I got these to use in making a small kitchenette unit for a camper-van. I use the magnet to hold both drawers and doors closed, to prevent them from opening when driving. I screwed them to the rear panel of the drawers and put a 3/4" strip of mild steel down the back wall of the cabinet for the magnets to cling to. I set them up to fully contact the steel. They hold quite well, well enough that you have to give a good pull to get the drawers open. Not strong enough to self-close the drawers (a lot of people have asked about that), but more than enough hold to keep the drawers tightly closed even on rough dirt roads. The holes in the center of the magnets make them easy to install with phillips-head wood screws. Be very careful tightening the screws as the rare earth magnets are quite brittle and will shatter if you get the screws too tight! I bought a second set for another unit, and will be buying them again.

SUPER STRONG! I let two get stuck together and had a hard time separating them! Also, not sure what the metal washers are for but it reduces the strength of the magnet significantly. Those small details aside I love these and highly recommend.

These magnets have a strong attachment to iron and steel and were perfect for what I needed. Instead of an ugly or cumbersone closure for a metal gate, I decided to try a magnet and these worked perfectly. I dropped one on a metal picnic table and had a difficult time removing it. I would recommend these magnets for any projects that require them.

These little magnets are incredible! I used them on a box about shoe box size, filled with some tools and other supplies that I wanted to be able to stick to the iron frame of some farm equipment. I was worried it might fall off so I placed 6 magnets equally spaced on the bottom of the box. Not only did it not fall off, it was almost impossible to remove without using most of my body's weight. After removing 2 of the magnets it works great. You do actually have to be careful because even though they're small they can still pinch the ¶|¢¢ out of your fingers if you get them in between a magnet and some ferrous metal. The only thing I did on my own was to get some small bolts, nuts, and washers along with some thread lock to secure the magnets since the box was made of material that was too thin for the screws to get a good bite. The remaining magnets were screwed to the wall to hold some pretty heavy tools and they're secure. I'm about to order more of the same magnets for a few more projects around my place as well as making a hide a key spare for the next time my wife hides the car keys from my girlfriend so she can't come pick me up from the, "massage parlor"..

I got these to hold game-boards onto a lazy Susan turntable. The magnets will be inset on the top of the turntable and I am using 1 1/4" washers inset and attached to the bottoms of the boards in the same 8" square pattern of 4. They work perfectly for this purpose. The Go board has been tested in a mock up and the chessboard will work too. A CAVEAT OF WARNING! The center countersink where the screws go down into are the actual magnet, not protective metal. You should pre-drill a pilot hole with a small bit and HAND tighten the screws. I found out the hard way by cracking one that they require a gentle touch when tightening the screws. As others have said do not let them slam together, carefully slide them together or apart, and watch what they come near to because they will snap it up and it will be hard to separate the magnet and the item if it is small. Very pleased except for having to replace my broken magnet. AGAIN THE MOUNTING SCREWS ARE HAND TIGHTEN ONLY.
