  • Very Capable Trim Router
Material Type: No Bag
This is a very capable trim router. The slow start feature is very nice. It comes with two attachments, as well as a dust chute for a shop vac or other dust collection system (you might need an adapter) as well as a set of decent router bits in a small wooden case with a latch. Using the router: The router is solidly built, no complaints there, and feels very solid when holding it. It is not overly heavy, but it does have some weight to it because it's solidly built. There was not much vibration when holding it and it does not make a lot of noise by itself when running, even on high speed. But, depending on what type or wood you're working on and the speed of the router and bit, it can get very loud, so ear protection is a good idea, as well as wearing eye protection which goes without saying. Changing bits: The only issue I experienced is the mechanism for holding the chuck in place so the bit can be changed is cumbersome. There is a small spring-loaded push-in screw that engages a hole in the shaft of the chuck to keep it in from turning so that you can use the included wrench to loosen the chuck nut to change bits. The position of that holding screw is in a rather cumbersome location which makes it awkward to hold it in (and requires significant pressure to keep it in position) and at the same time use the wrench to loosen or tighten the nut. There's no externally connected button, for example, that engages with the push-in screw to take up the pressure off your finger and also relieve your finger from applying significant force on such a small area of the screw. The lack of a hold-down button and the position of the holding screw is at the very least an inconvenience. I found the solution is to completely remove the adjustable cage/base (which can be adjusted up/down to set the height of the base) which is very easy to do, in order to completely free the surrounding space around the chuck so that I could leverage enough force on the set screw to either tighten or loosen the nut on the chuck with the included wrench. You may be more fortunate if you can make a bit change without having to remove the cage/base, but I was not. If your projects require you to change the bit frequently this may or may not be a show stopper for you. Either way, it's an inconvenience that you'll have to deal with. Otherwise, this small hand router works as described. Router bits: I tried a few of the included router bits which has a varied selection and comes in a nice wooden case with a latch. I tried the 4 bits on softwood (pine). I can't say if they're tungsten tipped (not likely) but they seem to do the job. Of course you'll likely use your own or purchase a high-quality set if you're going to be doing any significant amount of routing, especially on hard woods. Accessories: I did try the edge-guide and it works. I did not try the vacuum attachment. Overall, it's solidly built, seems to do the job, and with the exception of the difficulty I had with changing bits, it seems to be a decent hand held router for the price. In terms of reliability, well time will tell. I would have given it a 5 star overall, were it not for the issues with changing bits, but again, you may have a better experience with it than I did. ... show more

  • Great value for money! Tool itself is great but included router bits are dangerous...
Material Type: No Bag
I bought this set/kit because I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a tool I use infrequently. That's why I was happy that it had included router bits. Notice "was" in past tense. Very first project I tried, the included flush trim router bit literally exploded into small metal particles flying around at light speed propelled by 30,000rpms. Very disturbing and I'm glad nobody got hurt. I was trimming the edge of a straight piece of 3/4" MDF that was smooth and didn't have any nails or screws in it, so it was not user error and the router bit came apart simply by the rotational force of the router. I immediately stopped using the included router bits and went to the hardware store to buy (much more expensive) new router bits of a trusted brand to continue my project. That went well. The router tool itself works great and is VERY powerful, especially for the $69 compared to other alternatives. Just plan to buy decent router bits separately and you should be fine. Good luck with your project(s)! ... show more

  • The speed control is a little scary
Material Type: No Bag
The speed control is too loose for the amount of vibration it it has to deal with. This mean it changes while you’re using the tool. Doesn’t matter what I set it to, it turns to around “6” out of 10 on its own as soon as I begin using it. This is manageable, but should not be happening. All of the photos above are wrong and dangerous technique. Clamp your work piece down. Keep your off hand away from the piece, preferably resting on the router. Yeah, I know it’s a palm router, but the extra hand shouldn’t be where the blade would go if it jumps. The included bits - people are saying they come apart during use. They’re fine; just tighten the screw on each until tight, and re check them before use. You should be checking them anyway. If you are lenient about safety checks, a router isn’t the tool for you. ... show more

  • Initially left a bad review and realized it was the brushes!
Material Type: No Bag
The router turned off in the middle of a job and will not turn back on. Buyer beware. 1 year warranty is useless if they don't give you a way to contact them or have a website. So I'm stuck with a 70 dollar dead router. Replaced the brushes and its back to running. 4 stars because I am concerned about how to get service on this tool. ... show more

  • The Router was worth the money it worked well
Material Type: No Bag
Dislike: I tried a few of the bits and I don't recommend using them for anything but testing, The corner bits guide flew off with in 5 minutes. Likes: The router itself worked great, I only had to tighten the depth lock, love the guide features they are easy to attach and remove, It was well balanced ran great for my project. ... show more
