This is my first drone. The drone itself is great, but getting it ready to fly had some problems. No owners manual is sent. A manual is sent with one sentence in English about downloading an app that you need to fly the drone. It also says to hit the “Academy “ button to see videos about getting started. I don’t think the videos are that great. They move too fast and seem to skip some steps. It is hard to stop the video every time you want to do something and then restarting just to have to stop again. Found out that when you first download the app you can go way to the bottom of the video list and find a manual that you can download. The manual is better but not great. I was disappointed in the fact that in the video it says the drone comes with a strap to hold the propeller blades secure while transporting. No strap. I was also expecting a charging unit for the batteries instead you get a cord that you can plug into the drone with a phone charging unit. You can’t fly the drone while you are charging it. I ended up ordering a charging unit and an extra battery so I could start charging a battery while flying a second battery. Flying the drone is very easy. It is amazing that you can raise the drone up and take your hands off the controls and will it stay in place until the battery runs out or you land it. My son and I took the drone up, aimed the camera, and set it to record as we played a game of cornhole. It took us about 15 minutes and the drone did not move. The video was sharp and did not waver even though we had some wind. The videos and pictures are outstanding. I have only had the drone for a couple of weeks and I have a lot more to learn about the camera capabilities. I haven’t flown the drone out a long way yet, but is supposed to get out at least a couple of miles. This is one of the reasons I ordered this drone. The video is amazing. Even on the windiest days the video is smooth and crisp. The RTH (Return To Home) feature is phenomenal and with the Mini 2 using OcuSync I’ve flown 8 miles away without losing signal. OcuSync is why I chose the Mini 2. With a wifi connection you can only venture out a mile or two. But if you travel too far and it loses connection it immediately returns home. It’s compact but not too small. It weighs 249g so just under the required weight to need a license (250g) However, some states require you to certify online so check your state’s requirements for UAVs (Unmanned Aircraft Vehicles) or RPAs (Remotely Piloted Aircrafts). TRUST (The Recreational UAS Safety Test) can be done online for free. I’ve had several drones and this one is hands down THE BEST I have owned. The aircraft and remote control were easy to set up and connect. My only tiny gripe would be the way the controller holds an iPhone which ends up right on the power button or volume buttons requiring the phone to be pushed way off to the side but that’s sooo minor compared to all the great things about this drone. The controller can be set up to charge your phone while using. Suggestion: Pay attention to your battery consumption on the drone. Sport mode consumes more battery. Once I was flying at night and didn’t realize how far away it was. It had to do an emergency landing because it couldn’t make it back. The app gave me the map and directions to its exact location where I found my little guy in the middle of a field. Thank God!! Wonderful app. Wonderful drone. Couldn’t be happier with this drone!! I needed a Drone that had some video range, and this one was the perfect choice. I did not purchase the "bundle". I just purchased a hard carrying case separately. The drone is small and feels like a cheap toy. But it is no cheap toy. It flies great, videos are stunning, and the pictures are good. Easy to fly. The app is perfect to follow the drone if it gets hard to see. There are some things I wish it had that even "cheaper" drones have 1) The Drone can be flow without the iphone....however there is no altitude, distance, receiver strength, GPS Satellite information. I had a drone that was 1/2 the price of this, and those items were on a display easy to see. So basically it should always be flown with a iphone/ipad, etc. 2) You can't take video and "snap" a picture at the same time. You will have to stop the video, snap a picture then restart the videoing. Again my "cheaper" drone had this feature with the same camera (4K) 3) There is no "follow me" feature. Why is that? Because of no collision avoidance? 4) Turning "ON" can be a challenge. You have to press the button once on the drone to display battery display lights, then press again to turn it on. One time I must have pressed too long and the Drone got disconnected from the remote. (It was on the ground) I had to reconnect which took some time 5) NO collision avoidance. Why because of weight? Honestly, registering a drone with the FAA cost $5 for a few years...no big deal. 6) The instructions that comes with it are garbage. Better to check out the youtube videos after you download and print the manual located on line. PROS: Other then the above, the drone is great. Stable, easy to fly, RTH when instructed to do so by the app so you don't lose it, great video's during the day, Nice pictured, 31 min of flying time. (I don't go that long) ... show more

I’ve owned several DJI drones in the past so I feel like I have the experience to judge the mini 2. The mini 2 is actually pretty decent but it does have a a few draw backs. The good part is it has an excellent camera and is pretty quiet. The camera in my opinion is better than the original mavic pro and phantom 3. The range is also very good. In theory better than the mavic pro. The draw backs are in windy conditions it tends to move around a lot and that can hinder shots if you are trying to get smooth footage. The wind made my mini 2 climb in elevation a tad bit and it ruined a smooth shot I tried to get so I had to take the shot again. The battery is another drawback. The range is incredible but its down fall is the battery. Sure you can fly further than the original mavic pro but you wont get it back. Not having avoidance sensors every where doesn't bother me but im not a beginner. It saves me from turning them off any way. For a beginner I feel like not having any sensors would be a huge drawback in my opinion. Id recommend the mini 2 but just realize you may have to retake a shot or two if its windy out, also mind the battery and your surroundings. Other than that the mini 2 is pretty good and you can get amazing footage with it. ... show more

The Mini 2 might cost a little more than the Mavic Mini, but it's worth the extra...imo of course. I did have the Mavic Mini before purchasing the Mini 2. The difference between the two as far as basic operation is not very much. The difference is in the controller, the software, the camera, and the biggest difference for me, the added range in the Mini 2. I looked at it this way, the odds of my losing a drone with a 6 mile range is about nil since the drone is never out of sight. Right? The dual band width on the Mini 2 is another plus. A 4k 1080 camera with a 4x zoom? You've got to be kidding. This is like having a flying movie studio. I do think that the flight time given is a tad generous. The best that I've had was about 22 minutes, but in the Minis defence, it has been a little windy here, so that time may improve. No doubt that a second or even a third battery is needed. If you're looking at the Mavic Mini combo, keep in mind that the charger that it comes with is just about useless, unless you really want to put the drone on display. The choice between the two was an easy choice, at least it was for me. The Mini 2 with an extra battery is only a 100 bucks more than the Mavic Mini. For that 100 bucks you get a drone that will go out 6 miles instead of about 2 miles, a 4x 1080 camera with zoom, an upgraded control that easily holds a large cell phone and is dual band. Have used the drone twice now. Easy to set up and learn (go to youtube tutorial). Many safety, control and camera settings that are on the phone app and you can set up front or change whenever you want. Very customizable but user friendly. Controller is easy to work with and the drone is very responsive to controller and phone commands. Drone operates very smoothly and camera works great with excellent picture and video clarity and color. I initially tried a less expensive drone that I would rate as average and lacked the significant features and power of the Mini 2. I really liked the maps feature which provides location of drone and directional arrow indication by providing a line on the map for you to follow to return home (if you don't want to use RTH button). GPS is much tighter on this drone than other lower cost drones. Camera gimbal very responsive. I will update my review if anything negative occurs, but for now, I would easily rate this drone the best value in the sub 250 gram drone category. DJI has taken it to another level. ... show more
