  • Drone kit
This was a great kit for my grandsons. They read all the instructional materials on flight and completed the assembly in about 3 hours. Definitely worth the money and it flies great

  • Perfect for the 'next step' in drone hobby
I was really excited to get a drone kit that seemed to take me to the next step of the hobby. I had previously had small, indoor drones complete with FPV but I wanted to see if I'd be interested in something a little bigger to fly outdoors and this kit is perfect for getting there. First off, the instructional booklet is very well written and has essential details for what to look for, what different parts mean, how the drone works, and what future upgrade options you have. I feel like there's more on this control board than is currently being utilized too, even though this drone is full featured with a camera for proximity in auto take-off and landing, an FPV camera on the front, beautiful green and red strip lighting to help aid navigation, and more! Quality: The black rods are carbon fiber. The plastic pieces are highly accurate 3D prints which fit snug with all pieces and hold the tiny hex nuts in place for fasteners. The controller has plenty of features. There's spare parts included (fortunately I didn't need any even when I almost lost one of the tiny nuts). The controller has a very good responsive feel and fortunately a guide was included for the remote. Durability: In my initial test flights it took off a couple of time into a brick wall, an AC, a gutter, and an innocent bystander. There are some small gouges and one of the blades has a minor tear/rip in it but it still flies without a problem (see last photo closeup of the blades on one end of the drone). Age: I STRONGLY recommend a teen for this kit at minimum, but it's just as good for a late thirty something like me. There's a ton of tiny little parts that need patience for assembly. Additionally this thing is dangerous given there are no blade guards: that innocent bystander? well he had a few bleeding slices in his chins after taking a hit during a test flight. Tips: I missed the note about the gyroscope calibration the first few times I flew it, thinking the battery was just throwing it off since it doesn't sit well in the slot they have for it - well turns out that calibration is absolutely essential prior to flight and it unfortunately took me five tries to figure that out (again, i'm new to 'real' drones). The battery doesn't like to stay in place very well as it is a loose fit. I had some extra rubber bands from the kit I couldn't figure out what they were for so I strapped the battery in place with those. Otherwise if you leave it loose then it could shift during flight, throwing off the balance and requiring constant adjustment to trim. I would also suggest a different FPV camera if you're going to fly it in that mode - maybe it was just my old phone but the video was unreliable and inconsistent with the application they ask you to install (thus I used an older phone that doesn't have any significant personal information on it). ... show more

  • Buckle Up and Let's Fly
This drone kit is not a “pop it in and fly” toy. It’s a learning curve in a box. You’re going to spend quality time soldering, assembling, and configuring. Most of your time will be spent fixing crashes and troubleshooting settings before you’re ever comfortable flying.I didn't know what I was doing with soldering or drone flying before this. But that’s the point. YYSOLDERI made it approachable. The logical build order and one‑click fly commands mean you’re not completely on your own. Still, set expectations, this won't be a weekend project that’s done and gone. You’ll spend evenings fine‑tuning motors, watching videos, and figuring out why it drifts. It’s a solid beginner STEM kit that delivers, if you're prepared to learn instead of expecting perfection. If you want a cheap introduction to drone mechanics and flying, and you don’t mind spending extra time troubleshooting and possibly buying a few spare parts, go for it. For a no‑tune, drop‑and‑go toy? No. This is a learning adventure packed into wings. Amateur engineers, get ready to learn. I passed the gift-giving super grandparent test. • Very well put together, educational, STEM DIY, all inclusive camera drone
A very well put together kit for building your own drone. This is a STEM kit and is very educational for not only students but, anyone that’s interested in drone technology. A strong and stable build quality employing carbon fiber rods and plastic connectors. This kit also includes 2 X 1S LiPo flight batteries, 3 AA transmitter batteries, a small screwdriver, everything needed to build and fly your own drone from scratch. Absolutely no soldering required as all connections use PH connectors making it very easy to build. The instruction booklet uses many pictures for assembly as well as information on the function of each component. This unit also has two super tiny cameras, one that faces straight down for position hold and the other for transmitting video to a smart phone. The drone can be controlled VIA the transmitter that you put together and/or with your smart phone. The drone has many functions available via the controller like, auto take off, auto land, return to home, 3 speeds, light control, camera control for taking a photo or video recording and also has an all stop emergency shut down function. The drone frame, after assembly, is very rigid and has absolutely no flex. Surprisingly this unit comes with 4 brushless motors making it very efficient, quiet and fast. It flys very well and is very easy to control as it will hover in place via the position hold camera as long as there is not any strong wind. ... show more

  • Great way to learn about drones
So, let me start by saying what this is not. This is not supposed to be some awesome drone that you build and take to do amazing things with. However, it IS an awesome drone that you build and learn about drones and drone hardware. The instruction manual is 1/2 instructions and 1/2 lesson. It starts with flying principles and signal control logic. Then as you build it, the manual teaches you briefly about each component that you are adding to the build. The instructions are easy to understand. Once the build was completed, I powered it up and flew directly into my living room wall. This is because I did not read and follow the start up instructions. The drone was not hurt btw. Once I read and followed the instructions it was pretty easy to get it stable i the air. I did find myself needing to fine tune it every time I put it in the air, but it doesn't take long. The 360 degree flip function workes well. Overall, if you find drone interesting, this is a good educational tool. ... show more
