Seemed a little daunting when all the pieces were first laid out. You need to pay attention to the instructions to ensure each step is completed in order. The fun part for me was working my early mistakes into the final construction. After a while I chose to make some alterations to the instruction by using leaving some pieces out and putting some others in different places. For instance I placed some small stacks of books on the desk and on the floor, scattered a couple of newspaper sheets on the floor. Made things a bit messier and cluttered. Books lying at angles and on their side in the bookcase's. Changed the lighting a bit and the end result look lived in. In the end it looked as good as the picture on the cover, just a bit messier. Well worth the price, several hours of careful work and a handsome addition to my bookcase.

Super fun! And takes a while which I love! Clearly still working on it. Such cute small details. Step by step directions which is great, some are a bit confusing..but you figure it out. If you want the music box you need to get that separately- which i don't really care about.l getting, but just a heads up. Highly recommend using super glue! Makes it so much easier and faster. Definitely recommended fun project! Definitely getting more in the future 😊

I love the way this turned out! There were definitely some tricky parts especially getting the wiring lined up. And I also had to use more glue than I thought I would, there was much less snapping together than other models I've done so have your Elmer's glue and a glue stick ready. But I'm definitely happy with the outcome!

Ok so it took me about 13 hours to complete, spread out over about 3 days. Things that are NECESSARY and not included are: batteries- i think AA, wood/paper glue, and scissors/exacto knife. Personally i recommend using an exacto knife instead of scissors but both will get the job done. The 2nd picture is the glue I used which many recommended- Mod Podge for paper and Aleens Tacky Glue for the wooden pieces. The 6th picture is after about 4 hours of work. The 11th picture is after about 8 hours. The last picture is after around 12 hours. BE VERY GENTLE and careful popping the delicate pieces out of the wooden boards as well as when pressing pieces together- thats mainly how i ended up breaking them when i did. If youre lucky youll break a piece that has a extra one included. If it doesnt have an extra piece, just glue it back together if it isnt completely shattered. They include little plastic tweezers so theyre really handy when placing things or when pieces fall over- particularly once the 3 walls are together. WARNING- about the lights… after attaching them, the longer wires and stuff are hidden under the floorboard. but dont tie the extra wire together like i did… at least not very tight. because an hour or two down the line at the very end you have to EXTEND the lights to certain areas on the roof and mine were too short because i tied them. so i had to pull them a bit roughly- luckily they werent damaged but i definitely recommend reading ahead in the instructions as a precaution. :,) The instructions for the most part are pretty clear. its mostly pictures and arrows. Which works for my learning style but you definitely need to be detail oriented and make sure things are facing the correct way. if one side is bare instead of painted it usually means that it will be facing AWAY from view or it wont matter at all. I know I got a little confused when putting the drawer/file cabinet together- but dont worry, its not a defect. Over all it was a very fun project! The pieces fit together well and I didnt have many issues. Just use the sandpaper piece they give you to file down areas giving you trouble. Just be patient and it gets quicker after you get into the groove of things. Good luck!!

I was disappointed with this kit be use the precision of the parts fitting together was off in many areas. The instructions were just OK. Often I had to read ahead quite a ways to understand exactly how a part was to be placed. Some of the smaller parts were broken in the frame before I cut them out. I would not recommend this source at all. Rather, consider one of the MiniCity kits. They are excellent!

My 12 year old LOVED this project. I don’t think it would be great for younger than 12, unless parents want to really help a lot. I had to help him on a few things, but he did most of it on his own. It took him about 3 days, which was a nice distraction from his screen. It doesn’t come with glue, and we used basic white school glue for this. I would suggest also using a wood glue for a stronger hold, especially on the tiny pieces. My son used a paint brush to glue a lot of the little pieces and papers on.
