guy some time with it, I took the toy out of the crate and let the older dog check it out. He immediately took it to their big shared bed, wrapped his paws around it and started gnawing. It wasn't too long afterwards that the little guy snuggled up to his brother and started gnawing on one of the 'arms' of the toy that wasn't already being chewed on. And here we are, weeks later, and they still love this toy. That must be some amazing bacon flavor! To be honest, I don't smell anything, but no way am I licking it to check out the taste! This is a win, and considering what good dog toys cost these days, it's quite a good value! I have a rescue lab mix about 2 or 3 years old and she is a super chewer. This toy is a very hard nylon that at first, I thought would be too hard, but I was wrong. She loves to chew on it and the ends have become completely covered in tooth marks. I was worried that the jagged tooth marks might cut her gums, but it doesn't seem to hurt her. I imagine you could sand the ends down to make them smooth again if this worried you still. Overall, the toy was enjoyed very much and kept my little chewer occupied for many hours and it continues to do so.

Our Rottie is an aggressive chewer and can go through a flimsy toy in no time. Even toys that claim to be durable and made for big chewers usually meet their demise within a day or two. This chew toy is going on 6 weeks and has minor wear. And really goes after it! Get this for your big dog that destroys all their toys. Excellent value for under $10.
