  • Very Helpful!
I rarely leave reviews, but I decided half through reading this book that I would certainly leave on for this author. I read the original book and I’ve watched countless videos on YouTube, and will all of that, none have been as concise and helpful as this mighty little work.

  • A more practical approach than the original
A very welcomed and short elaboration on the Zettelkasten method. This is somewhat welcomed condensed and straight to essence book, which was so missing in the original “Taking Smart Notes” book. The author goes straight to the point, explains types of notes, how to take them, how to store them, how to tag them, how to link them. It’s mostly no BS approach. The only thing that is still missing in this book, as was missing from the “Taking Smart Notes” book is more practical examples. David does provide more examples than Sönke Ahrens, but I’d still like to see a more practical approach. ... show more

  • short but full of useful insights for writers
Don’t let the length of this book keep you away. It’s short but wonderfully clear in its writing and has many hard won kernels of knowledge for improving your note making. Mostly directed to writers rather than other PKM uses, but that’s what Zettelkasten is best suited for.

  • Good summary
A good summary of the Zettelkasten method and how to apply it. Pragmatic advice, balanced guidance. A good resource for anyone.

  • Disappointing
This is a very slim book, i.e., not much content. The author uses just about half of the book to convince the reader of the value of using the Zettelkasten system to keep notes. The fact that someone has purchased the book is a good indication that they do not need convincing. The remaining half of this very slim book is simply not sufficient to effectively explain HOW to use the Zettelkasten system. Overall, quite a disappointing purchase. ... show more

  • Fascinating
First book I've read on Zettelasten, I'll be reading more on this topic but Kadavy gives a good overview of the process and some great ideas on how to use the.process with digital tools. I'll also be checking out more of Kadavy's books.

  • This was missing in ”How to take smart notes”
This book actually made it clear of how zettelkasten works. The given exemples was easy to follow. He clearly explained the labeling saystem in a very good way. I liked how he compared digital va analog zettelkasten.

  • Some good info but a very short book with a lot of padding
I did learn how David does some things, and he did provide some background into how to structure the info with actual example which is useful. But overall I am left with impression that this is not a book, but more an extended article or collection of short blog posts. I don't believe this will help you create your own knowledge base, not I agree that having it is good only for writers. It is a mix bag, some good, some fluff, very short which would be good if it delivered. ... show more
