    • Absolutely wretched sound quality
First off, the 4k picture quality is excellent - but video is only half of what makes a vidcam, and if the sound is as flat-out terrible as this one's, that renders it completely useless. I'm no stranger to vidrecording, editing, audiorecording, and full production and final mastering of digital videos. We tested this one out of the box with both the 20DcB and 0DcB settings, recording live music, recorded narration and recorded audio from various distances and the result was the same, in varying degrees: 1) terribly tinny sound with 0 bass and only limited midrange; upper range was fine. And even when the video was processed and played back through pro-studio equipment, it was just as bad. 2) When the volume got a little high, the sound warbled - nearly like a condenser mic's cut-off. 3) Battery life was about an hour, after a 3-hour charge - fine. 4) And yes, as others have reported, the audio and video are out of sync. Which - if you're recording archival videos of a symphony orchestra (in this case, MY symphony orchestra,) is a deal-breaker right THERE. Would it perform better with a higher-quality mic? I don't know. But I'd rather return this one than buy a new mic to try, only to have the result remain the same. And to rub salt in the wounds, only about ten days after buying this cam, I now see that it's got a $25-off coupon to tick. And that was the final straw. ... show more

    • Audio and video completely out of sync
The media could not be loaded. Incredibly frustrating. The audio and video were not even close to synced at 4K. Tested this by clapping at 1 clap per second, and the clap sound started a half second before the hands touched in the video, and after around 10 seconds the lag moved to a complete second, i.e. there was a moment when the hands hit together at the same time as the sound, but it was the 11th clap sound matching the 10th time the hands touched in the video. 2.7K was better, but still notably off in the sync. Moving down to 1080p, the claps matched the hand movement, but at 60 fps the sound was suddenly terrible. I tested this playback on two computers and used two different SD cards (the one provided and one "name brand" rated much faster) with the same results. The free external microphone worked, and when adjusted to +20dB made a significant difference in the sound level, but with the terrible audio-visual lack of synchronization, it wasn't usable anyway. Will request a refund / return. UPDATE: Amazon sent a replacement or the first camcorder. The replacement has the same problem. Audio and video are not synced. I got this camcorder for multiple reasons. I bought a tripod to go with it so it would be easier to hold. I got it because my husband is a YouTuber and makes YouTube videos and I thought this would be a good one to get. It came in it’s own little box and arrived within two days of Amazon prime. It came with the remote, the camcorder, two batteries, and the plug for the camcorder to charge it. The video quality is good, and pretty clear and concise. I don’t have any problems with it so far.
