Can finally maintain a consistent comfortable temperature with the temperature probe away from the heat source. I was also able to set the temperature differential at 1°F. As seen in one picture is my cheap electric heater with the useless built-in thermostat which I set at maximum. Also you see the relay box I built to take all the load off the temperature controller so the high current doesn't pass through the temperature controller. I also darken the remote control writing with dry erase marker for better contrast. Good idea to install new wall AC outlet before hand thus preventing melting. ... show more

Not suitable for many small AC units!! Worked fine when AC was not pulling too big of a load. But under a really heavy draw, in really hot conditions, the unit melted inside. The company appears to be downgrading their own product over time. Another reviewer showed their label with a rating of 15A. My label shows 14A, but the product details on Amazon now show specs to be 12A. My AC is 13A and this item worked fine for 2-3 dozen runs, including off and on a dozen or so nights on camping trips. But in 108* ambient temp on 6/28/23, the thermostat died. See picture for evidence of wire over heating. Be sure to do your research before buying this unit and make sure your AC does not draw more than what this unit appears to now only be rated for 12 amps. I am going to contact the seller and hope for some positive response. If I get a positive response, I will revise this rating…but in the mean time…steer clear! In addition to malfunctioning, the thermostat setting is awkward to use. I figured it out, but it was hard to explain to others, and not easy to adjust…not like your house thermostat where you set a temp, and it would maintain that temp with a predetermine threshold. Instead, the user has to set the range of operation…on and off temps. One might find this threshold override on some household unit…like +/- 1* of set temp. But on this thermostat, you set one temp for the unit to come on, then another temp for it to go off. Not a problem necessarily, if it was easy to change these two values…to get into the setting, one has to press and hold, then cycle through several settings. Not really user friendly. ... show more

At first I thought I’d never get this little gem to function properly. It took me a while to understand what the manufactuor actually wants the thing do. I read and reread the heating instructions and went through the hoops etc. Once I understood it, it was a snap. I use the unit to control a floor heater in a music studio. It is a very cool unit. Set it at any temp to go on, set the temp for it to go off. It’s actually pretty simple. I’ve changed the variables several times to find the just right settings. The room is warm, stays warm when I need it to. Love the remote. Easy 5 stars overall. Good deal ... show more

    • Worked okay for a while
Of course as the warranty just ended I have worsening issues with the remote. It frequently flashes and makes a clicking noise and becomes unresponsive. It’s not a battery issue, it’s the remote itself. I’m limping by using it as I need it to control an ac unit, but I wish the remote worked better.

    • Does exactly what I wanted.
Needed to have two types of control (temperature activated and manual override) for a fan that is very difficult to access. Have it setup to control AC, but when that is "out of season", I can turn it off so that it doesn't go on at inappropriate times-- all remotely. The only problem is that it provides a great deal of control with very few buttons making the directions more complicated than they would have to be otherwise. Can't rate tech support as I haven't used any. ... show more

set up 2 units controlling attic fans. they do not interfere with each other. remotes are in the main house about 20 meters away, reception is good. this is the only unit i could find where the temp sensing is not at the remote, which makes no sense. sensing should be at the unit to be controlled, as is the case with this unit. the manual on/off works great so i can test the fan occasionally. remote stayed programed if disconnected for a few minutes, i don't know the limit on that, but it's enough time to put fresh batteries in. all in all, very happy with this unit. ... show more
