Having a spare was long overdue... This caliper comes in a nice solid case but no soft inside liner. There are two plastic rods on either end of the case with foam ends to hold it in place inside the case. I've compared it to another caliper and both are identical to at least the 1st decimal place on the mm side. The instructions for the unit are on the cover but the use is pretty straight forward. It doesn't mention that when you move the thumbwheel that the unit automatically turns on. It does not appear to be auto-off. This unit does not have fractions as one of the options which is unfortunate. Even the cheapest caliper at outlets has the faction option. This is handy when figuring out drill bits and holes, etc. All in all, it is a functional useful tool.

In the past few years I've turned into quite the handy woman. I never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but I truly got excited at the prospect of adding a digital caliper to my tool set. I never considered all the things that I would use a digital caliper for, but as it turns out, there are quite a few things. There's no more having to guess whether something is 1/4 in or 1/16 of an inch. The caliper is adjustable to help you get an accurate measurement as well. I've had this for about a month now and have used it on several occasions to measure screws, screw holes, and other small things that I would otherwise not be able to measure with a regular tape measure. This has helped me reduce the number of times I'm going to the store and ultimately buying the wrong kind of screw. Heaven knows I don't need to see the inside of a big box do-it-yourself store any more than I already do. Anyway, I'm happy with this caliper because It allows me to take an accurate measurement and it's easy to use. I imagine the battery will probably last a long time, and it takes a watch battery when it's time to switch it out. I'm very happy with this so far.

This is a decent inexpensive caliper. The case and extra batteries are nice additions. As others have stated, the missing fraction option is a little odd, but it works for what I need. If you want additional features (like fractions), you may want to go with a more expensive tool.

I like to find new ways to use different items and apply them to my yarn crafting. Using this to measure certain parts of an item I'm making makes the guess of "is it on that line or this one?" It shows me exactly how long the measure of the item is. It's lightweight and easy to just toss in my knitting bag with me as I go.
