We purchased this lantern for our cabin and everyone who walked in to visit in February commented on this beautiful lamp! I can't say enough on it's rustic charm sitting in front of our window. In March, we traveled to cabin and the light would not turn on. My husband took the glass globe off to replace a light bulb but new light bulb did not work. (And yes, the glass globe does come out by pulling up the spring loaded top of lantern and tilting the globe to take out.) He took the lamp with him to hardware store and used a voltmeter to make sure power was getting to the socket where you screw in the bulb and that was ok. He determined we might have a faulty socket because the power from there was not getting to the light bulb. At a loss as to what to do next, he called Muskoka Lifestyle Products in Utah, explained the situation with the lamp. The company representative was at a loss to explain it also, but he immediately sent out a new lantern. To me, the end line of this story is the American Company who stood by their product. They should by very proud of their business ethics. Stuff happens when you manufacture and ship your goods, but honoring your commitment to the customers buying your product is so very important. Thank You Muskoka Lifestyles for living up to the kind of company I expect from all companies! PS: The photo is to show the glass globe really does come out. ... show more

Love love the lamp. It really makes the whole room atmosphere so cozy as I have everything in my house rustic. What is also so nice about this lamp is that it's very dimable like a wide range of lighter/darker. I am getting a second one. UPDATE on the glass issue: so I tried to open it up as if I was changing the bulb - glass broke. I contacted the CS that was super nice and checked with their production company to find that on some lamps the glass was too thin. So they instantly took care of the problem and will send replacement glass if your's broke in process of changing the bulb. I took pics when I replaced my broken glass...have only two hands so the pics are not perfect ...I wrote down how I did it and English is my 3rd language LOL 1. Basically you lift the top lid with left hand. 2. Tilt the glass to the front 3. Now fidget with the little handle on the left until the glass is free to pull out 4. Replace bulb 5. Place the glass back into lamp 6. Lift the top lid to fit the glass into place 7. Enjoy your lamp ... show more

This a great looking lamp. I am not giving 5 stars because I think it will very hard to change the bulb. The bulb was loose during shipping, so I had to tighten before turning on. According to the directions, you have to lift the spring-loaded tip and tilt the glass enclosure out to change the bulb. Howerever, the opening of the enclosure is about 2” and your hand cannot fit inside to grip the bulb. I was able to tighten with my middle and index finger, but can’t grip the bulb. Thumb and forefinger won’t fit far enough into the glass enclosure to grip the bulb. have no idea if I will be able to replace the bulb when it goes out. (I turned the bulb on for the pic so you can see where it is) ... show more

    • Experience swapping in a flame bulb (success with caveats)

The lamp as is looks great on a nightstand although construction is quite flimsy so be gentle with it. The included E12 Edison bulb looks very nice but my intention from the start was to swap in a 'flame bulb', in my case literally the FlameBulb 384-LED model. This bulb is quite a bit taller than what's included and sure enough, even though it fits fine within the frame of the lamp, you can't get the glass cover back on. So in a practical sense, it does NOT fit and if you're looking for a flame effect, find a bulb not much taller than what's included to avoid disappointment. Now all that said, I personally wasn't ready to take no for answer. So after carefully disassembling the base to loosen up the socket, I was able to both screw in the FlameBulb and get the glass cover back on before putting everything back together (hand-tight mind you). The end result is VERY nice and really looks awesome, worth the effort. ... show more

I got this for our rustic themed living room. I bought just one just Incase I ended up not liking it - now I’m going to buy the other. Was a little nervous at first when I plugged it in because it wouldn’t turn on. I just took the top glass part off and tightened the light bulb and that did the trick! I ordered 2 of these a few months ago. They are great! They look so nice on our nightstands. Beware: the glass cover is very thin, so it's fragile. Read the instructions before messing with it. The on/off switch is on the cord about 8 inches away from the base of the lamp, so that's kind of a pain (in terms of asthetics). I wish they had put it on the "knob" on the front of the lamp where it would be if it really were lantern. ... show more

I bought this for my son's room. He moved to a bedroom downstairs and wanted somewhat of a "nightlight." But sense he is almost a teenager, it was a struggle to find something to fit in his room AND something that we could plug in so that we don't have to buy lots of batteries. This lamp has been perfect. It is manly enough to not hide when his friends come over. The fact that it dims makes it great to turn up to read or down to use at night. ... show more
