Overall, this is a nice kit. Everything, save the water needed to activate the bouncy balls, is included (which makes this kit a good gift for younger girls). The instructions are easy to follow, parts are clearly labeled, and the unprinted wooden parts for the rocket base are fully cut and don't need to be popped out. The printed ones do have a few points of contact and do need to be popped free, but I found that very easy to do. If your child has done Kiwi/Crunch Labs/etc builds before, this will be easy for them to do if they are able to read the directions on their own. Unfortunately, while the stories about astronauts are designed to be easy for a child to read, the instructions are not. (They are easy to follow, but the word choice tends to be at a higher reading grade level than the intended age. See photo.) The three different projects/crafts are a lot of fun. Both the bouncy balls and the rocket launcher have been a big hit with both of my kids in the past. While this is a smaller rocket (that can't be stomped on to launch) it is still good- and more appropriate for indoor use! The booklet with two stories about women astronauts could be better. They didn't go into much depth, and the story about Mae Jemison didn't name the "TV show" (Star Trek) and referred to Lieutenant Uhura as a girl instead of a woman. The image on the TV also clearly had nothing to do with Star Trek. (The National History Women's Museum website has great bios on both Mae Jemison and Sally Ride, which are suitable for children. I encourage you to check them out while you do this kit.) Even with the overly child-friendly, detail-lacking stories and the overly verbose instructions, this is a good kit, particularly if you use outside resources along with it. ... show more

We used this solar system project kit over three days of homeschooling, and it was a huge success. My 6-year-old daughter had a blast building each piece—she was so excited to start, she didn’t want to wait. It’s genuinely fun for kids, with a great mix of hands-on learning and play. She loved following the visual instruction booklet, and even the small fasteners were easy enough for her to manage on her own. The functionality of each project is impressive—everything does what it’s supposed to do. The rocket actually launches using air pressure, the bouncy planets turn out just right, and the 3D solar system is something she proudly displays in her room. The build quality is great, especially for a kids’ kit. Most of the pieces are wood instead of cardboard, which makes everything feel much sturdier and more durable. It’s also visually appealing. The colors are bright and cheerful, which makes the finished projects look exciting and fun. And the size of the kit is just right for young kids—not too small to be frustrating, but not oversized either. Each item is big enough to handle easily and put together without help.     • Great and fun project
I got this for my 15-year-old for his birthday. He really liked this project. It is a pretty simple build and connecting process. You have slide pegs into the holes and secure them with rubber bands. The rubber bands can be challenging to put on, especially the smaller ones. The smaller rubberbands can be easy to lose, but the project does come with an abundance of rubberbands. The diagram didn't align with the Bluetooth module. The plug-in ports to the speakers were on the opposite sides from the diagram, for example. This did cause some confusion during the initial stages of trying to assemble the project. Overall, it was a fun experience and relatively simple to figure out. However, if you need to replace the batteries, you would need to basically disassemble the entire thing which isn't convenient. Unfortunately, this project doesn't have a USB charging capability. It takes 4 A A batteries instead. It is compact, lightweight, and easy to bring with you on travel. These speakers can get really loud, and the volume is adjustable from the device that you're pairing it with. The finished look is cool, vibrant, and lively. I would recommend this as an activity ad a bonding experience with children and parents as well. No missing parts. ... show more

I picked this up so that my 5 year old son and I could assemble this together. He's too young to do it on his own, but together, it was pretty straight forward. There's something satisfying about popping out each piece. The pieces are vibrant in color not flimsy at all. The instructions are clear for the most part, but I would strongly suggest that even if your child is a bit older, be near while they assemble this kit. I did misread one of the instructions and plugged the connector from the batteries into the wrong slot and the controller board started smoking. The board still worked though and I only lost one of the speakers. My only nit is that the rubber bands that are used are very tiny that you need to have quite nimble fingers in order to wrap them around the pieces. They have two sizes, Tiny and Small :-) I ended up breaking several of the tiny ones trying to get them to stretch over the pieces, but I had enough of the small where I could double the loop and achieve the same result. Overall, an awesome kit. I feel bad for shorting out one of the speakers, but it still works and my son loves it. ... show more
